Honestly, we never know with Hasbro. We now have three basic Combiner systems:
- Energon
- FoC Bruticus
- Combiner Wars
Combiner Wars is the odd one of the three, by having the male plugs on the limbs and not sticking out on the torsos. I wonder if that was structurally an improvement or just aesthetics.
You forgot the father of it all, G1 Scramble City. Plus there's the Power Core Combiners.
I'll give you PCC, as I was only counting the "modern" systems.
o.supreme wrote:ZeroWolf wrote:I'd argue that the CW system was an update of G1, which may have been the point.
Agreed, also probably why I loved it so much, flaws and all. I remember the Energon Combiners came out in 2004. They were not bad by any means, but I got them mostly because I figured we would never get combiners in the spirit of the originals ever again, or even to that wide a range of characters. I am glad I was wrong.
I still hope it gets used on future toys, where applicable.

I don't see how the G1 Scramble City original can't be considered "modern". That's the only other universal system missing from those other old ones. Energon is almost 20 years old, meaning vintage so that one shouldn't be considered "modern" either.
BTW, the WFC system was only used for one combiner so I'm not sure if that one count. That was only the prototype for CW after all.
Going back to the PCC, if they make the classic characters in Core class, why not making Core class combiner sets using the PCC principle? This time, with fully transformable components.

I love the CW system.
I just hope they would just REINFORCE THE DAMN RATCHETS IN THE COMBINER JOINTS.![]()
Most CW combiners are less stable than ragdolls.[/quote]

Overcracker wrote:First-Aid wrote:DOes anyone have information on the SIZE of these figures?
Which figures? The Stunticons and Motormaster?
Stunticons are set to be in the Deluxe price point, and Motormaster is a Commander Class figure.
Actual size, has not been mentioned however.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Agreed 100%. The system is great, they need to find a way to keep it, just make the ratchets stronger. Most of my UW seem more stable than the CW counterparts.
However...Selects has been 2 for 2. King Poseidon and Abominus are floppy messes, whereas God Neptune and Volcanicus are pretty stable.
The fun of sharing the same system is the variety as well. Heck, I would have loved if they Incorporated Devastator and Predaking to use the same system. But I understand the reasons why they didn't. At least we got a version of LioKaiser out of it. I know most fans don like it, but I actually don't mind it, until other combiners that haven't had updated get done, then take another shot at a more original series accurate LioKaiser.

Which is surprising because Twincast wasn't different from Blaster, aside from the red paint turning blue. Unless I'm forgetting details.o.supreme wrote:Although I am not the biggest fan of Soundwave and Blaster, something I hadn't thought of until a possible rumor was just dropped in the SG thread....Since we already have Soundblaster from WFC Soundwave, I imagine Twincast would be an easy Selects recolor of Kingdom/ 2022 Blaster? The prospect excited me a bit, because while we have had several Sounblasters released over the past decade, I don't think Hasbro has ever officially released a version of Twincast.

This is the very definition of "The Tease".
Damnit, I'm too lazy to go look there. Post that stuff hERE!
