There were no reveals for Legacy Wave 2 Core Class, but I think it’s just repacks of Optimus Prime, Iguanus, and Megatron in G2 green and purple colors. Not an exciting line-up, so I get why they didn’t bother.
I’m very impressed with the Deluxe assortment for Legacy Wave 2, though! Elita One looks excellent. I appreciate the work that went into her design, even though they gave her an Earth mode instead of a more obviously Cybertronian vehicle. All of the color details are in the right spots, evoking a sense that Elita would have looked like this if she had come to Earth in the original cartoon. It’s also a nice touch that the (faux) helmet detail on the vehicle mode is removable, so you can have the G1 kibble or leave it off for a cleaner vehicle mode. The customizable backpack kibble is also welcome. I hope we do get another accessory pack in the future to provide her classic pistol weapon.
Tarantulas looks like a “Mini Masterpiece.” Enough said! I can’t wait to add him to my Predacon display. Wildrider looks very nice, especially in vehicle mode. Though not mentioned in the reveal, I suspect the backpack kibble in robot mode has multiple display options, like Elita One. It looks like you can opt not to split the fenders off from the hood to put the front car tires higher up, right behind the shoulders, for a more cartoon accurate look. Are his guns the same tooling from Dragstrip? It sure seems like it.
Knock Out looks great! The paintwork on the vehicle mode is the best we’ve ever had on a Knock Out figure. Again, like Bulkhead and Arcee, he’s been “Generations G1-ified,” which I’m all for. I love having iconic breakout characters from later Transformers series retro-fitted to the G1 design philosophy, to create a cohesive collection of a cast of Transformers characters. I know that’s not what everyone was looking for, but I’m loving it (and I can’t wait to see how Armada Starscream has turned out!). The robot mode doesn’t have all the shapes, flourishes, and details of the Prime character model, but he still exudes the same Knock Out personality of a vain and self-obsessed cosmetic surgeon turned field medic.
I’ll save my thoughts on the Voyager, Leader, and Commander reveals for another post, as this one is already a wall of text.
