In the last couple of days I made my feelings known regarding Bulkhead and Skids. Now, for the rest that I see featured in this thread. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion. If you like them, fine. It's your money. Suffice it to say I am underwhelmed. It seems that most of these figures suffer from 1 of the modes being subpar in order to accommodate the other mode.

The bot modes on Dragstrip and Optimus look good, the vehicle modes not so much. The CW version of Dragstrip is clearly superior overall. The only reason to get this one is to display the Stunticons both separately and combined. I never cared for G2 Prime, so this will be a pass.

Arcee is definitely an overall downgrade from the TFP deluxe, the only positive I can think of is that she doesn't have the original's back kibble. But they gave her a flat chest and a blank face, which is a bummer.

Kickback looks good in both modes, but I'm very happy with the Prime Wars version, so he's not needed. If you like him, great.

And Galvatron to me is just a waste of plastic and leader spot in the line. But if you like him, good for you.

I'm still looking forward to the rest of the reveals, but my expectations have been heavily grounded. Bring on the rest of the BW figures, and maybe Blaster. Otherwise, it's money saved.

Also, just a reminder, there are a lot of shipping and supply delays right now, in the US at least, due to the inefficient response of the inept current federal government to this "pandemic," so it's quite possible that what we're used to as far as the timeline of new figures hitting shelves will not be the same for this holiday season.

And finally, a response to a specific post by Cyber Bishop from page 40:

You chided some of us who complain about this new line (me being 1 of those), so here's my answer. Just because Hasbro keeps putting stuff out for the "older demographic," doesn't mean we should accept that stuff automatically out of fear that we won't see anymore. Especially when they're seriously dropping the ball design-wise. If this Legacy line fails, what makes you think they will simply regress to making simple kiddie toys, as you said? It seems Hasbro is just taking it for granted that we buy everything they give us, just for this reason. And to me it seems this is causing them to slack not only on quality but innovation as well, especially when prices are going up.

So yeah, as a member of the "older demographic," I am a bit unhappy and unsatisfied with what we've been getting. Sure, it's my choice to buy the figures or not, but no one (not Hasbro or fellow fans) can tell me that I am ungrateful for not validating their lack of progression in design and production with my wallet. And maybe a financial failure of this new line will wake them up to how stagnant they are becoming and they will actually focus on other continuities besides G1. And shoehorning characters from other continuities into G1 doesn't count. It might give a new facet to G1, but so far the 2 examples (Arcee and Bulkhead) have done major disservice to the source material.

One minor nitpick, Galvatron isn't part of the Legacy line and was a Exclusive like Ravage :)

Come on, man, there is a video out there showing all the reveals, that's what this whole discussion is about. And in it, we see the back, so it is not out of view. Before posting about what may be out of view, just check the video to be sure if that's the case or not.

ok my bad, I was working when the presentation started and by the time I got out I felt no need or desire to watch the video because I felt I got all the info I needed from here

I vaguely recall seeing an image of this Galvatron figure, but part-way through being reformatted. I assume now, if it happens, that will be a fourth redeco after this Tron Galvatron?

Also, is Bulkhead an Inferno retool? The torso looks similar??

There are rumors of an RED Galvatron, but there haven't been any images yet. I don't think I've seen any partial formatting Galvatron, just the RED Megatron in that style.

After seeing all the reveals... Hate to say it, but my "the original is better" or "the original update is better" mentality is kicking in on some. :BANG_HEAD: Doesn't help that I already own some that belong in either group.

Really disappointed in Drag Strip not being CW-compatible, but eh... not totally unexpected. Makes me curious for Menasor however. Looks like I'll only be picking up Skids and the other odd bot. Bring on the redecos!

I think having an unified aesthesic for all different versions Transformers to be able to interact in single toyline is good, however,I don't think calling it "G1 Universe" is the right way to go about it.

When everythings "G1" nothing will be

What exactly is the point of G1-ifying non-G1 characters to make them all look like they're from the same G1 universe... if the entire premise of this line is non-G1 characters crossing over from other universes via dimensional portals? If they're supposed to be visitors from other universes and not native to the G1 universe, why make them all look like they are?

The toys are explicitly named "Prime Universe Bulkhead" and "Prime Universe Arcee", so they're dimension-hoppers rather than G1 natives. Yet, they get redesigned to look like they from the same universe as the G1 guys that they aren't supposed to be familiar with. So what gives, Hasbro? Why do a multiverse story if you're just going to make it all look and feel like a single universe with no distinctive aesthetic qualities between worlds? Why make everything look the same when you're marketing the non-G1 guys as non-G1 guys from non-G1 universes?

And yes, they were explicit in the video that this is another multiversal crossover deal (a la Universe 2003), talking about "the multiverse", "portals", and "continuities", and even misusing some nerdy terms egregiously, like saying "all of these multiverses are coming together", when they clearly meant "universes" and not "multiverses".

My guess is they think a line that has a unified design aesthetic will sell better, than a line that's a patchwork (in a manner of speaking) of styles.

I can see why. Integrated leg wheels de-integrated and now hang off the sides of her legs, genericized face, head details look like they're no longer a part of her face and instead a part of her helmet (like she's just cosplaying by wearing a Prime Arcee helmet), her once slim and round lower legs and lower arms are now bulky and squared off, her once lean ninja-like physique is now buff and rugged, and while her torso is less sexualized and bikini-like, it's also pretty ordinary-looking.

And worst of all, her iconic "wings" are gone. That's like making a new G1 police car Prowl without door wings.

Never really got that whole "sexualized" bit. Arcee looked like a robotic version of a lithe and fit female, an acrobat. Sure she was easy on the eyes, but fit, heroic, and attractive tend to go hand in hand with each other.

I'll agree that the new figure is too bulky though, to the point of looking more like a guy

And here we have it, the heart of the matter straight from Mark Maher himself:

"I mean, Transformers, we have such rich history. It's like forty years of just characters from all different, like, universes. I mean, the style and design aesthetics of each universe has its own feel and look. So, you know, early on, John Warden put the seeds in the ground for this and, uh, our design director, Michelino, actually really took the team together and was was like, 'We need something fresh and new for Generations.' So we're taking all of these characters from all of these different continuities, and we're trying to, like, almost like, place them into a universe of their own, which is basically Legacy. And, of course, having, like, a heavy G1 influence because, you know, I love G1, so."

I don't think so. But one thing is sure. That Bulkhead is a pretool for lots of other characters. I'm sure of it. And for some weird reason the more I see him, the more I like him. :-?

I'm digging him too the more I see him and pre-ordered from Amazon.

Definitely not a retool. Take a look at the vehicle mode photos, the transformation is definitely different. The back of the truck are his legs with knees bent and the waist up near the top. Now look through the windshield. His arms and head end up inside the cab. Nothing like Infero/Grapple.

Are there more reveals today? I haven't paid much attention as I'd been finishing my Master's degree and it ate up a lot of my time.
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...

Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.
