I think the rumor says the alt-mode is the Prime version.

Wow...I'm glad I can avoid this altogether. I have a solid UW Menasor with the entire original team, and Prime Breakdown as part of UW Grand Galvatron

Right, I think that's the implication. There have been posts from randos saying they'd like to feed fake "news" to this site in other threads.

Hasbro wouldn’t do us dirty like that. All indications are that this will be more or less G1 cartoon (Sunbow) Menasor with current Generation stylings, like the strong G1 influence on most of the War for Cybertron Trilogy.

Well, we do have a whole Rumors thread containing news posts dedicated to Legacy and other upcoming figures, as well as a Rumors news category.

I know, but the rumors must at least be based on something tangible.

We haven't newsed these rumours yet and are unlikely to.

I still don’t think this rumor is true, but the idea itself is kinda fun: making an established combiner out of different individual versions of the Stunticons from across the multiverse, in a line where different Transformers continuities will be crossing over with one another. However, Hasbro knows that kind of high concept just won’t sell as well as a faithfully updated G1 version of the team.

Mmm, a LOT of skepticism to this one, but I'm gonna post what got added overnight before I start responding to any of it specifically, namely:

...not quite that, but the leaker is saying we're getting as follows:
-Dragstrip is the only one that is full-send G1 (who we have already seen)
-Motormaster and Dead End both have references in their decos to other versions of them, RiD15 Motormaster and RotF Dead End specifically
-Wildrider has a chainsaw like his Stunti-Con Job version
-Breakdown is a G1-ish TFP Breakdown but also a Menasor limb

This neat idea would be perfect for Select.

Honestly if these guys were CW compatible, I'd be more willing to believe these rumors because then they'd be able to say "CW Breakdown is able to replace the new Legacy Breakdown in combined mode", but as is I'm struggling to fully believe it

Well, if the Menasor leg design is such that you just plop the leg bot in car mode into a sleeve, then you don't need CW compatibility, you just need a 5mm post on the leg/foot where the back bumber of the car goes, and viola, compatible. And this would translate to just about any CW car that would physically fit in the sleeve. I don't think that is what Hasbro would do, but they did just make a tower mode for Slammer to use on a toy that came out even before CW, so who knows anymore.

At any rate, I think it's much more likely that there will be some way to have a G1-style Legacy Menasor complete with race car Breakdown than an SUV for a leg with no way to replace it. The context for the rumor was, "wait until you guys hear this, it'll make everyone mad." I'm not going to act like Hasbro doesn't make mistakes, but they don't go out of their way to antagonize the fandom.

I did say almost spotless, so we're in agreement there, and they DID say they retired....but have still been leaking things after that statement anyway, namely some of the Beast Wars reissue stuff, the rumored 4-pack of Goldbug, Ransack, Toy Scorponok, and Paralyzer, and they were one of the ones that indicated that the Wreckers stuff is Amazon-exclusive.

The only indication that exists so far is that we've seen Dragstrip, and the rumor/leak says that Dragstrip is the most G1 Stunticon of this lot. I don't think anyone has explicitly said we are getting SPECIFICALLY G1 Menasor, people just assumed that based on the listings having all the names of the G1 Stunticons because no one really considered it being Prime Breakdown. And in terms of "they wouldn't do us dirty like that"....I feel like the majority of people that are/are gonna be upset by the apparent lack of G1 Breakdown are those also upset that Earth mode "core G1 cast" guys were exclusives, in which case they've already been done dirty.

They seem quite competent at doing it unintentionally, though.

I am by NO means saying this is 100% true, but honestly? Would barely be fazed if it was, and this might be how they actually get me to invest in some of these Stunticons I was otherwise skipping.

It's a double-edged sword sometimes. There are multiple "what were they thinking" examples that come to mind. Some of them do get corrected and resolved in time, some don't. In any case, while Hasbro/TT don't owe anyone explanations for the decisions they make, sometimes it would go a LONG way towards improving relations with fans.

For Example:. When Siege Chromia first came out, and it was revealed she was NOT CW/PotP compatible, many fans (including myself) were highly disappointed. But of course, by then I'm sure the design team knew Greenlight and Lancer were in the works, with one simple statement "Don't worry fans, Elita's team will be complete eventually, we hear you", or something like that, it would have quieted most of the disparaging talk that followed.

...I feel like it's equally if not more likely no one is running it as news because there's no physical proof of it and therefore no one can attest to it yet, as opposed to things like Jazz-retool Knockout showing up in the Wreckers comic. I don't know who you think has high enough influence to have seen every wave of Legacy before the line has even started that also isn't restricted by NDAs or other legal tape to keep them from firing in here to say a newsed rumor is incorrect.

Plus, haven't the only leaks/rumors that have ever been explicitly taken down by Hasbro in recent years been the PotP stuff specifically because it was actually correct? If it's false, why would they care? That would just make the people upset by the rumor even happier when G1 Breakdown showed up anyway.

I agree we shouldn't news it, but this path of logic as to why is weird to me.

I'm using inductive reasoning. Retailers, investors, and even some influencers are privy to a LOT more information on Transformers a LOT sooner than you even think. The PotP leak, which leaked the entire toyline several months ahead of the shipment of the first wave of product, was part of an investor/retailer presentation from Hasbro. In fact, that's the same reason that we had proof about Titan Class Cybertron Metroplex so soon. Someone leaked a slide from a presentation shown to, of all places, Dollar Tree. People have also seen Menasor and other figures in the later waves, but no tangible evidence has really leaked yet, in large part because of those NDAs.
