Laser Prime just arrived. I definitely like him but why didn't they paint the area around his eyes silver? It just looks weird with him having blue eyes surrounded by blue plastic

Well, why go to all the trouble of writing all that other tripe when you agreed? Oh well, each to their own...
They were being sarcastic
And so was I...

We know for 100% fact that they are not preexisting tooling but are indeed brand new parts, thanks to designer Mark Maher's Instagram post that showed all the new tooling for both Spindle and Impactor still in the "early prototype sample" stage attached to the preexisting finalized versions of the Impactor and Paleotrex molds, and even spelled out that the new parts are gang-molded between the two figures, meaning that these new parts were made specifically for this Wreckers set.primalxconvoy wrote:These "new" parts were probably already designed alongside the original fossilizers and introduced later.

Been playing around with him since he arrived yesterday.
First thought, why is his transformation so annoying?
His ab piece keeps popping off the hinge. His arms fall of the swivels. Not sure why the decided to design brand new hands for him. Earthrise had really good and articualted hands.
His eyes will need at least a foil sticker. Seemks they made them translucent blue, but since the back of his head is not also translucent they look very very dead.
The OG still rules. Not sure why they felt they had to do this so complicated. The simplicity of the original transformation is one of its major strengths. All they had to do was copy that and give him wrist swivels.
The attempt is better than the last 2 updates by a mile but still far away fom the orignal. TR suffers form being a triple canger, and Reveal the Shiled is just a fidly mess.
The tanker works with deluxe Movie Prime at least.

Unless there's a discrepancy between lighting, etc, it's a shame this new version doesn't match the original G1 colours that well.

It's not the lighting. That newer Springer is really that pale. The G1 original looks good, but the light colors on the new one just makes the whole package garish.

Hasbro seems to really like primer gray for some reason, they seem to use it a lot. Dark gray and the brighter green would have been much more appealing, practically Nemesis Springer.

That's why I'm sticking with the second, Japanese (store exclusive?), repainted T30 version, which was more "anime accurate"?

Ah, that's the thing that bothered the back of my mind.
With these colors, that Springer looks "unfinished."

So, I got my Dragstrip today. He is pretty decent. the robot mode is fairly plain, though i do like the head, though not as much as the CW head. the transformation was really interesting for me, I liked doing it both directions. The alt mode is definitely a good mode, and it is amazing how not really much of the robot is readily apparent in alt mode. I don't mind the head as a seat, it is pretty neat.
Overall, he isn't bad at all.

And now for a shot of my completed Legacy Wave 1 acquisitions. Overall, pretty decent. All 4 have some good qualities to them. No stinkers really in terms of molds, just character choice for the mold.
In terms of future of the line when looking at these, Iguanus makes me really excited for more Pretenders to come, and I am hoping we get a bunch more. Dragstrip inspires some degree of confidence in Menasor, and right now Wildrider is probably the wave 2 figure I am most excited for. Arcee and Bulkhead, well, I've said my piece on Prime universe stuff enough already. though i do look forward to giving Bulkhead a 2nd mace in the fall.
I rank them:
1) Arcee
2) Iguanus
3) Dragstrip
4) Bulkhead

Agreed. Dragstrip is very well made in both modes,a nd the transformation is engaging but not difficult. I enjoy him more than i though I would.. gives me hope for the rest of the stunticons. Have Wild Rider and Motormaster on Pre-Order.

The only Legacy figures I have right now are Blaster, Skywarp, & Dragstrip.
Haven’t opened Dragstrip yet… May not.
Won’t go into why, but I appreciate reading some positive feedback about him.
I’m pretty anxious about the rest, & am most anticipating Motormaster from this line.
Although I’m very excited about Kickback as well.
I’m about to preorder Jhiaxus… Which is very unexpected.
But he’s a perfect example of a figure that is just different enough to really pull me in.
And after watching a review, I want to point out something—
Forearm panels.
It wasn’t long ago someone went off on a lecture about why & how these just weren’t realistically possible anymore, & essentially that it was stupid for me to bring this up as an issue.
So clearly it’s not stupid (which I knew that thought never was), & also it’s clearly possible.
It’s happened. In 2022. With a voyager figure, which while it doesn’t have crazy engineering, it does have a decent amount of sculpted & molded details (love the head/face, those details on the shins, & the asymmetric design on the back panel), paint apps (appreciate the inside of the thrusters being red), articulation including articulated hands, as well as 2 weapons (even though 1 is thin, it even has a little painted detail on it).
And I get it… Forearm panels on a figure probably isn’t going to become the norm…
But it probably should.
And to say it’s not a realistic possibility is very, very wrong.

Picked up Laser Prime today. Gotta say, he's pretty good. Not too much surprising, but it's still a good update I feel. Only thing I'd really change is the weird ratchets in the shoulders, and the staticness of the shoulder pylons. Otherwise I think he's a solid figure

Yeah the whole shoulder area is a bit odd, but aside from that I really like him and the only other change I would make is painting the area around his eyes silver.Sentinel_Primal wrote:Picked up Laser Prime today. Also, I wish they would stop making swords out of translucent plastic, I can't remember the last time a TF came with a translucent sword that wasn't bent right out of the box. Laser Prime's sword is no different so I have him holding Drift's Great Sword rn

In most lines I'd agree about the translucent plastic, but in this specific instance, I think the translucent sword is fine. TR voyager Prime's baffles me, as does the decision to cast Victory Saber's in the translucent mold, but I've also never had translucent swords bend on me, only the solid plastic ones like Springer's and sorta Kingdom Rodimus'

Well I was away from the boards for those other 3 Wreckers reveals...and none of them were good, so I guess it's fine.
I'm definitely still on team "Spindle was the good part of that first box" as well.
I do hope that they do continue this subline in the future though, it seems like a good way to some of the more obscure guys out like Leadfoot.

They would if the only way to sell them was to include them with more well-known/sought-after figures, such as G1/G2 characters.
I'm not sure how this is a rational response to what you quoted, as it's just a restatement of your main point as though that automatically makes it related to the quote about the retooling (which it isn't), but I'll humor it anyway.
So you're trying to tell me that HasTak believed (in your eyes correctly) that the fossilizers in these sets would not meaningfully contribute to additional sales, and yet they decided to invest retooling money (which isn't just thrown around) into giving both of them new parts and features that (allegedly) nobody would care about enough to buy them? The same penny-pinching HasTak that has reused leg parts on three straight Optimus Primes (despite him being the most popular character and those leg parts not working that well for Laser Prime), and is now raising prices faster that ever to keep up with skyrocketing production costs?
No, they wouldn't. It would be an unnecessary cost for (in your eyes) an inconsequential gain. They clearly considered the retooled fossilizers to be a selling point for these sets and something that would generate enough sales to warrant the cost sunk into them, otherwise they would have been simple redecos or something that actually would move the sales needle (like the Topspin that they decided wasn't worth making before these fossilizers). It's not rocket science, it's basic economics.
Others have pretty much addressed everything else in your post, so I won't make this any longer than it needs to be. I'm glad you clarified that the last part was meant to be sarcastic, though, because that's not how it came off to me either.

Yes!.
The shoulders are odd. I still fill the original mold holds up today and all it would need would be wrist swivels and ankle title, but I digress.
The warped sword is a bit annoying. will probably have to heat it up a to get it flat.
I'm expecting a 3rd party upgrade kit any time now with better weapons and better arms and hands too. Hopefully a new head with better eyes.
Not sure why they went with translucent eyes, with no actual light piping.

Actually, the weird thing is, it technically can light pipe. They just painted over the back of the head but not the eyes for some reason

Even weirder yes if that is the case.

Re: Transformers Legacy Line Discussion
Looks like Walmart is back to pre-pandemic status with their Legacy exclusive pre-orders. Pre-orders were due this week, the figures started showing up in stores and Walmart sent me about 15 emails letting me know they were pushed back to July. Its like Netflix wave 1 all over again, so I'm assuming I'll find them in store this week. Welcome back Walmart.

That was pretty much the case with all Netflix waves, also with a good chance the pre orders could be cancelled altogether. Best of luck, I hope you are able to get the ones you want one way or another.

At least they are stocking them online. In-store is a Transformers desert...they are barely carrying anything anymore
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Just saw a couple photos of Legacy Override…
I think he looks pretty cool, although I’m not sure about the vehicle mode.
