I'm not even talking about bizarre in terms of name recognition. But, the fact that surely it is easier to release one figure before a combiner team? Even one with an ..ill-defined altmode.

Harder to make, yes. Way easier to sell AND a line seller, hell yes!

Maybe they looked at how bad the previous Fallens shelfwarmed and they nope'd.

I think The Fallen could work as a DELUXE. Meaning a big deluxe with no altmode. Just an action figure, really. So the saved parts counts could be used to give him more "meat". In box, he would be in a "ball" or something.

That same deluxe Fallen could be sold as a two-pack with a transforming guy. Maybe "drowned" RotF Megatron?

I'm told the SS Constructicons are all round pretty good, just not an aesthetic I care for. How about instead of releasing him as a monoformer, why not retool '07 Megatron with a Fallen headsculpt? I'm pretty sure he had some, similar kind of Jet Mode in the Bayformers comics.

Shelfwarmers are always an interesting subject. Normally with lots of different factors leading to that status. For example, BW Inferno was an infamous one. Stranger still, considering his prominence in the show. Yet, MP Inferno will come along sooner or later. The sales for that one will be very curious to see.

I'm sure it's the lack of an actual alt mode that is holding up The Fallen. Perhaps the SS designers just want to do it right. I could easily see him being a large voyager figue, or leader. I don't even collect SS, but I like to follow it's progression, and hope for fans of the line that as many characters get made as possible.

AS for BW Inferno, I don't remember him shelf warming nearly as much as his wave mate (or at least I think it was) Transquito. That sat around forever. Not sure because of a lack of presence on the show, or it was just something nobody seemingly wanted.

According to the Wiki:

Paul Ozzimo and Josh Nizzi designed Earth modes for The Fallen to take on in Revenge of the Fallen, but like many of the Decepticons he does not assume one in the finished film. Ozzimo clarified on his website he was to turn into an Aurora stealth bomber, the alleged modern replacement for the SR-71 Blackbird.

He was probably the most botched movie debut.

I adore Transquito! If only more of the Bug Bots made it into the show. Especially a Triple Changer.

That is one of the main reasons why I really enjoy BWII. His name and alliance was changed, but still you get to see most of the toy characters not featured in the original BW series. Even if they are featured only in a few episodes, it's better than nothing.

I looked up a bit more info on the Wiki, his toys do have an altmode...





He transforms into a WTF err... "Cybertronian Destroyer". I just assume from the discourse that he never had an altmode, outside of print media.

The Japanese series has some of my favourite figure designs in that show. I just can't watch it and I've really tried.

If they managed to release Shockwave,I'm sure they could do it with The Fallen.

Seriously. All this speculation on the why is silly, the why is that there's like a hundred robots in the movies and they put out about 20 a year, so some of them will inevitably take longer. They did Shockwave, they'll do the Fallen. It's just a matter of waiting for SS-86 to be over.

That official altmode of the Fallen toy was just the bot doing yoga. Even '07 Megs altmode look more like a spaceship than this.
But that Aurora Bomber idea is very interesting. Imagine a heavy retool of SS Jetfire. The challenge would be to hide the plane kibbles effectively so that the bot remain the most movie accurate possible.

I wouldn't be opposed for another try at a Cybertronian vehicle mode for the Fallen.
The original can look pretty cool from some angles.

There's an intent, but it's sure is failing. Still, if they succeeded at updating '07 Megs (if you conveniently ignore the inaccurate chest) something can definitely be done for The Fallen.

The arms and legs shapes are also way different for that,I think.

This suppsoed leak, specifically the bit about the Transformers: Legacy line, has got me thinking about what to do with my collection display going forward. At the moment I have two Detolf shelves dedicated to Studio Series Michael Bay characters, and I've recently got the Decepticon shelf to a point where I'm satisfied with it, but I'm also tempted in getting some of those Shattered Glass toys on Hasbro Pulse, and as I've said already on this thread, Legacy and its inclusion of Prime characters has piqued my interest. So I kind of have the half-formed idea of re-working the Studio Series shelves into a "Multiverse" display with lots of different characters from outside the G1 continuity.
For the hero shelf I'm thinking Michael Bay's Bumblebee and Ironhide, Shattered Glass Megatron and Starscream, the Prime Arcee mentioned in this leak and two or three other non-G1 Autobots, while the villain shelf could have Shattered Glass Optimus and Ratchet (if indeed I can still get that set anywhere), Michael Bay's Megatron, Barricade and Blackout, and whatever Legacy has in terms of non-G1 Decepticons. Of course I know I shouldn't be jumping the gun like this based purely on a rumour when there's nothing like store listings or product codes yet, but it's fun to think about nonetheless.

So I go on a two-week vacation, and return to SS going full G1, all the Bee movie characters who had 3 seconds of screen time getting toys before the literal main villain of RotF, and Prime characters getting generations figures?

Alrighty then.

Those discussions of who is important enough to get a toy kinda bother me,because I don't feel other lines have to justify their characters choices as much.

A new drop from the main TFW leaker says the Headmaster Juniors are coming (Nightbeat and Hosehead in mainline, Siren as Selects). If true, then with Nightbeat and Blaster supposedly coming, my Big Generations Wants list would now be down to just Star Saber, Sunstorm, Sandstorm, and Minerva.

But isn't that the whole reason SS "traditionalists" are upset? Characters that appeared for a couple moments in BB are getting toys before other major Bayverse characters just because they are riding the coattails of the popularity of the Original characters' persona?

I mean several of TLK Deceptions didn't get much more screen time, than the characters on Cybertron in BB, but because of their recognizability ( or importance if you will) The BB Tf's are getting toys first? I really don't have a dog In this fight, I just find the discussion interesting. I would hope got everyone's satisfaction that all live action characters eventually get made in SS. Some say they are close, but by my count, there's still a long way to go. Plus the 7th live action film will extend the life of it even further.

I think the problem is that the TLK Decepticons were done dirty they first time around. Onslaught and Mohawk got no merch while Berserker got more than Nitro Zeus (despite being a gag). Not to mention that they were given some personality and then immediately killed off (which is kinda the reason people like Impactor now that I think about it). On the other hand, hasbro could sell me Barricade ten times because he was oozing with unique Decepticon energy... until TLK stripped that away.

With the BB stuff, it's clearly trying to advertise the new direction the series is taking. Dads will see the designs on the shelves (or more likely, trailers for the next film) and realise that Live Action Transformers now resemble their legacy designs.


Personally I'd love to see Toy Only bots get SS treatment once the Movie Cast runs dry. There were rumblings of a SS Breakaway a while back that never got past concept art. And I kinda think that's a big problem these legacy toylines run into; many of the characters we like are the toys we enjoyed and weren't featured in the main media. I love characters like 07 Payload, Skullgrin, Needlenose, etc because I've had them and formed my own memories with them but they'll never get full Generations treatment because they weren't featured in a cartoon or movie. That's why Hasbro cut Polar Claw entirely from Kingdom.
