Since I've sold my MP-05 a few years back, they'll have to use a pretty good picture to make me part with my sock-wearing ways.

There is a new picture of the MP-05 Golden Megatron at site sponsor's Big Bad Toy Store on the toy's page.

This is a picture of the toy in the plastic casing, giving us the best idea of the final product. Of note, the orange plug is not attached to the end of the gun (which may change if the toy is exported to the US), and aside from the gold, another deco change includes purple highlights around the abdominal area.

Grimlock looks pretty good- depending on how big you like your Dinobots he could fit in a Classics collection. MP-01 is pretty dated but all things considered is very impressive (and his robot mode proportions still look really nice even today). The pre-11 Seeker mold wasn't terribly G1 (as this was before Takara had settled on a "mission statement" for the MP line beyond "Really complicated and high end Transformers, wheeeee!") but engineering wise is pretty identical to MP-11 (arm cannon mounts and hip-pods aside) and I would kinda like to track down the original Japanese release of MP-03 as a standalone figure. As an MP representation of G1 Starscream he's pretty meh, but as a concept piece and a standalone figure in his own right he's actually not that bad. Also he's a perfectly scaled 1/60 F-15 (which I suppose applies to MP-11 too) so there is the chance for some fun options with other 1/60 scale mecha (PG Gunpla, some Macross figures etc).

I dunno, I'll always like Stargreen.

i think ive already covered my personal views on MP05, BUT i dont hate it. quite the contrary. yes it has many flaws, but i dont regret buying it.

but like i said, this gold version better blow my socks off. it doesnt really....

To those who dont like this, if Takara said they had sorted the balance issues, given him more rigid joints and beefed up the weaker parts would that change your mind?

I like MP Megatron but I already have one and he isn't currently on display due to only having so much room. This will be another MP I skip.

It's not that I don't like it, it's just that it has no place in my collection, and I think the $200 is better spent elsewhere. I'm not sure improved joints or balance would fix that underlying issue.

I've been looking for the CH-02 for a reasonable price... that's probably the best movie Megatron we're going to get, especially now that we have Galvatron on the scene.

Indeed, all of the above and mine even started to rust (in display stand) at the feet and the back.... sooo thank you but no thanks!
