Some suggestions:
Optimus and Bumblebee in their DOTM bodies.
The pink Bumbleebee that appeared on DOTM.
Bumbleebee into Cliffjumper.
G1 recolors.
EDIT:Starscream into Seekers.

LazerBEEk is a possibility, but the rest I don't see happening. It's not a staple of the MP line(s) to do the easy cheap repaints like a mainline.

If movie stuff sells better, then all the development money spent is justified.
I haven't handled any MPMs. Are they right on par with MPs?

It's hard to describe... In a way, they're exactly the same. In another way, completely differentCobotron wrote:I haven't handled any MPMs. Are they right on par with MPs?
I guess the best way to compare them to G1 MP's, is to imagine the same level of complexity (of recents like Megatron and Sunstreaker) only yielding completely differently looking results. And in general, feeling slightly less solid than their G1 counterparts.

Prime had new abs in robot mode, and Bee is always a different kind of Camaro in each movie.

In my opinion, Barricade is, and he is easily on par with my Sideswipe and Artfire. Bee is a bit below them, but still fairly good. Prime's transformation and alt mode really hurts him.
But Barricade, yes. they appear to be learning as they go. Of the 7 mps I have, MP-40 is by far the weakest.

Ranking the MPs is hard, but Hot Rodimus is definitely sort of soft. He feels light and not really hefty, the legs are kinda cheap feeling, and his entire alt mode is on top of his body, everything from the waist down does not have any alt mode stuff on it.
My rankings from 2 weeks ago I think:
1) Artfire
2) SG Prime
3) Barricade
4) Sideswipe
5) Bumblebee
6) Hot Rodimus
7) movie Optimus Prime
Top 4 are really hard to rank, they are all equally as loved. Bee is just a tad lower than those 4, and MP-40 and MPM4 are well below all 5 of those

I agree hence why I said they were not on par with the other MPs. Dont know about Barricade though. Regarding Ironhide though, something tells me a G1 MP would never have robot mode feet sticking out so obviously in the back.

The problem with the movie MPMs I have (Bee and Optimus) is that they seem to be bursting with inner robot detail that is hard to stuff back in. While the G1 MPs are more about reorienting or unfolding. MP Megatron has this absolutely beautiful motion of folding the top of the gun and having it fill up his sides. The same parts truly making the bots made up of the vehicles. Primal is super cool that way too. I would say Hot Rod feels most like an MPM toy but its the robot mode they compromised rather than the alt mode (so like reverse MPM Ironhide). I guess you could say they feel different just like how movie TFs (especially the cars) feel different from Car formers in the generations line.

Beast Wars Megatron is a full $100 more expensive than MP36. In the images we have so far, I see zero evidence for this increase, and as badly as I want this figure, I'm out.

if the trend continues, I will continue to get characters that are meaningful to me, like the movie guys, targetmasters, and Trailbreaker, but I will be far more picky.
Honestly, I paid $180 for MP SG Prime, and he is the most expensive Transformer in my collection, and rightfully so. Arfire was $135, Swipe $40ish, Rodimus $95, and the MPMs either $80 or $100.
Actually, the MPMs bring up an excellent point: MPM Optimus, who is ridiculously complex, almost on par with MP-36, cost $100 or $140 based on where you got him. So how the hell are we getting something 3 times the price of him that is maybe the same size and less complex most likely. Lights, electronics, and the accessories are not worth double the figure price.
Or maybe this is Takara subtly saying Beast Wars fan are far more successful than G1 fans

Firstly, I really do not find MPM Optimus to be close to being as complex to Megatron. Like not even close. The shoulders alone on Megatron are more complex than that toy. Instead, MPM OP is very similar to the previous ROTF leader if we have to find a toy to match that complexity to.
Also, we all know why MPM Optimus cost so little, they saved all that QC money and passed the svings onto us

Even so, I doubt BW Megs is any more complex than any of the movie MPs. he actually looks pretty straight forward.

So far I only have three of the MP collection, I would rate them as such:

2. MP40 - Hot Rodimus
3. MP34 - Cheetor
We'll see how this list changes with Dinobot and Shadow Panther added by the end of the year. As for whether I would continue to buy the MP line? Yes, with a caveat. Other than MP Springer and MP Galvatron, I have no interest in any part of the MP line other than Beast Wars. To that end, the frequency of releases leaves me plenty of time to commit the cash to buy them whenever they appear.

I'm not. But there's almost no justification for me to stick around. It's sad to see people passing on such an amazing figure. But I understand 100%. I kind of shrugged off Dinobot's pricetag because of his size, parts count, and sorcery of a transformation. But really, it was cause for alarm. Meg's on the other hand, is only slightly bigger, and can't have a bigger parts count or complexity. Compared to Dinobot (and past MP's like 36) it just simply does not add up. At this point it really just seems like gouging for the sake of gouging.Ironhidensh wrote:Beast Wars Megatron is a full $100 more expensive than MP36. Personally, at the end of the day I'm (begrudgingly) ok with it. MP's don't come out in waves on a TRU shelf 5 at a time, and they really are something special. So I'm still in.

It is true, MPs are spaced out enough that even if the price is hard to swallow, it's not 4-8 at a time

A have the most optimum solution to this quandary. Ditch the 3rd party stuff and even 1st party and save on for just MP Megs.
Total the savings and you get $300.00. Pragmatic ain't it? No oxygen consumed at all.
