Anyone else notice that Takara omitted Red Alert from the the back of Magnus' booklet as well as the stop-motion video?

I hope it means they're planning to redo him closer to the cartoon model. In my opinion he wasn't retooled enough from Sideswipe, as Smokescreen was from Prowl. My guess is that back then Takara was uncertain about this line so the budget for Red was lower.

Received my MP-22 Ultra Magnus package in the mail today. The box is really heavy. Box seems to be the same size as the MP-09 Rodimus Prime box.

In a day or Two, I'll open the box, Then Transform the toy back and forth. Probably going to put the toy on my MP-01, MP-05 and KFC MP Citizen Stack display shelf.

Took 11 days and now he's mine hahahaha .I'll upload pics later but overall........AWESOME! The weight, the girth, his mere presence! I'm giddy as a school girl.

Yes, one that's MP01 esqu, as in it's the same size and has the same functions, but it's actually accurate to the movie, and a small one that fits in his chest.

And why are we actually counting molded on Matrixes? I wouldn't count them, since they're just part of the figure and not separate. Which is why I didn't count any of those in the first place.

But the 4 month wait will probably save you $100.

While I don't have the toy, I will admit that all images show the figure to be at least a head too tall compared to Optimus. But considering that the size they went with was to keep his truck more in scale with Optimus's, I'd say it was a necessary decision.

Or rather, it is the only decision that makes any logical sense.

Scale-wise G1 Ultra Magnus stands taller than G1 Optimus Prime the same as the masterpiece equilavents do from each other (with MP-10 being roughly the same size as G1 Magnus). One integrates the truck robot, the other integrates the truck. The "scale" on the cartoon (which is inconsistent at best, wonky at worst) can't be relied upon for "real world" accuracy, but scaling the trucks can. He can't be any taller or shorter (or much in either direction) and do all the things the truck is seen to be doing either as a toy or in animation - holding 4 cars at once on the commercial and riding side by side with Optimus (in Rebirth) and that's going by the animation. In the commercial animation Ultra Magnus seems much larger in robot mode than what it ends up as in the cartoon. Since he is never seen with Optimus Prime standing in the movie we can't go by that, either.

In Rebirth, Ultra Magnus is repeatedly shown as the same size as Optimus Prime, although he alternates being same size or taller than Rodimus Prime in many episodes of season three. All of that makes as much sense as Powerglide being a midget or Starscream being smaller than Optimus Prime.

To be fair, the official scale guide Takara's using for the MPs does have Ultra Magnus being just a single head taller than Optimus, which the cartoon didn't get very far off from.

Btw, found one BB at my local TrU. Wasn't on the self with the other TFs, was on the floor a couple of isles away Just left him there and kept on walking.

It's pretty good. And very impressive, considering that Optimus = tractor; and Magnus = tractor + trailer.

My BB is shipping with Magnus, Jetfire, Tankor, Whirl and Roadbuster. If I proportion the freight BB comes to $64.

About TRU, it's d@mn if you do or don't if you can't find the fig you want. It's the same in Singapore, HK and RP.

Back to the figure.

Nice paint apps and plastic sheen. Tomy used the type of paint like that on MP 10's feet. The dull finish (mine's 2 years old) over the MP 01 glossy type seems to resist paint chipping.

The plastic has the character (matte?) similar to the TFA series. Though glossy shiny is my preference, this looks good on UM.

Diem iirc voiced concerns on how the shoulder connectors are kind of small to support the weight/mass of the arms, I agree and have some concerns too on the tabs that locks the folding carrier tray to the body.

Be very careful in untabing it. No accidents yet but this imo would be causing problems as the figure ages.

BB came to about the same price with shipping from HLJ. Going with nippon-yasan.com for the first time with UM and SS as their prices and shipping costs are a little less than HLJ.

As for the cost of UM at TrU Aust, he will probably be between $275 and $300.
