Would have been nice if they could have kept the back of the wings with out the folded up parts but the legs are looking really clean. the chest/cockpit looks better for no visible opening hinge (fingers crossed the canopy can still open) and looks better for being smaller.

Null rays just look odd here so not sure why even a prototype would have been tooled that way or if some other character would use the ones pictured.

Picked up my crappy ko off the shelve to have a play with and compare differences, that was a mistake. even if the new one was a piece of garbage or has self exploding crotch issues it is still going to win over my KO any day of the week. Looking forward to replacing it but not so sure I'd go for all the other seekers in the new version.

I’ll be honest, I’m taken aback at how much I like this. Like I like my MP-11 crew enough that I don’t necessarily need this but even then I might go for a version of this.

That's my concern as well. This figure has no electronics so it wont be in the upper price range. MP-49 Black Convoy was 28,000JPY, but can be had for under 20,000JPY in places. Considering his size and complexity I think he's the closest to what we can expect from Starscream. The problem is the accessories like full coronation gear and most likely a new flight stand, that could really drive up the price. We've seen what that sort of thing can do to prices with the MP Beast Wars figures so it's a pretty realistic fear.

I do hope that when we do get the Thundercracker and Skywarp reprints, they'll at least come with their own flight stands so you can at least pose all of them together without needing to buy additional stands like some of the MP Beast Wars figures.

Accessory wise all I keep coming back to is coronation gear and megs in pistol mode. Maybe different faces so you can pose him either scheming behind Megatron or grovelling instead.

There was a slingshot in MTMtE, a random gun and a drill attachment in The Core, a claw attachment in Cosmic Rust... and I guess Doctor Arkeville?

And missiles of course.

MP-11 Starscream was a huge milestone in my collecting (first MP I bought with my own money, first MP Decepticon) so for me to turn around and chuck it along with his cronies out the window in favor of the new style wouldn’t sit right with me and would feel like a betrayal to myself.

Damn... love it. It's a thing of beauty. I already have MP Acidstorm, Skywarp and the yellow chap (Sandstorm? The TRU Exclusive) and I hate them all. I've never owned a MP Starscream either. An easy sell. Maybe.

But did someone say $300 for repaints and redecoes? I think this will clock in at nearly $300 on its own. TakaraTomy will MP44 it with accessories: three swap heads and electronics; an unnecessarily elaborate base to allow a (flying) jet & battling robot pose; all of the bells & whistles from Starscream Supreme (cape, crown etc); various unneeded cartoon props (energon cubes etc). The only thing I fear is the price.

I couldn't bring myself to buy MP44, but I did get MP49. Aesthetically, I love it, and the price was acceptable (almost). But (a). He's still not fully/properly transformed: that final stage where about 8.2million torso panels are tweaked, shoved, rotated and (kinda) aligned, and the backpack section clips under the head...I just can't get it right, so there's space between the windows and the top of the faux grille in robot mode (anybody help with this? 5 YouTube reviews have not solved the issue). And, (b). I really do wish TakaraTomy would balance fun & enjoyment with their undeniably dazzling and brilliant engineering. It's a downer.

MP Grimlock was, and still is, my favourite, definitive Masterpiece. And the transformation is so simple, even an idiot like me can do it without a four hour YouTube watchalong. It needs some fixes (inside leg-tail rotation and fold, all joints, all articulation), but in concept and execution, it's perfect. Wish TT would revisit this kind of Masterpiece from time to time.
