While this could always be a fake, we wanted to share an image that has been making the rounds on Facebook. It is of MP-56 Trailbreaker. Takara had announced that they had MP Trailbreaker and Hoist in their sights years ago and we are finally seeing it now. Usually when we get images like these, and they are real, it is not long before we get the full on reveal with the price. Let us know what you think!

I gotta say, that's quite impressive. I never liked the Trailbreaker design with the very heavy kibble arrangement but the cartoon smoothed it out and now this MP recreated that look.

My concern here is that if this is genuine, it will make the spacing of releases for MPG Trainbots even further apart. Many of us thought we would here something about the 3rd release mid-late April. There has been nothing as of yet.

Given how much wider and squatter than Trailbreaker Hoist was in the cartoon, I'd expect his MP to either be a completely new mold or one that borrows only a small bit of altmode pieces.

Not a huge G1 Masterpiece collector, but that looks slick. They've nailed the MP line.

Now if only they could put the same care and budget into the MPM line :-?

It's 5 days. Unless Takara had a special event planned just for the reveal, it's probably not a terminable offense.

As for the figure, it's definitely based on TB from the opening of season 1. He looked wider in the actual episodes.

I think size will have more to do with it than anything. A City is a small car and this is a truck, his bot mode should be the same size as Ironhide, Ratchet, Inferno and Grapple. Hoist is the same height, but his silhouette is quite different, not sure how they'll handle that.

Trailbreaker is third to the right of Prime on the top row, Hoist is in the middle of the fourth row between Grapple and Blaster.

So far this figure looks fantastic, interesting that he comes with spare heads (or halves of his head) instead of just extra faces.

I have been waiting for a cartoon MP Jazz for the longest time.
Must be Porche or Martini licensing issues

Or maybe Hasbro is like, “No alcohol brand associations with toys!” (Just like WB and guns) -_-

Or they could just put a special, “Ages 21 and up” or “Adults only” for Jazz.

Makes little difference to us old foggies here :lol:

And for the record, it's all Porsche, tho they may await the result of Cliffjumper first. The sponsorship licensing excuse went out the window with Wheeljack and Exhaust.

Much like how, if they actually cared that much about the licensing excuse. Takara would have pumped out the non-license designs to fill the void ala MP Insecticons, Dinobots etc

Fans will probably be happy since Takara is going all out for Trailbreaker. The full reveal shows us all the accessories he comes with which are all done to recreate scenes from the G1 show, like the multi nozzle hand, the satellite dish and even an interchangeable grill to have a more toon look. He comes with 3 faces and effects parts as well. You can see all of that in the screencaps below of the reveal video which was mirrored by Cybertron 21 on Youtube. The toy is over the 20 K Yen mark, so not at all like the cheap price point Skids had. However, with the Japanese retail standard of selling locally at less than MSRP along with a very big currency exchange advantage, American fans could pay anywhere between 135-160 before shipping when all is said and done. But first you will see online listings of the 160-170 range from domestic importers which are sure to be in our upcoming sponsor posts.

I can't help but feel he should be darker. If not black, at least a darker shade of grey. I know that's not the hyper-toon-accurate thing Takara are now focusing on, but I think the 3rd party releases fit my personalised ideal aesthetic for this character a little more closely.

Aside from that, the only real nit-picky thing I could say about the mold is that those voids left on the sides of the torso (the wheel-wells) make for a bit of an eyesore. Either that or the blue of that window breaks the continuity of colour in a manner that looks out of place.

Overall though, I foresee a mass recall of pre-orders for FT-Outrigger happening in the imminent future lol.

Agree on the torso being a bit messy with the windows being visible through the wheelwels. Also no license? I think he's supposed to be a Toyota Hilux, right?

He looks so solid, this just makes me SUPER excited for Hoist. Been waiting for him forever.

Also, man, that Bee 2.0 just looks bad from every angle.

This is purely the work of wizards or witches lol. Just amazing looking and I cant believe they have all those legs/arms fit inside such a small looking torso. I cant wait to see Moist now, which is my fav of the two. This is one of the best looking Masterpiece figures in a while, :TAKARATOMY:
