Chapter 4: Conflict
The four Decepticons had stopped two hundred metres away from the Autobots. The Autobots maybe out-numbered, but they could still fight, depending on teamwork and friendship that they’d relied on for so many years since Optimus Prime had lead them.
The Veyron transformed to form Stormcutter, his blood red optics stared into the golden ones of his arch nemesis, Spiritimus Prime. The female leader lifted a taloned finger and she spoke in a clear voice that held strength and confidence. “Leave these humans out of this, Stormcutter! Or face my fiery breath!” she snarled.
Stormcutter waved a hand as the two jets and the missile tank transformed and landed on each side of him. “Don’t play petty with me, Spiritimus Prime. I’ll crush those humans and take what is rightfully mine!” Stormcutter hissed back as he took one of his wings off and it formed into a cannon, he pointed it down at the human children and fired.
As swift as an arrow, Spiritimus lifted a wing and shielded the humans and the little robots. She winced as she absorbed the blast and Esmeralda looked concerned at the female. Shaking the pain off, Spiritimus looked down at the children, her gaze was gentle, but firm. “Run for it now,” she whispered to them.
Nodding, Esmeralda pushed Clarabelle, Ajax and the little robots towards a pile of rocks and she followed in suit to ensure they got there first.
Spiritimus lifted her wing and she returned to her open stance. “I’ve warned you Stormcutter, this will be the last time that you ever harm these children,” she hissed as she spread her wings, like as if she was trying to form a shield around her Autobots and the children.
Stormcutter laughed evilly and he turned to the black and silver mech. “Blackfire, take to the skies,” he ordered. The mech, he’d addressed as Blackfire, nodded and transformed to his jet form. Stormcutter then motioned the red and silver mech, he nodded and he too transformed to his jet mode and followed behind Blackfire.
The two jets fired on Spiritimus and she, Razorwind and Rápido spread out, trying to keep the energy blasts away from the children. Rápido took out his plasma pistol out and fired at the red and silver jet. “Shoo, Starscream, don’t bother me!” he joked as the shot hit the jet and he was forced to transform back into robot mode, landing painfully on his back. “Cocky kid,” the jet, Rápido addressed as Starscream, hissed and he took out his wing saber and flung it like a boomerang (yup Armada Screamer is back).
The wing saber caused Rápido’s hand to fly upwards and he was forced to let go of his plasma pistol. It sailed above his head and landed with a thud on the ground. He tried to make a grab for it when a red and silver foot stamped down on his hand, causing him to wince in pain. He looked up into the cold orange optics of his opponent as his plasma pistol’s barrel was crushed by the seeker Decepticon. “You’re just as cocky as ever, Rápido,” Starscream rasped.
Rápido grinned as he used his free hand to punch Starscream in the ankle and the Decepticon was forced to lift his foot up and Rápido rolled away, taking out his grenade launcher and he pointed it at Starscream’s head.
Spiritimus had charged forward to meet Stormcutter, but Blackfire had dived down on her, she growled but ignored him. He swooped down on her again and her tail wrapped around his nose cone and flung him away, forcing him to crash into the back of his ally, Rapidfire.
Rapidfire, who’d been facing Razorwind, felt a huge force on his back and he collapsed on his hands and knees. Blackfire picked himself up and he growled down at Rapidfire. The missile tank Decepticon shoved him away and he returned to Razorwind, who’d taken to the skies and had taken her mane off, she dived down toward Rapidfire and prepared to slice him when he’d dodged the attack, much to her surprise.
Rapidfire pointed his cannon at her side and prepared to fire when a light, but strong body crashed into him with incredible force. Growling, he turned, only to come face to face with a dark blue and pale blue fist. He stumbled back from the force as Spiritimus lifted her tail and whacked him in the face with the blunt end of the arrow tip of her tail just hitting the side of his face.
Razorwind nodded her thanks as Spiritimus returned to face Stormcutter. She didn’t have much of a sense of humour, but she tried to crack a joke. “Take your toys back, Stormcutter,” she smirked. Stormcutter looked enraged and he charged towards the female commander with incredible speed, but it didn’t take her by surprise.
She charged forward and her hands met with her opponent’s. They were locked in a battle of strength, to see who would back off or start to weaken. Their eyes never lead astray from each other, they squinted with hints of anger and hatred directed right at each other until Stormcutter backed off and pointed his wing saber cannon at his enemy.
But instead of shooting it at her, he fired at the mountain and a landslide started. In quick thinking, Rápido rushed forward and picked the humans and the Gestaltcons in his arms, shielding them from the landslide, but he was also covered by the dirt.
Spiritimus shifted her concern to Rápido. “Rápido, are you alright?” she called. Razorwind had flown in and had uncovered the black racer. “He’s okay,” she replied to the concern Autobot leader. Rápido smiled and removed his arm that covered the humans and Gestaltcons. “There’s not a scratch on them, ma’am,” he said.
Spiritimus gave a sigh of relief and she returned to battling Stormcutter. Rápido placed the children back down when Clarabelle pointed to something that the blast had uncovered. Three glowing panels inside a small cave gave a sign that more Gestaltcons had been uncovered.
“Let’s check it out,” Rápido suggested and he and the children approached the cave. He placed the children in front of the cave’s entrance and he waited while they went inside to take a look. Esmeralda pulled a blue one out, Ajax uncovered a black one and Clarabelle removed a grey one from the wall. “We’ve got them,” Esmeralda called.
Rápido nodded and he was about to get them out when Blackfire appeared and shot him in the back. Rápido fell onto his stomach while the kids screamed and tried to make a run for it. Luckily for them, Blackfire had the one that Ajax had hold of. He’d hardly noticed the other two, much to the kids’ relief.
Rápido managed to get up just as Blackfire warped away. He was in a bowed position and he was rubbing his injured back. Familiar foot-steps echoed around him and he looked up to see Spiritimus and Razorwind. “I’m sorry,” he whispered. Spiritimus smiled as her face-plate retracted to reveal her face. “You didn’t fail, Rápido,” she said gently as she placed a taloned hand on his shoulder.
“Yeah, we’ve still got the other two,” Esmeralda encouraged as she held up the blue one, while Clarabelle held up the grey one. “You see? Not all were taken away,” Spiritimus said as she gently squeezed his shoulder. “But Blackfire got the other one,” Rápido said as he stood up. “Don’t worry, we’ll win it back. Somehow,” Razorwind said.
“Gee, aren’t you a ray of sunshine,” Rápido said sarcastically.
Spiritimus laughed and she turned to look down at the humans. “We should get back to the ship, you know the way, right?” she asked. Esmeralda smiled. “Yes,” she answered as she climbed onto Leogriff’s back, Clarabelle and Ajax also climbed onto their partners’ backs and, with Spiritimus in the lead, headed back to the ship where this whole little war had started.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
“They must have a base somewhere near here,” Razorwind said. “They must be on the moon, because we can’t find them anywhere on Earth,” Rápido said as he folded his arms across his chest.
“It’s a possibility, but we know that Stormcutter will be back,” Spiritimus said and she looked at the humans who stood on a balcony that was the same height as her. “We don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but what are these little robots and what are you?” Clarabelle asked.
“I apologise. Those little robots that are your partners, are called Gestaltcons,” Spiritimus explained. “Gestaltcons?” Ajax asked. “Gestaltcons are named because they are capable of forming into a bigger robot. Only three can form into a more powerful version,” Spiritimus explained.
“But why are you after them?” Esmeralda asked. “It’s mostly the Decepticons that want them, not us. They want them for a single purpose that will endanger the entire Universe. When all Gestaltcons are found, they are taken to a certain place at a certain time. When that happens, an amazing thing will happen, but we don’t know what will happen if the Decepticons get them first, but we have the feeling that it can’t be good,” Spiritimus answered.
Esmeralda then spoke up, “Don’t the Gestaltcons do something else?” she asked. “Unfortunately, they do,” Spiritimus answered. “When all three combine into their Gestalt form, they can combine with a certain Transformer and activate new abilities. A single one can only increase a weapon by making it stronger,” she explained.
“But if the Decepticons want them, don’t you want them too?” Ajax asked. “Yes, but we treat them as friends and equals. But the Decepticons treat them as slaves and tools, caring for nothing about them,” Spiritimus answered.
Esmeralda, Ajax and Clarabelle looked at each other, and then back at Spiritimus Prime. “This was all my fault,” Esmeralda sighed. “What do you mean?” Spiritimus asked. “I activated that panel and it brought you guys here. I guess Earth’s got involved in a war,” Esmeralda answered. Spiritimus shook her head. “You’re wrong.”
The kids looked up at her in surprise. “Don’t blame yourself. We’d been waiting for a long time for the Gestaltcons to be reactivated. The moment you picked up that panel, our battle had been renewed.”
“Well, I guess we should introduce ourselves. I’m Esmeralda, this is Ajax and Clarabelle,” Esmeralda began as she pointed to her two friends. “I’m Spiritimus Prime, leader of the Autobots and daughter of Optimus Prime,” Spiritimus introduced herself, she then pointed to her warriors. “Braves ones, introduce yourselves,” she said.
“My name’s Razorwind,” Razorwind began. “And my name’s Rápido, mostly because I have the need for speed,” Rápido slightly boasted in his Spanish accent. “Wait, that name means speed in Spanish,” Esmeralda cried, “you’ve also got a Spanish accent, how’s that possible?”
“It’s a little hard to explain, but we reckon Rápido spent too much time watching Spanish movies,” Razorwind joked. Rápido glared at her as the kids laughed and Spiritimus
When they’d calmed down, Esmeralda turned to Spiritimus. “We’ll help you look for the Gestaltcons. Please let us help,” she begged. Ajax and Clarabelle begged. Spiritimus shook her head. “Why, on Earth, not?” Ajax asked.
“We don’t want to get you involved. Too much is at stake,” Spiritimus answered. Esmeralda smiled. “Too bad for you that we’re already involved, not to mention you don’t know half a thing about Earth. Things have changed over the past one hundred and twenty years,” she said.
Spiritimus looked a little concerned, she hated to involve others in these wars, too much had happened while she’d been leader, and, because of her foolish decisions, people had gotten hurt. She will never be as great as her father. Never. But she remembered that her father had involved humans before, and they’d turned out to be the best allies that no other Autobot could ever imagine.
Maybe she should allow these humans like her father did. She just hoped she wasn’t going to regret this someday. She sighed. “Alright, you can help us. But you must do exactly as I say. I cannot afford to have anymore casualties due to my foolish thoughts. I’ve still got a lot to learn about this whole leadership thing,” she said.
The kids smiled at each other. Then, to the Autobots’ surprise, Esmeralda placed her hand in between them. “Let’s work together like no other human has ever witnessed,” she said. Ajax placed his hand on top of hers, while Clarabelle placed her hand on top of his. “All for one. And one for all,” she said. They did it again and they laughed.
“Is something wrong? You look confused,” Esmeralda asked Razorwind. “Yes, I guess I am. You placed your hands in the middle of each other and placed one hand after the other on top of each other,” Razorwind said. “We humans do that a lot on Earth, it’s a sign of a friendship that will last us a life time,” Clarabelle answered.
Rápido gave a smile and he moved his hand towards them. “Count me in!” he cried as he held his hand out to them. Clarabelle and Ajax winced, but Esmeralda didn’t even flinch. “I’m sorry. I just want to be accepted as your friend,” he said when he saw the two wince, but he was puzzled by Esmeralda when she didn’t move at all.
“Rápido.”
The flamed mech turned when he saw Spiritimus with her hand in the middle of the trio. Rápido got the message and he placed his hand on top of hers, Razorwind placed hers on top of his and the three Transformers smiled. “You know, I could really like this Earth tradition,” Spiritimus laughed.
Razorwind and Rápido laughed as well. “Friendship and teamwork till the end!” Spiritimus cried. The kids laughed as well when Leogriff, Icarus and Seidenfuss, and two new additions, Wildfire and Torchlight (an eagle and a phoenix), who were partners of Razorwind and Rápido, mirrored their partners and the humans.
Everyone laughed as they enjoyed their first time of friendship that could last more than just a life time.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The bell rang for the end of school, Esmeralda took out her hoverboard and she kicked it into gear. As she flew down the street to meet up with her friends, she began to think about the Transformers. It was amazing that there was such thing as aliens, what else could live out in the galaxy that was so far away from Earth?
She shook her head and she spotted Ajax on his motor BMX. She slowed the hoverboard down until her speed was matched with the BMX. “Hey, Ajax, you haven’t seen Belle haven’t you?” she asked. “Wasn’t she at school today?” he asked. “She was, but she didn’t meet me at the front of the school like we always do,” Esmeralda answered.
“Maybe she had homework for a test or something,” Ajax said as he pondered. Esmeralda looked concerned. It was not like Clarabelle to not meet at their usual meeting place after school, it was very rare that she was late. “Maybe she went ahead to go see the Autobots or something,” Ajax finally spoke up, interrupting her thoughts. “Possibly,” Esmeralda answered as they drew nearer to the Autobot HQ that had been set up on top of the ship.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When they arrived at the Autobot HQ, they got quite a surprise. The whole place had been transformed. Instead of being old and rusty looking like yesterday, it was clean and fresh with hardly a dent in it. They were about to take a look around when they saw Icarus and Leogriff rushing towards them with smiles on their faces.
“Okay, what happened?” Esmeralda asked with a slight hint of concern on her face. “Clarabelle came round as soon as school finished. She gave the finishing touches to the base,” Icarus answered in a feminie tone. “Without us?” Ajax asked in annoyed tone. “Oh don’t be jealous, Ajax, she’d gotten out of school early anyway,” Esmeralda said as she elbowed him in the ribs.
“Sorry,” Ajax apologised. “Hey!”
Esmeralda turned and saw Clarabelle rushing towards them with Seidenfuss running by her side. They stopped to catch their breaths just as Spiritimus Prime walked in. “You have quite a friend, Esmeralda. She’s got talent with adding finishing touches,” she said kindly. “Thanks, Spiritimus,” Clarabelle said as she blushed a little.
“Can you please tell me where you’re going next time, Belle, you had me worried,” Esmeralda said as she slightly frowned. “Sorry, Mera,” Clarabelle apologised as she twiddled her thumbs and fingers. “It’s okay, just don’t do that again,” Esmeralda whispered as she hugged Clarabelle gently to reassure her.
Rápido and Razorwind walked in, they also had smiles on their faces, and Spiritimus looked back at them. “The Gestaltcon energy detector is complete ma’am,” Razorwind said. “Good work youse two,” Spiritimus praised.
Ajax continued to gawk at the machinery. “Wow! This is like a candy store for geeks like me,” he wolf-whistled. “No kidding,” Esmeralda agreed as she raced into a lift until she was back on the balcony from yesterday. “It’s amazing isn’t?” Rápido asked. “You bet my money it is,” Ajax said.
Razorwind whispered to Spiritimus. “They act like they’ve never seen this before, ma’am.” “That’s because they’ve never seen a base or a ship. Remember, we’re highly advanced species than they are, despite how their technology has increased over the past one hundred and twenty years,” Spiritimus whispered back.
Razorwind looked puzzled for a moment before the alarms were raised. Leogriff rushed around in excitement. “Another’s coming online!” he cried. Esmeralda got the message. “Um, Leogriff said that a Gestaltcon has come online,” she said loudly over the alarms.
“Alright! Let’s go to the Command Centre and see where it is!” Rápido cried. Spiritimus then turned and headed for the Command Centre with Rápido, Razorwind, the kids and their Gestaltcon partners following right behind her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When they arrived at the Command Centre, Esmeralda got quite a shock. The giant computer had a picture of the Earth on its monitor, on the far right where Australia was located and flashing like crazy, was a tiny dot that was flashing a dark blue colour.
They’re activating all over the world! Esmeralda thought. It was true, the Gestaltcons had crash-landed on Earth and they were all over the globe, waiting to be found and brought to that certain place that Spiritimus Prime had spoken of. The adventure had begun.
