Kinda out of left field, tbh. This may be only the fouth Energon/Superlink homage we've gotten, next to Cloud Roadbuster, Legacy Megatron and Galvatron.

Japanese are a crazy bunch. They gave proper english names to Transformers.

Transformers New Legends Line Adds Nemesis Star Convoy And Shockwave
- Motto: "Spellcheck's antithesis."

There's nothing unusual about black repaint of Optimus Prime showing up where you least expect it in the Transformers franchise, but it has been a while since Takara Tomy took it upon themselves to do a Titan redeco, and one that didn't exist previously to boot. The next entry in the New Legends line is NL-03 Nemesis Star Convoy and Shockwave. As with the previous two entries this line continues to tell the "End of G1 Universe" in Japan, this time with a very unexpected twist. You see, at the end of the NL-02 G2 Menasor comic we see Missing Link Nemesis Prime step out of the Nemesis ship revealed as the embodiment of the Nemesis' AI. Star Nemesis Prime seems to be a further evolution of Missing Link Nemesis Prime, rather than the latest version of Black Battle Convoy/Scourge from RID 2001/Car Robots who had several adventures in recent Japanese comics despite the close resemblance. Likewise, Shockwave (erroneously called Soundwave in the original preview) appears to be the G1 character despite being colored like Energon Shockblast/Super Link Laserwave.
With that explanation out of the way let's talk about the figure itself. Nemesis Star Convoy comes with all of the same accessories as Age of the Primes Star Convoy with the exception of all but one effect part. Even though it isn't highlighted in most of the photos the Micro Trailer is included and shown in the picture of accessories, but a number isn't given, if there is one. And of course Hot Rod has been replaced by Shockwave this time around.
The figure is being listed early at Amazon Japan right now for 30,791 JPY or about $195 USD (unlikely to be the final price) with release in October. As usual this will likely be released outside Japan by Hasbro on Pulse and other online retailers.
What do we think, is a black repaint worthy of a double dip (or even a first shot) or is this asking too much from a mold that didn't really live up to its potential this first time? Let us know in the Seibertron Energon Pub forums! Thanks to Sabrblade for initially posting about this in the forums.

So lemme get this straight: he's called Shockwave, is supposed to be G1 character, but is colored after Energon Shockblast aka SL Laserwave... I think some wires are (intentionally) crossed

I don't know where the idea of the character being G1 Shockwave came from, as that's not evident in the manga and all speculation points to it being a resurrected Energon Shockblast/Superlink Laserwave, with the "Shockwave" name being due to Takara being unable to use the "Laserwave" name.Jelze Bunnycat wrote:So lemme get this straight: he's called Shockwave, is supposed to be G1 character, but is colored after Energon Shockblast aka SL Laserwave...
