Come on guys, I love you all but I don't know whats the use of fussing over any of this when we know its a mock up. We were pissed last time when hasbro showed a similar non transforming mock up of Trypticon at a closed doors event and now they are actually letting us see the process instead of us hearing it second hand. I think its an excellent step in the right direction and something we all wanted. Like when Takara shows concept art before a toy is out or grey model. So why are we pissing on Hasbro for letting us in on their process and showing us where they are at? They feel they can trust that we wont overreact by seeing something unfinished but the comments I read tell me that maybe they should revert to their old tactic of holding off before showing us stuff. Which I feel would be a loss for us.
We are smarter than this, I don't know why we cant appreciate this look into their process instead.

Rated X wrote:Remember back in the G1 days when each boxed figure came with a checklist showing the entire line for the year?

Hasbro should bring back that concept and discard the "teasers" and "reveals" concepts because its a total failure.

I LOVE checklists and I would love if they brought it back. I personally am all in favour of them letting us know what to expect in the next year for budgetting purposes and the like. I dont need to see them all exactly but I would like to know what is to come. Especially in a time when there are multiple versions of characters already and I may be interested in getting an "older" version.

I just like being a knowledgeable consumer is all and checklists are fun.

While I do think it's nice of hasbro to let us in on the fun and see predaking super early. I do think parts predaking look interesting like the hands and the lion head on the combined mode is coming along nice. Personally the only thing I would change about the mock up is darw a smiley face on it. For me at least the mock up just isn't doing anything for me except for it we will get to see how far predaking came which will be awesome and can't wait to see the finished product.

That is not a MOCK UP! Fake News! A mock up is a non colored resin type figure you see in them old JP Mooks like the orangey gray Fortmax back in the 80s. This item is more of the sofubi type figs. Even in the rumour section, GET IT RIGHT! >:oP

See that totally had been my initial thought, but it doesn't really seem to line up with any of Hasbro's previous offerings of that style in terms of size and articulation. Judging by the way the light reflects off the forearms, it also seems to be hard plastic not the softer resin-y stuff those kinds of toys are often made of.

No because im a paying customer with a wallet full of money. Im not someone who talks from the sidlines. I buy, buy, buy. And buyers are Hasbros real target audience, regardless of age.

You may not be old enough to remember, but I grew up with these:

https://www.google.com/search?q=80s+tra ... 1qZFkjmAaM:

We didnt have teasers or reveals because they prove nothing but stupidity. If anything the cartoons were teasers because we got the toys after seeing (and dying to get) the newest characters. The constant toy leaks every year from the Chinese homeland are proof that the tease and reveal strategy is a total failure. Maybe if Hasbro decided to move their Anerican designed toy operation to America and pay loyal American workers fair American wages, the leaks would cease. (And yes most of the Hasbro design team are now Americans, I been to enough Botcon design team pannels)

But with that being said, I think they should just bring back the checklist. Especially after Hascon fails this week. Other than the owners of fan sites, I dont see many fans on either here or tfw2005 making the pilgrimage to hascon to witness the big reveals that our good friends in China already revealed in style. ;)

They contract factories outside of America because it's cheaper to do so. In fact, I've heard that the factories are technically contracted by Takara, not Hasbro. I don't know if it's true or not, but if it is, then it's all technically Takara's fault, not Hasbro's.

If I'm remembering correctly, the Unicron Trilogy had checklists as well, or at least product catalogs. If my memory isn't faulty, then that means I grew up with checklists as well. I honestly could care less if they came back or not. They're just pieces of paper to me.

I know its cheaper than making the figures in America where they are designed. But in the long run, they get what they pay for with all these leaks and even unreleased items for sale early from the honorable factory workers that they pay 50 cents an hour. As far as the checklists go, yeah they are just pieces of paper. But what they symbolize is alot stronger. They symbolize a message of respect for the fans who collect. They say "This is what we got coming so get ready". In the G1 days, dont recall there being "waves" either in which you had wave 3 in hand but had no clue who was in wave 5. If anything, maybe you could call the combiner teams "waves". But they were waves with no stupid secrecy because if you want to know whats coming just look at your checklist. And thats when they were really just toys and nobody was really "collecting" them in the sense that we do today. Now that they are doing homage lines geared towards adult collectors, they should treat us like the adults we are. Not "look at the silhouette and guess whos coming" or "get ready for our reveals at hascon it will be huge". That crap is all stupid. Most people who buy chug figures are adults these days.

We don't know that for sure. All we know is that only 30% of the market is made up by fans 10 years old an up.

I don't know the whole story but its something like that, hence why its always written in the back of your box that the toy is licensed from TOMY.

I completely agree that checklists should be brought back, but for a different reason; fun. The whole reason that I am an adult collector, and I assume I speak for quite a few others, is for the fun of it. I've collected TFs since '84, and I love the characters wholeheartedly, but the reason I still collect them is for the fun of it. I don't have to think about politics, the market, my clients, my kids' college tuition, my bills, etc. The argument that you make that you're a paying customer with a full wallet is a valid one, but more fitting to TT's MP line, or Hasbro's half assed attempt at importing it. The primary purchaser of the Hasbro product is still for kids, and that is evidenced by the fact that the vast majority of product is purchased at Target, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, etc. and not an online only 'Matty Collector' type format.
As far as the checklists, I agree that I'd love to see a whole lineup in one shot, but I don't mind the 'blackout' concept, particularly on things they're not ready to show yet; it beats the coy wink and nudge deflections that are given out at botcon panels. I don't know if you're old enough to remember getting the old kenner Star Wars guys when they were new, but sometimes the newer characters were blacked out on the cardbacks, and the speculation of what they were going to look like was half the fun right there.

... is... this a conversation implying that the current Generations lines would be majorly improved to the point of significantly impacting sales figures... by bringing back checklists?

To be fair... I think it actually might help casual collectors, and kids (and their parents) to have check lists... to let them know there's more product than just wave (rotting at your local retailer). WE KNOW there's more... little joey may not know it's coming.

I think a check-list with the titan masters would have been fun; especially the single pack ones.

Mail away figures also are a missed opportunity.. imagine if you sent in Proof of Purchase for a combiner team and the mailed you a spare/alternate member (like groove). or the scout/mini "6th members" that were add-ons.

Imagine mailing in POP deluxe/voyager/leader "set" for an "exclusive Prime (titan master)".

Oh believe me, I like them. I think they're cool, I think they would be fairly helpful and it'd be awesome to see them back.

I just think their importance is being a liiiiiiiittle bit overstated. Just a little.

I like checklists and all but I'd rather have instructions that don't blatantly suck gearstick.

Original (that is, not just censored issues of IDW) pack-in mini-comics ala the days of Energon would be neat too. Those were so much fun.

I'd rather have Hasbro step up their game in their QC department. Jeez, 3 figures in a row that I got had nasty QC issues.

TR Trigger Happy with two right sides "sled-guns".

TR Windblade with two left thighs, one assemble backward too, making transformation impossible.

TLK Leader Megatron missing a tailfin in jet mode.

Jesus, Hasbro, just fire Chang already.

You know what else is gonna pale? THE PRICE. The only problem is will hasbro actually distribute this right or not (I'm guessing not since no big box sets/titans have been since Metroplex) :BANG_HEAD: :BOOM:

G1 style poster/catalogs/checklists were awesome, they should do something like that. Of course in those days you could have up to two years to find a particular figure, not two weeks... :-s

New Transformers: Power of the Primes Teaser

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Albatross250, we have some Power of the Primes news that isn't a leak for once, as the Transformers Instagram page has posted a teaser for the upcoming toyline. As for the teaser itself, we have limbs!...no, not combiner limbs, just some regular legs and a wing. Seemingly cropped from packaging art, said wing likely belongs to Swoop, and one of the legs to Grimlock. The owners of the other two legs aren't quite as certain, but according to the Instagram post, all will be revealed on September 8th at Hascon! Take a look at the full Hascon schedule, check out the teaser image below, and let us know what you think in the Energon Pub!

The leg right next to Grimlock is probably the rumored Eltia One's foot or another femmebot's foot and the claw foot I'm not sure about could belong to one of the members of Predaking.

Looks like pink in darker lighting to me.

That's why I said leg and not foot.

Unless Elita-1 has green legs and pink feet now.

Great, another instance of the dress...

I looked up the leaks, and the design is definitely more like Moonracer's than Elita's. The latter's are more blocky.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one
