And think of it this way, if he was a voyager, Hasbro would have made him as tall as Springer anyway so you still wouldnt have been happy.

Sorry, but there's something about the Masterpieces that don't work for me I tried Grimlock, and I almost tried MP10. The Size is right, but the detailing? Finish? Plastic quality? Something is different enough I can tell the difference. It doesnt work for me (and a lot of others, it seems)

Also if some (or hopefully all ) the deluxes have CW functionality, I wonder if they will come with HFG's. I only ask because I know being combiners is not their primary function, or at least if Hasbro would offer HFG's (or Computorn styled hands and feet) for purchase separately on their website...

I'm still using 3rd Party products for Magnus, Rodimus Prime, and Galvatron. I know they've fallen out of style since official products replaced them, but they work well enough for me. At least for one display.

No, I already stated I don't find MP Hot Rod to go at all well with 30th Springer because the styles don't mesh at all. Springer's got a lot more detail and edges and MP Hot Rod is too slick, plain (cartoon accurate) and slightly too large and that Arcee is far too tiny for either one of them.
See I own KO MP Hot Rod, real 30th Springer and upscaled KO Arcee. Springer and Hot Rod together don't work for me. Arcee is oddly somewhere in between in terms of detail and cartoon accuracy so she's in the middle like a buffer of styles.


I also own Titans Return Galvatron and he reeeeally doesn't work with MP Hot Rod in the slightest even in your excellent photographs. Besides, Hot Rod shouldn't be the size of Galvatron. He's meant to be smaller. And Rodimus Prime would be Galvatron's size only now HE'S TOO FRICKIN' BIG!!! argh...

See, your reasons are why I have been using Energon Rodimus Major with the PCC Engine dude since forever.

Seeing the Prime master figures, it appears that Overlord was designed to interact with them as opposed to the Titan masters. Nice easter egg. Well played Hasbro, well played.

So no titans return after slugslinger. Like I've been saying for months now that he's the final figure before moving into power of the primes and everyone kept saying "no no no! We're getting more!" We'll we're not.

Interesting stuff. Quite a mixed bag. I'll throw in my two cents.

"Pretender" Skullgrin - looks neat. Wouldn't mind seeing more of these for the rest of the more monstrous and animalistic pretenders. Nice to know that the "Titan Master" price point will still retrain a similar product with similar functionality, though now executed differently.

Legends Class Beachcomber - Looks great to me! A fine G1 update, for certain. Now I can retire his diminutive "Universe/Henkei" self from my "Classics" shelf.

Deluxe Class Jazz - Looks all right. I have the Takara Transformers United Jazz from several years ago, which is a superior figure, no question. That one will remain my Classics Jazz. If this one does turn out to be a combiner limb, though, I'll pick him up for the play value alone. It would make a nice gift from my nephew too.

Deluxe Class Dreadwind and Darkwing - This is a pleasant surprise. It's a little "meh" that they're retools of the Aerialbots from Combiner Wars, but if that's what it took to get them to combine with one another, I can let it pass. Still not sure about if these guys will replace the my BotCon 2007 Dreadwind and Universe 2008 (TRU exclusive) Darkwing, though. It does help these new guys' cause that Darkwing has his own headsculpt now (e.g., not a repaint of Silverbolt).

Voyager Class Starscream - This thing makes me sad. I don't mind the modernized design cues from IDW at all, but the execution is terrible. The proportions are wonky, especially with the Popeye forearms. The transformation cheats again with faux kibble for the chest. (Seriously, it's not hard to do that Transformation legitimately, as previous versions of Starscream have all shown!) The kibble from the jet body sits up way above the head. The robot mode wings and unpainted and lack meaningful detail (no, the support "struts" for the underside of the wings to cut costs but maintain strength in the plastic don't count as detail, Hasbro!). All I wanted was an upsized Voyager version of the Classics Deluxe Starscream mold with increased articulation. Instead we get this monstrosity. If this does indeed turn out to be a voyager torso, that might make it at least fun to play with, but as a "Classics" version of Starscream, this fails. I'm sticking with the Deluxes from years ago for now, despite the fact that they are a bit small in size to scale properly with the rest of my Classics Decepticon forces.

Leader Class Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime - This looks like great fun! It'll be nice to have a Rodimus Prime proper in the Classics line, though I am not sure yet how he fits into my Classics display. I prefer using a deluxe sized Hot Rod, as Optimus Prime is always the true Matrix bearer in my heart. I hope this means we get an Optimus Prime with trailer in this line too! Oh, and perhaps an Ultra Magnus repaint and retool of that! Should make some G1 purists happy who were a bit bummed out that Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus took more after the IDW inspired character of Minimus Ambus than the white Optimus Prime repaint wearing armor of the G1 toyline.

I get feeling that most Starscream/Seeker fans would prefer Hasbro just upscale the old 2006 Classics Deluxe mold to Voyager scale (with some changes and refinements to make use of larger size and toy tech progression)

You dont understand, I use MP Hot Rod as a classics Rodimus Prime. he looks far more accurate than any Rodimus prime classics toy we would ever get (as has been proven yet again). And those werent my photos but they show how darn well they scale when you use that MP as Rodimus Prime.

I understood that just fine. Except he doesn't fit with the much more detailed mainline figures such as that TR Galvatron. Very different style and Hot Rod or Rodimus comes across as much too plain. That's pretty much the main reason I been wanting Hasbro to do an all new Rodimus revamp for years and they finally done it, only too bloody big for what I needed it for. I never wanted G1 cartoon accuracy (Rodimus' robot mode was just a lazy upscale of Hot Rod despite the vehicles being vastly different). Wanted a total upgrade.

But TR Galvatron is pulled straight from the cartoon so an upgraded Rodimus wouldnt match.

what?? TR Galvatron isn't cartoon like. He's based on the general Galvatron design but tons of extra detail and reshaped parts. An MP Galvatron wouldn't look like TR Galvatron much at all...

So these all suck, save anything that can act as a cw limb...

I'm really excited about dreadwing and darkwind, can't wait to get them, everything else is an easy pass

GAH! I was already probably going to pass on Rodimus Prime but with that backpack...the nail is in the coffin.

Yeah I'm almost relieved now. Shame cos the general design looks great but appears the Rodimus Prime form has been compromised by making it a Hot Rod with powered armour gimmick. Kinda like original G1 toys of Ultra Magnus or Powermaster Optimus Prime than a true Rodimus Prime.
