Not to go too off topic, my favorite Optimus Primal is one that is usually hated. The deluxe Beast Machine version. He's brilliant and that ape head is TERRIFYING.



However, all that clear plastic "dried up" over the years and is now pretty brittle. So I now fear to transform him. Especially after a hand just spontaneously shatterred. Luckily I had a replacement in my pile-o-scrap but still.

Clear plastic is pretty terrible in general safe for those pieces which can generally support it decently.

To be fair, Deluxe BM Primal felt like he would crumble into little pieces from day one. Making structural parts out of clear plastic wasn't their smartest engineering decision.

That Optimus Primal looks pretty good overall.

Also, I snagged Hun-Gurrr, Rippersnapper, and Alchemist Prime recently. All of them are good, but Rippersnapper is the clear winner. Not as big of a fan of Hun-Gurrr as I thought I would be, but since he's just there to be a torso in my collection, no big deal.

Alchemist Prime is fun, but frankly I feel like the Titan Masters were way more fun than these Prime Masters are.

I was originally planning on picking up Optimal, but the only thing I really wanted was the first version of Primal. Since this one turns into a hoverboard (which is pretty cool too!), I went and impulse-bought a used MP32 instead.

I'm still huntin' for SG Roddy, though.

I'm still not sure if I'll be getting Predaking, but I may need all dem Prime Masters! I still haven't seen Submarauder and Landmine, but my stores are regularly getting in the Legends figures....I figure the Voyagers go pretty quickly, and have only seen wave 1 Leaders....no subsequent restock on wave2 at any Walmarts in the last two weeks.

Looks blue-tinted at the very least in those pics you posted, Sabr. The glowing blue spark chamber behind the cockpit in robot mode makes it look even more saturated with blue. Still looks right to my eye the way Hasbro and Takara did this Power of the Primes version, especially since it also houses the Matrix of Leadership with its iconic core glowing with blue light. They could have probably made the cockpit clear, which would still make that area decided blue because of the Matrix, but that wouldn't have helped the people who want the whole chest to look "orange" in robot mode.

The only reason the window has an ever so slight blue tint to it is the reflection of the spark inside it. If you look towards the back of the canopy there is no blue tint, the glass is made ever so slightly opaque to keep it from looking invisible in CG.

Maybe Hasbro was trying to imitate that light effect with the blue Matrix inside, but it's very blue and I really would have preferred they left it clear since they already went with toy accurate red eyes.

Man, That Optimal Optimus is just gorgeous. I'm sorely tempted but not-so-secretly hoping for a Primal Prime repaint.

I would be lying if I said that the decision to pass on PoTP Optimal Optimus was easy. It looks awesome, and I love the mini-Primal. But I've got the original Optimal Optimus, and while this toy is good, I kinda feel like I don't need it. So long as it doesn't shelf warm, then I'll be good!

found Hun-Gurrr at walmart yesterday! Take THAT HTS! . It must have been a fresh case because there were 2 Hun-Gurrr's and 2 Elita-1s (Both had black feet instead of pink)

Also this particular walmart had wave 1 PM's on clearance for $3.00

I think this is a pretty good compromise and a lot more understandable than some other weird plastic color and paint detail changes that Hasbro has made in the past just for "funsies."

I strongly disagree. Gray goes with almost any other combination of colors, especially with black and white in the mix with some stray red and blue. Making the front of the transport mode orange would be very unpleasant to most peoples' eyes. If you want to mitigate the upper chest of the Optimal Optimus robot mode being gray instead of orange, you can just leave the "clavicle guns" deployed, which will hide most of that fact. I hope those neat flamethrower plastic pieces do come with the final figure.

I'm normally a stickler for color accuracy, whether that be original toy or screen appearance, but this is definitely a design decision/compromise that is perfectly logical to me, so it gets an easy pass. Something else, though, like not painting Power of the Primes Optimus Prime's fists blue or mistaching the reds on PotP Rodimus Prime is just a poor design oversight and irks me a lot more than this.

Friendly reminder that that Optimus Primal is NOT supposed to be a Masterpiece. So, it's completely useless to waste so many posts and so many words debating some irrelevant spot that is the "wrong color".

I remembered it showing a lot more gray when he had his guns fully "extended" on the show, but I guess that's not the case. Still, I think having the guns out on the new toy helps the rest of the gray seem even less "out of place," as it now looks like a fully deployed weapon emplacement than just two "peek-a-boo" gun muzzles.
