"...the eye of the beholder..."

you say it looks silly, I and others say it looks good. I cant say its *superior* to other combiners, but I liked it for what it was, just answering your original question. Remember I'm in the camp that I'd prefer the standard Voyager/4 Deluxe limbs of a modern Predaking myself, for crossover capability with others...

But since Hasbro IS going Titan-Class/ 5 Voyagers, the above is what I expect, and I'm ok with that.

Discussion is fine and all but I dont see how its so hard to get how Predaking could work with all elements looking relatively the same size in beast modes. We know for a fact that it works thanks to all the 3p stuff out there. Due to the OS KO, I already have a titan class predaking that looks great, has decent proportions and whos beast and robot modes all look fine. Razorclaw doesnt have to be that huge. See, unlike the Fall of Cybertron combiners, Predaking worked with the beefy limbs like that, and I would have no issue with them basically redoing him in those proportions. That right there is a great G1 combiner that I wish I owned, and I cannot wait for the potential Titan version of him.

On another note, since it was brought up, I really hope they don't do Inferno as a Hot Spot retool. If they do Inferno, he needs to be able to be retooled into Grapple (I need both), and I have enough of that mold.

Also, Starscream looks great, but I want him to be repainted into his brothers for the seeker trio I have wanted, and I cannot figure out how he would combine. I can't really see how he would form a good torso

Wow , so now there are actually KO of 3P stuff? :HEADHURTS: . Forgive me for being way behind the curve, but without everything all consolidated into one place its hard to keep track. I know this is probably not the best place to ask, but is there a nice, easy to follow, but all encompassing site that lists all 3P productions? I would like to see what all is out there, especially for combiners.

back OT thought...I am a little excited more for Hascon now, since hopefully we will actually get to see some actual POTP prototypes of what was leaked on July 24, not just animation models.

How do you like that figure? In terms of play quality, is it fragile, on par with CHUG figures, etc? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to derail the thread further. I ask because I am considering getting oversized variants of the Dinobots when they come out (as well as the official ones too, don't fret :HASBRO: lol), but my experience with KOs has been lackluster at best.

Also, the Feral Rex engineering seems close to how I would envision Hasbro will make it work. The leg bots appear to take up a good chunk of the the upper leg instead of just the lower leg. But, we shall see at Hascon at the earliest (though most likely later) what they have envisioned for Predaking.

Inferno from Hot Spot is confirmed rather than speculated thanks to those Wave leaks, I'm afraid. We didn't get a close look at any of his deco other than him being very, very red.

I kind of wish they'd made it Pyrospark instead of Inferno. IMHO he's a better fit with that mold and more "era appropriate" to a line with Pretenders and late G1 characters.

Not convinced. Those wave leaks had tons of stand-ins, and Inferno was a potential use for that mold and was one that was digi-bashed lots of times. It could be a stand in as well. Nothing on there was comfirmed to be the actual toy in any capacity

I wouldn't be so sure. After all, from the leaks it seems the only possible known Deluxe he could be paired up with would be Jazz -- so seemingly he forms the core of another 84/85 Autobot combiner.

I suppose I'd viewed Jazz, Grimlock, and Starscream's presence in this line more as Pretender Classics homages than as 84/85 tributes.

I suppose I could see that, yeah.

But then we've also got the rest of the Dinobots, the Search for Alpha Trion female Autobots, Beachcomber, Windcharger, Optimus, Rodimus... there's plenty of early-year stuff. And no matter how obscure a line reaches, a line will always have that early-year stuff so that it's attractive to more casual fans who wouldn't know what a Cindersaur or a Waverider is, but sure did love seeing Starscream try to usurp leadership from Megatron for the 6792nd time in Season 2. Or had their Omega Supreme toy throw a Springer at Dirge.

2006 Classics Grimlock was kind of already a homage to Pretender Grimlock's inner robot anyway.

Don't forget, Inferno from Hot Spot was practically confirmed by Club fiction, specifically the story that mentions Project: Firestormer, a combiner made from Inferno, Bluestreak, Hoist (using the alternate head for Trailbreaker shown before), Ratchet and Sideswipe. So that was pretty much a matter of "when", not "if".

I don't necessarily think Hasbro cares about that. They've left behind a ton of unused heads and parts in the past, surely. I doubt they feel the need to find a use for all the unused CW ones; they're just plonking Inferno in there because it works and it's not a lot of effort.

Doesn't really matter what Hasbro thinks, the story merely "confirmed" the existence of that particular tooling, nothing more. It was only a matter of time for it to see release in some shape or form, really. The only problem is, will it use the Defensor head (like other head-swaps of torsos use a single combiner head), or a newly tooled combiner head?

When RID is dead they might finally have a reason to slip Steeljaw and CW Sideswipe in a boxed set somewhere - as RID was their only excuse for giving us Stripes instead of Steejaw and no CW Sideswipe.

Heck they likely should have made a CW Sunstreaker too even if it was a Toy only character.

They might consider any POTP cars they do other than Jazz that are suitable as a future - 2nd go at Wildrider or Dead Emd too especially if they can use the actual Name "Wildrider" and not a stand in name. It would be nice to not have to have a Duplicate limb there.

As for a speculatable Autobot combiner short of another go at Ratchet (which I'm fine with) I'd suggest Medix or Fix it (Not that one - the Micromaster one) would be a nice alternative too.

Likewise so as to not devalue Bluesteak make such a Limb Silverstreak instead.

It's hard to ignore Jazz being right there and think they don't go together as a new team.

We dont know that for a fact, its far more likely we got stripes because a tiger looked more like a jaguar than a lion did.

And if they were that worried of a Steeljaw that different from the RiD character causing confusion to kids, they could've just given him a different name -- much like how the Grimlock Titan Master was called Clobber. Just call him Steelslash or Gnashjaw or something.

Sideswipe could go the same route. Or, considering that as an Autobot sleek red car daredevil character; he wouldn't be that different from the RiD character to cause confusion, and hence kids would actually be encouraged to buy him because hey, he's probably that character from that show I like.

Agreed, just because a character is current in one line, doesn't exclude it form being part of another. I fully expect a deluxe Sideswipe by the end of POTP as he is the only 1984 Autobot car without a release, or planned release in the current generations 3-story arc. It would be sad not to get him.
Bucket/Want List: Botcon 2016 Customization Class Ratchet (G2 Deco), or Customization Class Ratchet (Marvel Comics Deco) **would also be willing to pay for an Unpainted Botcon 2016 Ratchet, TT Legends Fortress Head (only) with working Electronics

Wish List of Modern Combiners: Road Caesar, Monstructor & Dinoking (proper size to fiction), Landcross, Guard City, Battle Gaia, & G2 Defensor. Wish List of Titans:Metrotitan,Majin Zarak

I'd really like to see all 11 1984 Autobot Cars be done as mainline Hasbro Combiner Limbs for a complete collection. We've got 8/11 with this Jazz; just Ratchet, Sideswipe and Bluestreak to go!
