RAR wrote:I was in Sainsbury's yesterday and spotted something very strange - they had a case they'd just put out of RID Combiner Force Warriors - but I noticed something odd - the new Characters (including white Drift) have new item code numbers on the barcode - while the re-packs like Grimlock & Strongarm - even though they are in the exact same packaging do not - they have the old code.

So there is two distinct Barcode numbers for items in the same case - I found that very weird for a European released item.

Not as weird as you may think. Despite being advertised as "new product" with a new subline header, the re-releases are still the same product as before and identified as such via barcode, simply for ease of logistics: no double items. Even Hasbro does that by retaining product ID's for re-releases in different sublines, as long as the basic assortment remains the same. Compare the codes above/below the bar code between first release Legion Optimus Prime, and the Combiner Force one. They should match.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

As a representative of Bumblebee in general?

POSSIBLY!!

I really like him. He's fun to toss around, satisfying to transform, my only problem is his head has popped off a few times and it looks like the plastic around the back of his neck is stressed :-(

I have both, and it's a toss up. Classics Bee is much more solid to me and less kibbly, but RiD Bee looks so much better, being more streamlined and the aesthetic is one I like more than the classics. Plus RiD Bee has the better car mode IMO

I can see you both have the similar internal struggle as me. I am working on the top 5 list for Bee. Its not hard, except for when it comes to those 2. They have the same pro/con balance even though they are such different toys. And I feel like saying one is better than the other really doesnt do jutice to the other. I guess I will keep both tied for 4th place.

Ah the roof calf. I forgot about that, as the figure is just so awesome. Let's put it this way, I have Hasbro MP21, Takara MP21G, and RiD warrior Bumblebee out to have fun with. The others are in the bin, awaiting their fates!!

EDIT: And AoE deluxe Bumblebee, and the legend class he came with..and G2 Bumblebee..ok THAT'S all of them out for play.

Well problem solved, here is what will be frontpaged some day down the line:

4. TIE between Classics Bumblebee and Robots in Disguise Bumblebee

While these are very different toys, they end up having the ame amount of Pros and Cons each meaning that making any of them surpass the other a disservice the other. In the end, both are as good, here is a breakdown from two of our own members:

D-Max: I have both, and it's a toss up. Classics Bee is much more solid to me and less kibbly, but RiD Bee looks so much better, being more streamlined and the aesthetic is one I like more than the Classics. Plus RiD Bee has the better car mode IMO. But there's the kibble. The back is alright, though I wish the wings were a bit more prominent compared to the trunk lid, and then the whole roof being on the back of the legs can be a bit of a pain sometimes, at least to me

Itscramtastic: I really like RiD Bumblebee. He's fun to toss around, satisfying to transform, my only problem is his head has popped off a few times and it looks like the plastic around the back of his neck is stressed. I feel they have the same kibble problem or RiD has it LESS. Sure, there is the roof calf but I forgot about that, as the figure is just so awesome. I was also SUPER late to RiD, and I've already sold ONE version of Classics Bumblebee (the RTS version, which was the only one I had). I wouldn't sell RiD Bumblebee though. He's special.

Takara agrees with you, they are very proud of that toy.

Notice how there is technically no reason in the design for him to have to turn his waste during transformation. The same look could be achieved if he was face down like Sideswide, Strongarm and the others, and like his "cyberverse" version. But Takara wanted his back to face the floor instead while inc ar mode just so that you would have to twist the waste as part of the transformation, making it more dynamic. That means they were not just thinking of how to get from one mode to the next elegantly, but also about how our hands move while transforming it and what motions are more fun than others. So making his transformation both steamlined and dynamic. Its really cool.

OK... either Hasbro goofed with something, or something is really off.

Remember how the two Warrior Starscream releases, Clash and Combiner Force are completely identical? I just got back from window shopping at Toys 'R Us, and checked the codes on the boxes of both:

Clash: B7958/B7935Asst.
Combiner Force: C0929/B0070Asst.

Two codes for the same toy? I guess it's all because of the different assortment code, but should there at least be some difference? I should have gotten the Combiner one and checked the code stamped on it... Or maybe I'm overthinking this.

Yes I raised this issue before. the same is true in the UK too.
Two Starscreams two different packaging designs and two prices but the exact same toy. where as the New packaging on the Warriors is just a cosmetic change (like it also was with the previous Minicon Weaponiser packets) - the difference there though was that the new items didn't have a new bar code and yet they do have a new bar code this time.

I just think it would make more sense to change them all or non and not part of a case.

Perhaps I need to double check the barcode both the new and reissued/repacked 1 step changers too now. I never thought to check the numbers on the repacked ones I already had - the new characters are different number to last year's though.

RAR, I think we're looking at two different things. You're looking at bar code number, while I look at the Hasbro product codes directly above or below them. Both serve the same purpose for identifying product, but the former is more for store logistics, and the latter for Hasbro. I did notice that "Transformers" bar code numbers, at least in the US, always start with "30509" regardless of line: even Combiner Force Starscream and Legion Springload started with that number. :)

The Warrior RiD Bumblebee mold is fantastic. 9 versions is not enough.

I put the weapons from the Weaponizer Dragonus (Thanks WilliamJames88!) on the Shining Dragonus and it turned out really neato:

Actually, he's a separate character called Dragonblaster. Works out as Dragonus is nominally a Decepticon. And it's uncanny how the yellow from two different releases work together so well. :x

We have Character cases sent out to some retailers they have stickers applied at the factory ontop of the normal barcode so they ring up by characters - typically this applies to online retailers who sell by character like the entertainer - sometime they put their own sticker on the outside instead that is nothing to do with Hasbro codes.

I've never checked if there is any relationship between the single character numbers on UK stock and the US numbers .. i'll have the check that out.

----

Anyway all of the NEW Warrior class (new mould and new packaging) share a number.

All the old Warrior class (New packaging old product) share he same number.

So all 3 packaging variations of Grimlock have the same number.

But that same number is also the same number on Strongarm as well (or Optimus. Drift, Windblade whatever) basically just those repacks got the old generic deluxe barcode that applies to a lot of previous toys and just the new moulds (& white drift) get a new number.

So you pick up two warrior class combiner Force cards if it's Strongarm and Grimlock they have one number. if it's any of the other it's another number.

The assortment only barcodes are typical for most retailers (but not all) - the American way of having a unique number for each character is becoming a little more common.

But in some case they don't even have a proper way of identifying them like with the Minicon multi-packs.

I don't know about the item codes - if they changed them - as i've not actually checked if they did that one the last Grimlock release either (since Green coloured Warrior Grimlock is now out in 3 different kinds of packaging style now) I'd not be surprised if it's the same or different. Though VERY have put to listings up for the same toy depending on the packaging.

I'll be interested to see what TRU do when they get that stock as they must be scratching their head a bit about why they now have two identical Starscream's with different stock identities - and that applies as much in the US too.

I didn't think to look at Starscream's barcode so I didn't notice which code they gave him the normal Warrior code or the new code like White drift.

Postby william-james88 » Wed Feb 08, 2017 8:32 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
While the fandom is desperately searching for Titans Return preorders, the Robots in Disguise line has some to offer. Entertainment Earth just listed a preorder for the 11th wave of figures. This is the second wave from 2017 and it will include the hotly aniticpated figures like Soundwave and Blurr. Sicne the preorder is for the whole case, we can know who is included in this wave and who is shotpacked:

1x TRA RID WARRIOR GRIMLOCK
1x TRA RID WARRIOR SKYWARP
2x TRA RID WARRIOR WINDBLADE
2x TRA RID WARRIOR SOUNDWAVE
2x TRA RID WARRIOR BLURR

As you can see, the new molds are not shortpacked. And neither is Windblade who is a redeco with a new face mask.

These are to be released in March.
