In other actual Studio Series news, while Skipjack will undoubted be a mass retail release in Hasbro's markets, he'll instead be a TakaraTomy Mall exclusive in Japan:

I've heard rumours that SS is becoming the "Generations for everything that wouldn't otherwise fit in Generations" line rather than exclusively movie figures. I don't think the line is going to be completely CONSOOMED by G1, thank goodness. I'm cautiously optimistic.

When even Studio Series has more G1 Optimus, Megatron, Bumblebee and Seekers alongside Generation's yearly release of those I will cackle and go 'I told you so'. The current plans of the suits and the design team have completely and utterly killed creativity or anything interesting in the design team. The engineering will only get worse just like how Masterpiece is getting worse.

Calling movieverse fans spoiled children when the G1-ers are complaining that their third generations astrotrain figure doesn't look exactly like a poorly drawn 35 year old cartoon seems a bit nescient.
Put more politely, Bay Movie toy fans are in for a cold dose of reality when years start to go by with little-to-no product. If the reactions to Studio Series having non-Movie things introduced - based on a rumor - are any indication, then generally speaking in broad strokes this segment of fans seems to not be ready for that.

It’s the first movie I think it’s a brilliant move honestly. I don’t think SS is fragile enough to be usurped by the 86 movie. And interesting to note the calm tone when people say G1 versus the vitriol of spelling out GEEWUN I lived through TrUk not MuNkY BS and I loved Beast Wars while still loving G1 and G2. Sad to see this bitterness still so rife in my favorite hobby, everyone’s kind of quick on the draw to paint fans as certain categories of fans. I get it, but it’s lame. Every time I see GEEWUN I immediately tune you out because it labels your argument as angry venting for me at least it undermines any message you’re striving to make and excludes a big part of the fandom.
G1. It’s just more civil written that way.
On a personal note SS is the redemption of a series of movies that pretty much everyone agrees is a disjointed series of dumpster fires a buffet of a hot messes with little to no tangible continuity from one movie to the next. It was like the first five issues of an old Image comic a few big moments strung together with vacuous crap. Almost anyone who was a fan of G1 that lived through those movies coming out was disappointed. So everyone’s got a perspective. At least the SS toys are awesome.

I would argue that the reason there is this type of reaction is because it's not "non-movie things" but rather because it's more G1, which has already consumed the mainline

As you mentionned, we got 2 toys in Studio Series, plus the MPM last year plus the MP whch turns into the G1 gun everyone wanted and the Beast Wars MP everyone else wanted. So I think we're pretty good on the Megatron front, be it tank or gun or movie or purple dinosaur. I don'think think we need to see him again (even though we will).
LE0KING wrote:I'll do you one better, when was the last time we got an entirely new cast of characters?
I know Sabrblade brought up rescue Bots Academy, but even those guys are previously created characters repurposed for the most part, like Hoist and Hot Shot. Hence why I nominate the original Rescue Bots as my answer to that, those were all new characters. And they were for a new audience/generation, just as beast Wars was. Many kids are now growing up with Chase and Boulder as their favourite Transformers characters (such as my son) and I think that's awesome.

lol, the movie verse already went all g1 by doing the most g1 thing we've ever seen on the big screen (the director admitted that personally), even recreating the exact same shot from the G1 movie when Optimus comes to the rescue. And then all fans wanted to see all these g1 characters in the studio series line. So basically, it's all blurred lines at this point.

				D-Max,thanks for your words
There is not enough info to freak out,but going with what we know this doesn't feel much exciting.
If this means we will get an "Studio Series" based on the other series, then starting with G1 again was not the way to do it .
To avoid skepticism,HasTak should do an leap of faith and something with Beast Wars,Beast Machines or the Unicron Trilogy for example...
And there still enough movie characters without a Studio Series toy to keep the toyline going for at least for year or two.
This. It's not about being only a movie fan,it's about being an TRANSFORMERS fan,and recognizing the many versions of the franchise. All that came after G1 is just as important and should be not cast aside.
You say want people to be more civil, then proceed to slander the movies right after.

I still think this is a whole lot ado about nothing. It's waaaaaaaay more likely this is just SS Grimlock and that tiny Wheelie in a new colorscheme.
If the Studio Series really was branching out to the animated movie wouldn't the new Arcee and Quintesson be a part of it instead of Earthrise?

Ya know what. I had a thought that might justify the idea of having 1986 movie characters in Studio Series. The mainline actually celebrates Beast Wars' 25th anniversary by giving all the characters proper updates. Voyager Rhinox, Primal, Dinobot, and Tigatron, Leader Megatron, Optimal, and Primal Prime, Deluxes for all the rest, and new versions of Magnaboss and Tripredacus as the Titan Class set. Commander Class Optimus Prime for scale reasons and also because at this point we sorta have to have an Optimus for every line.
Because let's be honest, the only reason to try and include The Transformers: The Movie figures in this line when there's already the third part of WFC that could be used to celebrate it is because there's going to be a shift in focus.
Or I'm just desperate for more Beast Wars and worried that it's 25th anniversary won't be celebrated because they'd rather celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the movie by pushing Beast Wars to the side and only tossing out a new Cheetor and maybe reissuing POTP Optimal and calling it a day

Just an FYI, looks like someone on TFW found a few more Studio series listing for TF2 jolt, TF2 BB with Sam, TF2 Sideswipe, Grindor with ravage, and 86 gnaw. So it is looking like there will be 86 movie figures coming out towrads the end of the year with SS. This is really a huge let down (seeing more 86 figs, the bayverse ones are great though), since I think they should finish off the 5 bayverse movies then they can do all the G1 they want. I just want version of MY childhood transformers.

With the new Walmart listings, it confirms 86 guys (at least Gnaw) are showing up in SS. It's kinda sucky that now even SS is turning into yet more G1, but from those same listings I have some hope.
First off, we have some great Bayverse stuff from those same listings (ROTF Bee w/ Sam, Grindor w/ Ravage, Jolt, and ROTF Sideswipe? Hello!) - which shows that we're still getting bayverse stuff. SS seems to have sold extremely well so far, so I don't think that's a problem.
If 86 stuff is in the same waves as standard SS stuff, there is at least a bright side that I'll get to save my money skipping the 86 guys and put it towards more spread out movie SS releases - For example, I'm probably not going to be able to get Scavenger and Overload this year unless they go on sale. If they're more spread apart, I'll be able to pick up more of them.
The problem is if we get the 86 movie stuff but not missing movie figures like Dino, Que, and Hatchet. We can't really call that at this point though.
TLDR: We're still getting Bayverse stuff, so I'm happy.

That's the way I look at it. Until there's verified info that G1 is co-opting/actually taking over Movie Studio Series and not just an expansion of it/running alongside of it, I see no reason to be upset.EvasionModeBumblebee wrote:TLDR: We're still getting Bayverse stuff, so I'm happy.

The thing is, it's already been "running alongside of it". Both Studio Series and the WFC Trilogy are Generations lines, one being for the movies and one already being for G1. That there is going to be even more G1 stuff added into the non-G1 live action movie Generations line on top of the already existent other G1 Generations line is what's troubling people.ScottyP wrote:Until there's verified info that G1 is co-opting/actually taking over Movie Studio Series and not just an expansion of it/running alongside of it, I see no reason to be upset.

Considering what I think of IDW, I wouldn't count that as a 'win' but I know me disliking them is an unpopular opinion.

There is no way they would have done a g1 grimlock in the ss line or they would have had a lot more g1 characters earlier. Either that or there doing a special one for the 86 release

Yeah, I think Grindor and Ravage are the most interesting listing. ROTF Bee w/Sam is an insta-buy, and I'll likely pick up Jolt. I really want a Ravage in SS Scale and Blackout/Grindor is one of my favorite designs, but I do have Blackout and leaders are expensive. If they actually remold the vehicle mode to the CH-53 and give him new hands though, I think that'd have to be one I get.

As a guy who used to get every version of G1 Grimlock I have to admit I'm a bit G1 Grimlocked out. The MP version is probably the best version if you want that. I may get this, but it's sort of a toss up. Gnaw, on the other had, is always welcome.
