I can't speak for anyone else, but from me there's no rage for a few reasons:
1) I'm not that vested in the movie figures, because I'm not that vested in the characters they're based on or the movies themselves. So even though I have a box full of loose figures from the lines of the first 3 films, I still bought a bunch of SS stuff. Too many, in fact. I have Primes and Megatrons from the Wahlberg films, but that's about it. However, I have lost much of the zeal for them, and 90% of them will be going on the market here soon. (So if any of you want any movie figures that are reasonably priced, PM me or look for my BST thread.

)
2) Engineering and design have improved quite a bit since 2007. Hell, there was even a big difference between the toys of the 1st movie and DoTM. So even though they're figures of the same characters, the SS versions are much improved upon. And we all know the Transformers fan's never-ending pursuit of the perfect figure/line. It allowed us all to get suckered into Masterpiece.
3) Hasbro's need/obsession of streamlining. In other lines and fiction, they call it Aligning. With SS every figure from all movies are to scale with each other in robot mode, designed to on-screen accuracy. So every figure, no matter which character it represents, has a definite spot in the Bayverse collection. Whereas Generations represents a hodgepodge of characters and continuities, SS is like 1 huge puzzle, with all the figures involved being a specific piece. And all the pieces have to be just right, otherwise the puzzle doesn't work. Once SS is said and done, those who got
every single figure will be able to set up a giant table and put all the figures on it in a huge display and they will have the perfect Bayverse 3D puzzle.
I'm sure there are other reasons, for me those come to mind. At this time I'm debating whether to keep collecting SS or give up, because having every figure will be a very costly project. And honestly, I'm not a big fan of the movies. I enjoy watching them about once a year and that's it.
