That is annoying.
But ever since, what, ‘06-‘07, a lot of people have been waiting for G1 Dinobots to get their fair share of upgrades.
Classics Grimlock was very mehhh.
I know some are okay with the PotP versions.
But arguably, those aren’t great... Not opening the “can of scale”,
However these characters should be big, relatively bulky, & considering how many times we’ve seen versions of ‘bots like the Datsuns, Hound, Inferno, etc.,
It’s just as frustrating for some of us that it’s 2021 & we’re just NOW getting a great Grimlock figure.
Other than Slag, 3 of them aren’t even confirmed yet!
Fingers crossed that with Kingdom BW releases, Hastak is encouraged & ready to pull the trigger on all 5 Dinobots.
It’s well past time.
And then maybe movie Dinobots will follow.

So what do you think? Are you picking up the first Dino figure to have his own unique mold? Going to leave this one on the shelf when you see it? Dino is scheduled to be released by most retailers this summer, but seeing as how we're getting this review now, it may by released earlier than that.
Let us know what you think below!

He was called Mirage in the DOTM video game. In the bonus features for DOTM they talk about how Dino was originally called Mirage and had the ability to turn invisible, but over time he lost a lot of the features that would have made him like Mirage, so the name was changed. Wheeljack/Que had the same situation.

Not gonna lie; I feel like I'm stepping on live-action movie fans' toes when I post about SS86 figures in here. Does G1 have to get into everything? Buzzworthy Bee and other moves have proven that product doesn't mean much to Hasbro, so why not just throw a temp 1986 the Movie tag on these figures and move on. They could have stayed in WfC even as a subline.

Going off my memory as well, I believe there's also:TF-fan kev777 wrote:RodimusConvoy13 wrote:What are all the rumored figures for Studio Series 86?
Just going my memory, someone on some of the other sites where the leakers leak can probably give a better update.
Leader Slag w/ Daniel
Voyager (I think) Wreck-Gar
Deluxe Gnaw
There was also something about a sweeps retool/redeco of Scourge, but I don't recall if that would have been for SS86 or possibly Selects.
When it is blatantly obvious that SS86 only exists because they added beasts to WFC (behind very popular demand) and they still needed a G1 fix, it's different.sol magnus wrote:I don't.aronjlove wrote:D-Maximal_Primal wrote:or, ya know, just do the G1 Dinobots outside of SS and do them all together like that, and do the movie Dinobots in SS like it was intended.

It's not my fault the company decided to do what they did. Hasbro says it's Studio Series for their product, then it is. Would it have been cool if they just did a The Transformers: The Movie line on it's own? Sure. But it's entitlement to think some toys from an actual movie is moving in on your turf because it's not the Bay movies. The case boxes all say "Generations."

When there is an entire WFC line, a selects line, a netflix line, and now retro style packaging headmaster reissues line, it's different.
since T30, generations has not even been remotely plural. the ONLY reason that term is now being used proper again is because they finally brought back beasts but still needed to itch the G1 spot that has been scratched nearly bare.
Ways to solve it: do like the netflix line, release 2 waves of figures as walmart exclusives or something and boom! Subline sold, new molds out, all are happy. You cannot tell me they could not have pushed the walmart headmasters back a year and instead done SS86 as that subline.
Outside of SS, 2014-2020 were almost straight G1 in generations, between Prime Wars and now WFC. Just because you introduce the beasts doesn't mean to need to keep doing the same amount of G1 and take up more space.
Live action literally only needed probably 1 more year to finish the main cast together in scale and complete. But instead, 3 are all we will probably get this year. Especially since SS is the only line you get them in, I haven't seen selects movie toys or even ever a rumored selects SS figure.

Hasbro says they are far from done with Studio Series, so maybe they just want you to have to buy stuff a bit further in the future.
Every time they "leave something out of WFC" I get the same impression. They are going to still want me (us) buying into 2022.
At the time of production, Hasbro created the character to be named Mirage, and had him referred to that name in every piece of DOTM media contemporary to the movie except for the movie itself (e.g. - the comics, novels, video game, books, two toys, etc.). However, his name had to be changed for the movie because, at the time of the film's release, Mattel held exclusive toy rights to the Ferrari car and so Ferrari the company did not want their product placement bearing a Hasbro toy Trademark name in the film, so it was changed to "Dino" instead.william-james88 wrote:EvasionModeBumblebee wrote:william-james88 wrote:Just wondering this again but why do we keep going with Dino being movie verse mirage? Oh I see. yeah, the invisibility feature would have helped.
But since none of that came to pass, I am with D-Max on this one. This aint mirage, it's a fully new character called Dino.

It wasn't plurat before T30 either. 2010-2013 was nothing but G1 and "practically-G1" Aligned. 2014's T30 was always an exception rather than the norm because it was an anniversary year. Same with Universe in 2009. 2008 was again nothing but G1 updates while 2009 brought in updates from other series because it too was an anniversary year.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:since T30, generations has not even been remotely plural.

However, one of the props from very next movie, Age of Extinction, a playing card with Dino's picture that was in Attinger's possession (jump to page 97), is labeled with the name "Mirage" instead. With this in mind, one could say that "Mirage" is his original Cybertronian name and that he simply adopted the new nickname of "Dino" after scanning his Ferrari altmode.
