He's a bit fiddly, but that old Soundwave is pretty nice.
I also recently got that 200$ 3P "MPM Soundwave" who is incredible.

I really love those two figures a lot but it make me appreciate the SS car Soundwave even more. He's really a true "mini MP".

Wait..... NO GALLERY?

Oh, so that's why I haven't seen anything in the SS section.

Well, only around one hundred figures to go through...

I can imagine trying maintain the SS photo galleries if Seibertron started right away would have been a nightmare early on because the wave assortments had bots from different films mixed and matched. The amount of re-work for the earliest figures every time a new bot from a particular movie came out would basically require re-working the group shots every wave. Now actually seems to be the right time to hit the bayverse movies since the current brand team seems to hate them.

I was totally dismissive about Satellite Soundwave. Then for completion sake I bought it. In the end, the figure is much better than anticipated.

IMG_20210823_201505.jpg

Still, that satellite was lacking some... pizzaz.
Some upgrade kits later (that were more expensive total than the toy itself, of course) and now he's perfect!

IMG_20210823_203014.jpg

Now all I need is a tiny satellite for Soundwave to inapropriately assault.

Very nice! I also ended up liking Satellite Soundwave, satellite mode is a little lacking but I do think it's an improvement over the original deluxe.

I too have Soundwave satellite mode.....

But it was given to me by Hasbro as a replacement for a defective toy. So I am keeping it in the box and will exchange it for another studio series deluxe when one I want comes out (maybe Jolt).

I bought the original deluxe recently and it's a floppy mess. The Legion is much better.

As for SS Satellite Soundwave, it's one of the rare cases that I kept and used the included backdrop instead of dumping it in the recycling bin. Satellite mode is indeed lacking but if one is willing to pay the price, it's fantastic with the upgrade kits.

Satellite Soundwave is still pretty neat. I like him in satellite mode personally, with the DotM one in robot mode.

PSA: If you get Grindor, be sure to gently rotate the thigh swivels the first time you do so. They’re a little stuck in place at first, but if you gently rotate them once through you’re all good. I used a little bit of force when I rotated the first one and it popped the mushroom peg out. That’s not a big issue at all, but I recall someone reported shearing the leg off by applying too much force on that joint right out of the box. Like I said, if you gently rotate the joint through once, there shouldn’t be any issues.
Look who showed up today!

Grindor hands.jpg

Those new hands work wonders on the Blackout mold, it makes Grindor much more expressive and poseable than his predecessor. Joints are a little looser than Blackout, but it's not enough to be disruptive. The arm panels actually plug in much better than they do on Blackout, which is appreciated.

The transformation brings me to the only big problem I have with Grindor - the sections between the cockpit and rotor (between the engines) absolutely will not stay tabbed together. I actually have them taped in the picture below, I'm going to see if there's any plastic I can remove or ways I can get them to actually stay tabbed in. Like I said though, that's really the only issue I have. While alt mode isn't remolded for the CH-53, I am kinda impressed that they added paint details from actual CH-53s, like the numbering and rounded section under the front windshield.
Grindor alt.jpg

Ravage is pretty great, the ball joints his limbs are on have a surprising range of motion.
Ravage attacks Bee.jpg

Overall, I do think Grindor is an improvement from Blackout, mainly because of the new hands. They really make the figure a lot more fun to pose!

I'm not sure if this has been asked or not but is it possible to swap Grindor and Blackouts hands around? I much prefer Blackout as a character so would prefer him to be the expressive one if I can.

I don't think you can exchange only the hands, they're pinned into place so you'd have to remove pins at the elbow and wrist on both Blackout and Grindor to remove them.

You could swap the forearms though, since the bicep swivel is a mushroom peg. The shades of gray between them are different, though, and you'd end up with Grindor's 53 numbering (on the sides) on Blackout.

Grindor is not perfect, notably with the poseability of his arms, but otherwise that's a solid mold. I was able to transform him without instructions nor video rather quickly. Everything hold in place perfectly.

Postby TF-fan kev777 » Sat Aug 28, 2021 6:37 am

Okay, so I found some weirdness on the entertainment earth wave case 15 listing for studio series. First there is a number mismatch between tfwiki and EE, EE has the SS86 Gnaw/SS Jolt and Bee wave as wave 14, which tfwiki has as wave 13, so the 2 sites are off each other by 1. The wiki has Perceptor as in a future wave, while EE calls it wave 15.

In any case, that should be the wave with High Octane Bee, from AoE, movie 4, right? Well look at their placeholders.

This Transformers Studio Series Premier Deluxe Case contains 8 individually packaged figures:
2x TBD MOVIE 2
2x TRA GEN STUDIO SERIES DLX 86 PERCEPTOR
2x TBD MOVIE 3
2x TBD MOVIE 1

I suspect this might mean High Octane Bee may be pushed back and the Perceptor wave may see re-releases from the first 3 movies. That would make sense from a timing standpoint. SS74 bee is coming out about 4-5 months after the Buzzworthy Bee release of the same figure. High Octane Bee is out now for the Buzzworthy release, so the wave after Perceptor makes sense on that timeline.

Or, the placeholders are just flat out wrong. I have zero hope that there would be new figures at the deluxe scale for any of the first 3 movies in this wave.

I don't exactly remember, but wasn't heli Dropkick involved? Maybe not a true wave but a revision wave or something and EE just numbered it as a separate wave instead?

Having got the chance to mess around with Grindor, those new posable hands add a lot to his character. He can definitely look more convincing in poses, and he looks great in the maniacal hands up pose. I also forgot just how big the copter mode is with this mold, it's fantastic! This was a great mold from the beginning, can't wait to have the SS shelf set back up eventually.

Today's Transformers Reveal is a Studio Series Figure None of us Could Have Predicted

Postby william-james88 » Tue Aug 31, 2021 3:26 pm

Motto: "'till All Are One"
For all those who wanted Hasbro to reveal some Bayverse Studio Series figures, well Hasbro has done it today, kind of. They revealed on their official Transformers page a N.E.S.T. Bumblebee which is a grey redeco of Jeep Bumblebee from the Bumblebee movie, where N.E.S.T. does not appear. Below are the official images and description. It comes with a toy of Sam. It can be preordered in various online retailers for 22.99, including Hasbro Pulse.
