After a little prompting that this was even said, I thought to myself why don't we?
I've always been an arty farty sort. Drawing from a very early age. Art has always been in my blood. I wasn't very good. But I worked hard at it to refine my own ability. School just added a few qualifications to that. Now in a completely unrelated field of employment (Postman), I'm merely an observing fan looking in. Which brings me to my first two picks here: Don Figueroa and Guido Guidi.
When it comes to Transformers, I never really took to the 'people in cosplay' proportions of a Geoff Senior. The above image of Grimlock ala Don Figueroa, is definitely more to my taste. More mechanical and robotic. Certainly less humanised. Which I've always championed as the ideal for giant alien robots.
Yet even here on the more refined/evolved form of the Cybertronian descendants, the Maximals. His signature style doesn't conflict with that aesthetic. In this case, I only wish he did more.
Guido Guidi, in contrast. Is more traditional/retro, but retains an overtly mechanical visually cumbersome aesthetic. Clearly big and heavy machines.
