No they haven't. They've all ranked in the millions and billions and then some. Even if they weren't good movies, that's not flopping.

Correction....

"Pain and gain" may have ranged somewhere between breaking even and turning a small profit (courtesy of The Rock). The other 2 most recent Non-TF films directed by Bay within the last 12 years (13 Hours and The Island) have both Flopped...DO THE MATH! That track record is not the making of a "genius Director". Even as a producer that last Turtle sequel under-performed.

Again...No issue with Anthony Hopkins, loved is most of his previous work. Bay's crap is where it stops.

What else is playing that weekend...?

13 Hours actually turned a profit, so not sure (Budget $50,000,000 (estimate), Gross Takings US alone - $52,853,219 + Worldwide - $69,411,370). So maybe YOU do the maths.

-edit-

Now I do have the giggles.

Pain & Gain
Budget - $26,000,000 (estimated)
Gross - $49,874,933 (USA) + $86,175,291 (worldwide)
Opening weekend - $20,244,505 (USA)

So not only did Pain & Gain make a "small" profit, it nearly made its money back on the opening weekend.
As for The Island, every director has a bomb. Clearly he's bounced back from it though.

So keep stretching there to justify your hate for Bay. It gives me giggles.

Look, dude... I know the movies are bad, but you don't have to try and prove they were unsuccessful. The two don't always go hand in hand.

No disrespect "Mr Admin" but it doesn't sound like you know how Hollywood studio's turn a profit!

Marketing/Advertising isn't part of a films budget but you still have to factor that in which could range anywhere from half to the same amount as the budget to make the film. Plus Hollywood doesn't get the full box office back WW. Domestically they'd be lucky to get 55% the other 45% goes to theaters and oversea's they'd be lucky to get a 3rd of the box office (only 25% in China according to reports) there after "expenses". Google it!

In fact you can start by reading here: http://io9.gizmodo.com/5747305/how-much ... profitable

You're welcome! 8-)

While put a bit rudely; it is true that when you're part of a movie, any interview will generally have you praising it no matter what - sometimes to ridiculous extents. This is why I tend to stay away from these sort of interviews for anything; it's impossible to tell if the actor is honestly giving their actual honest opinion or if they're just trying to big up the movie because working on it is kind of their job.

Case in point; only after he left the movies and his contract was over did Hugo Weaving say his role as Megatron in Transformers (do we have a name for this besides just 'transformers'? Honestly curious), ROTF and DOTM felt unfulfilling.

It's just what happens. I'm not gonna criticise Hopkins here or anything - honestly that'd be dickish either way - this is just standard procedure for any modern movie. Tells us nothing. Now if his contract ends and he still says Bay's a genius? THAT will be interesting and I'll be all ears...

Your link didn't want to work for me "Mr YoungPrime". It insisted on redirecting to Gizmodo Australia.

But I stand corrected regardless, clearly you're a expert on all things Hollywood. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us as to how you came to have such a qualified opinion on all things Hollywood production and what makes a good or bad Director?

Or are you still trying to make your OPINION a fact?

Regardless, his financial bombs are still outweighed by his financial successes. Unless you have something to prove me wrong on that as well.

Of course the people had to be disrespectful and record it even when officials said not to right in the theater.

Also a failure on the guards but I don't blame them since you can't keep track of them all.

Was Weaving ever on set or just in a booth recording voice work after filming was all done?

I never heard anything about Hugo being on set for ROTF or DOTM not sure about movie 1 though since I was a kid then and the news websites were not as "organised" compared to now.

Then again the voice actors are pretty much never on set which is usually why we only hear about voice actors via announcements only a couple months prior to a movie coming out or sometimes early like what we heard for Peter Cullen and John Goodman for this movie.

Only exception to this is Mark Ryan where he is on set sometimes to double as some characters on set for the actors to react to while filming the scenes, in the end most of these voices are dubbed over by a character's proper voice actor in the movie for example he did this a few times during DOTM filming despite the fact he doesn't voice anyone in the movie.

yeah I wasn't sure if Weaving just said it perhaps because he may just prefer actually acting on set rather than doing voices?

Yeah, he wasn't particularly involved. If you're interested here's the full snippet from his interview. For full context it was about his upcoming role in The Hobbit and they figured they'd ask for a bit about his other movies (including a few Marvel ones) so there's not a lot on it.

Collider: As the voice of Megatron, has Michael Bay called about the next Transformers movie yet?

WEAVING: No. That’s a weird job for me because it honestly was a two-hour voice job, initially. I was doing a play and I actually didn’t have time, anyway. It was one of the only things I’ve ever done where I had no knowledge of it, I didn’t care about it, I didn’t think about it. They wanted me to do it. In one way, I regret that bit. I don’t regret doing it, but I very rarely do something if it’s meaningless. It was meaningless to me, honestly. I don’t mean that in any nasty way. I did it. It was a two-hour voice job, while I was doing other things. Of course, it’s a massive film that’s made masses of money. I just happened to be the voice of one of the iconic villainous characters. But, my link to that and to Michael Bay is so minimal. I have never met him. I was never on set. I’ve seen his face on Skype. I know nothing about him, really. I just went in and did it. I never read the script. I just have my lines, and I don’t know what they mean. That sounds absolutely pathetic! I’ve never done anything like that, in my life. It’s hard to say any more about it than that, really.

Though if you want someone who was actually on the set - for three movies, no less - LaBeouf has... much less flattering things to say about the experience if you look it up. And then there was that whole thing with Megan Fox...

Anyhow, the point of me bringing up Hugo Weaving was to illustrate the point that people working on a movie will only ever say negative things about said movie after their contract ends - before then it's all glittering, sparkling praise about how the movie is the most amazing thing ever and how they love everyone else on set and how nothing like this has ever been done before in the history of Cinema. Especially before the movie's actually released. So I don't really trust interviews like this because they almost always contain hyperbole and bias - if you want to know an actor's real opinion on the movie they're working on, wait a couple years 'till they're free from the studio's strings.

Nothing against the Transformers movies in particular here; this is just how the modern film industry is. Notice you don't get anything like Orson Welles' rather scathing lines about his role as Unicron in the 1986 movie anymore.

Mark Wahlberg Love Interest Subplot In Transformers: The Last Knight

In two recent interviews, a US Weekly interview with Josh Duhamel, and a HeyUGuys interview with Laura Haddock, a previously unknown subplot of The Last Knight has been revealed: Haddock will be playing Vivian Wembley, an Oxford University professor and Mark Wahlberg's love interest in the film. In Duhamel's interview, he discusses filming one of the film's stunts:

We’re doing this big scene where we’re all about to jump for our lives from this thing, and we’re strapped tandem-style with parachutes. Mark is attached to Laura Haddock — his love interest in the movie — and then there’s me and Santiago Cabrera attached to each other, and I’m tandem-ing him down because he’s injured,” the actor explains. “Wahlberg comes up just before we start — before [Michael] Bay says, ‘Action’ — he goes, ‘Hey, are you guys tandem-ing together?’ I go, ‘Yeah.’ He goes, ‘Oh, so it’s like a love story.’ I was like, ‘Son of a *****. You get the girl [and] you’re making fun of me and Santiago over here because we’re tandem-ing.

In Haddock's interview, she discusses her experiences on set, as well as her opinion on Michael Bay's directing.

The attractive middle age woman is going to be a love interest for the similarly aged, single, male protagonist?
That's the biggest surprise ever.
Oh wait, that is the most obvious movie cliché there in terms of character relationships.
Honestly I don't mind the romance as long as it isn't too dramatic and tries to take control of the story from the more important parts, i.e S4 Arrow: Olicity.
Honestly I'm more interested in the adult's relationship with Izabella and of course, the whole transformers stuff that should be at the forefront of the film.

If people receive multiple warnings due to posts in this thread is there a way to only ban them from these specific forums?

Like repeated offensives would lead to not being able to post in the movie forum?

Only a suggestion and I'm talking only about the people who go hard core on the hate not the people who simply have a different opinion.

Right which is why I don't bother with the report button because sometimes I'm not sure if the post while say harsh like saying things about another person is breaking the rules.

I couldn't remember any rules to safe my life nor much of anything for that matter.
