It uses Ums' swivel assembly for the cab, so, not out the back of the cab, there are no hinges on the front or sides of the cab, so the pilot gimmick has been removed too, so there must be a lot of trickery goin' on with the cab roof

Maybe a whole section of the roof just inverts to reveal the socket for the head and the helmet, which can rotate back to allow the head to plug in. either way there is a lot of room in that cab to fiddle with the gimmick that's for sure

Indeed, it's so well handled, I'm wondering if UM was a stripped down remold for this

Yeah, but there's no way to access it, except from the top it seems, so it must all just flip around'n stuff

It almost appears as though the skeleton was mostly kept, and everything else was tore away and reengineered. there literally is so much going on there.
Which is similar to how they did Fort Max. If he can form that base mode that was in that little picture, then he could be considered a whole new mold considering the extra transformation bits that would be needed. Same with prime. They both could potentially qualify for new molds they are so extensively retooled

Which goes back to my point: at what point is a retool a new figure?
Swindle and hound count as new figs for me, pm/op does as well.
I don't hung up on piddly little things like that, if I like it, I'll buy it, if not, I won't, something has to be really blatant/lazy for me to actually get upset over it![]()
(glares at a pic of cw brawl)

Thanks buddy, that is super smart.
And it makes me super happy.
Also, thay would mean that his base mode is mistransformed here since those connecrtors arent positioned correctly. I hope the real transformation includes ramps. Even Magnus can have ramps in his fan base mode.
One thing I wanted to note, his arms dont transform different than magnus much afterall. They are simply already in the proper place below the shoulder since they dont need to reach the end of the trailer anymore since there are unfolding panels to cover up the arms under the trailer roof.
Anyways, I am more interestted now since I like how this is a closed trailer. And I personally really like pannelforming when it is neatly stored away in robot mode, as seems to be the case here. But yes, the feet are the same and technically streetwise is more retooled from dead end than PM Prime is from Magnus.

Well, that can be why there are ramps, so they can get under the legs and clip together; but I would hazard that there is some mis-transformation goin' on, or something we can't see at this angle.

not gonna lie here, the connect to form large cities thing is starting to appeal to me. It is so like the G1 combiner torso guys being able to connect to Metro and everyone to make larger playsets. I could cyberform a whole shelf of display area using leaders and titans now!

That is the idea
D-Maximus_Prime wrote:OK, just noticed this: on Max's right chest area, there is a red area that appears to be a swivel, implying that the right arm can rotate in front of the chest area when transforming into a new mold. that, coupled with the legs splaying out sideways and the chest area forming a tower, seems to me imply that this is a new mold using some old parts, such as the arms and leg splitting area.

Yeah, magnus had those too

But in all honesty, if you don't like a figure because it transforms the same way as another, then you must not like many cars. How many of them transform the same way?

Only the retools and repaints as well as most of the movie bumblebees. But the rest transform differently from one another and I love seeing how Hasbro and takara find new ways to transform similar alt modes. RID Drift, BUmblebee and Sideswipe all transform very differently even though they are all cars and same for Prime Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Vehicon and Wheeljack even if they were also all cars. And Animated Bumblebee, Lockdown, Rodimus Minor, Arcee, Blurr and Jazz, they all transform differently too but yet are all cars.

Oh man, ani lockdown was the best, if they had carried over his transformation style to the aoe figure, he would have been awesome
