Maybe a whole section of the roof just inverts to reveal the socket for the head and the helmet, which can rotate back to allow the head to plug in. either way there is a lot of room in that cab to fiddle with the gimmick that's for sure :BOT:

Indeed, it's so well handled, I'm wondering if UM was a stripped down remold for this :-?

It almost appears as though the skeleton was mostly kept, and everything else was tore away and reengineered. there literally is so much going on there.

Which is similar to how they did Fort Max. If he can form that base mode that was in that little picture, then he could be considered a whole new mold considering the extra transformation bits that would be needed. Same with prime. They both could potentially qualify for new molds they are so extensively retooled :BOT:

Or maybe the whole front opens up like Magnus' did, and that is how you manage to open the roof up and reveal the gimmickry. Or the helmet comes out of the trailer since Apex would ride in the cab most likely :BOT:

Which goes back to my point: at what point is a retool a new figure?

Swindle and hound count as new figs for me, pm/op does as well.

I don't hung up on piddly little things like that, if I like it, I'll buy it, if not, I won't, something has to be really blatant/lazy for me to actually get upset over it >:oP

Pretty much. I mean, we'll have to see what Will says about Max. If the transformation does differ from Plex considering how different that city looks, Max could actually be considered a new mold. will have to see how PW Prime does some of his transforming, but he could very well count as a new mold too to me at least :BOT:

Thanks buddy, that is super smart.

And it makes me super happy.

Also, thay would mean that his base mode is mistransformed here since those connecrtors arent positioned correctly. I hope the real transformation includes ramps. Even Magnus can have ramps in his fan base mode.

One thing I wanted to note, his arms dont transform different than magnus much afterall. They are simply already in the proper place below the shoulder since they dont need to reach the end of the trailer anymore since there are unfolding panels to cover up the arms under the trailer roof.

Anyways, I am more interestted now since I like how this is a closed trailer. And I personally really like pannelforming when it is neatly stored away in robot mode, as seems to be the case here. But yes, the feet are the same and technically streetwise is more retooled from dead end than PM Prime is from Magnus.

I want Godbomber. Lets hope Takara does a slight remold for Powermaster Prime/Super Ginrai like they did for Titan Devastator. Will wait for Takara after all their Legends Ultra Magnus is superior to Hasbro's.

Well, that can be why there are ramps, so they can get under the legs and clip together; but I would hazard that there is some mis-transformation goin' on, or something we can't see at this angle.

Ugh, I've been hoping for a new PM Prime for ages, but this heavy retool of CW UM doesn't do it for me. :-(

OK, just noticed this: on Max's right chest area, there is a red area that appears to be a swivel, implying that the right arm can rotate in front of the chest area when transforming into a new mold. that, coupled with the legs splaying out sideways and the chest area forming a tower, seems to me imply that this is a new mold using some old parts, such as the arms and leg splitting area. :BOT:

not gonna lie here, the connect to form large cities thing is starting to appeal to me. It is so like the G1 combiner torso guys being able to connect to Metro and everyone to make larger playsets. I could cyberform a whole shelf of display area using leaders and titans now! :BOT:

Note that there are ramps pointing towards the back of the figure, the panels obviously wrap around the legs for bot mode.

Where does Magnus have red rotation points like that? And I was referring to Fort Max, not Prime if that's what you meant :BOT:

If it is a new mold or not, the only real answer is the following: its a remold. Does that make it a new enough toy for you though? That will differ from each person. For example, you will notice from the toys below that although none share the same sculpt, they are all distinct toys from one another mold wise but many share the same transformation and thus make something that was already lackluster, even more of a dull experience:

Deep down, its all personal taste. While a toy may be new, the fact that it shares a similar transformation over another takes away the novelty of its transformation, so I am not really getting a new experience from what would be considered a new toy, and thus the value of the toy changes big time for me. I would feel I would want to pay less depending on how much I need the toy in my life and the fact that I dont experience a new transformation would take some value away (then again it may be that the deco makes the toy fit with my collection differently and thus changes the deco). People will have different opinions about that.

Also, to everyone saying there is now a leader Prime to match leader Megatron, these iterations never met nor fought against one another, so it wouldnt be a recreation of G1 (which it technically never was considering Megatron's alt mode). Instead it would simply be a new take on both characters in a new scale, which is what classics did all those years ago at the voyager scale.

Pretty cool Prime here. I'm a little bummed he isn't really a Powermaster but it isn't a deal breaker. I'm quite impressed with all the new parts & details. Seeing him in hand should be fun.

There's enough difference in the legs for the transformation to be different.

But in all honesty, if you don't like a figure because it transforms the same way as another, then you must not like many cars. How many of them transform the same way?

This guy? This guy is awesome. But I loved the Magnus toy, I loved the original PMOP (even without it's limited articulation which I had to fix), this is a great combination of both.

Only the retools and repaints as well as most of the movie bumblebees. But the rest transform differently from one another and I love seeing how Hasbro and takara find new ways to transform similar alt modes. RID Drift, BUmblebee and Sideswipe all transform very differently even though they are all cars and same for Prime Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Vehicon and Wheeljack even if they were also all cars. And Animated Bumblebee, Lockdown, Rodimus Minor, Arcee, Blurr and Jazz, they all transform differently too but yet are all cars.

Oh man, ani lockdown was the best, if they had carried over his transformation style to the aoe figure, he would have been awesome :HEADHURTS:

I don't see why people are complaining about the lack of a Powermaster.
That wasn't even that good of a feature in concept, and in practice it was clever, sure, but also impractical.

Now, if it's the fact that it's a HEADMASTER...So what? We've already established that Headmasters are the main gimmick of this portion of the franchise.

I mean, really. What's the point of not expecting a figure to not have a gimmick when said gimmick is going to be prevalent in this part of the toyline?

I agree that the RotF/Animated style would have been awesome to see in AoE.
