Maybe because SXS oriented at the G1 version and TR also does this?! :BANG_HEAD:

well you can argue semantics all you want! but it doesn't detract from the fact that the last use of that mold....was with a 3p figure!

now! at least in the creative USE of this mold....we'll probably get to see this figure(with it's remnants of Overclocking) released in bricks & mortar stores in the UK, while up til now...people have been shouting "BUT YOU'LL NEVER SEE A 3p FIGURE RELEASED IN PHYSICAL STORES WITHIN THE UK!" so i guess they've found a creative way to release this one :-P

although it does now make me wonder what other 3p molds they'll creatively use for Titans Return :-?

I dont have the figure and dont know of that eature so I cant comment on that, sorry.

I guess this will depend on how good it looks as a weapon.

Do you have pics to share?

As for retools, I am currently compiling a list of the best retools and none of CW figures on there. Nothing comes close to what Takara did with Battle Grimlock or BWN Killer Punch

overclocking shares nothig with titan returns blurr mold except that it's blurr. sxs ripped of hasbro to make their figure but hasbro has nothing incommon with that design except that its based on G1 blurr just like sxs did. animated blurr had a shield weapon and so did G1 blurr.

So Hasbro shouldn't make any more toys of characters that have been used by 3PCs? :HEADHURTS:

I really think you are overthinking this. A 3rd party figure and a hasbro product are shooting for the same exact thing. Of course they will be similar. But that in no way means that the molds are relatable. They both shoot for the cybertronian G1 cartoon Blurr, and they have to look similar since they are going at the same thing. And just cause they look alike means nothing. The hasbro version will have to be much easier to transform as that is their MO and the 3rd party one a more difficult one. Plus the hasbro one is a headmaster, whereas the other is a regular blurr.

This has nothing to do with a 3rd party fig. This is a new mold then reused as Brainstorm to accomplish the original look and aesthetic. :BOT:

Because they're ALL based on G1 Blurr.

You don't get to accuse Hasbro of copying third-party toys when the third-party toys copied Hasbro in the first place.

No way, the back of the TR version looks nothing like Brainstorm. He has a single fin instead of the appropriate tail fins on the side? This guy is fun to have your headmasters be the same size but that's it. It's clearly a retool and nothing more.

Much as I hate to be cynical, but even so the chances of it seeing mass retail in the UK are about 1 percent. and about 10 percent of it being released through Toys R Us. Bearing in mind they completely skipped the Stunticons from combiner wars.. And almost all of the Thrilling 30 toys were exclusive to them. :(

This whole conversation about the new TR Blurr/Brainstorm mold resembling a 3rd party figure just reinforces how the label of "3rd party toys" is more of a misnomer while a more straightforward label for those not-Transformers toys would be "IP theft toys". ;)

Stu, you are really, really, really wrong about this, so please stop going on about it. Hasbro stole nothing from a 3rd party (or as I refer to them in my head, nice looking knock offs). They won't be using any ko stuff in stores or as anything.

Also in the UK we'll get the first wave of titan returns but it'll be hit and miss after that.

the generations version had so much effort dedicated to the robot mode and they killed it. the vehicle mode did look a bit clunky with all that stuff in the back. But this is a different styled Brainstorm. The vehicle mode does look off even if it is more streamline. the Generations version is my true version, but I will still have him. And yes that one tailfin when the shoulders in bot mode appear to have the fins to fold up is annoying :BOT:

look alike! LOOK ALIKE! THEY'RE FROM THE SAME BLOODY MOLD PAL!(albeit with a bit of a retool) or are you just willing to refuse to accept it because it's ME that your talking to? coz had it been someone else that had made a similar comment....then you might've said something along the lines of "y'know...you could be right about that"(or certainly a more positive response) & then proceed to proverbially pat them on the back.
