To be fair, after Combiner Wars the Dead End mold is probably... well, dead.

Dunno. My Megatron and Hot Rod have been pretty much flawless in regards to QC. I had issues with the earlier stuff. Hardhead's head would wobble like crazy and his large gun kept dropping off. My Takara legends Scourge and Blurr had really loose antenna and trying to fix Blurr's resulted in an accient where it's now permanently stuck halfway.

But the ones you mentioned (Scattershot, Swindle/Hound, Wheeljack, Onslaught, and Trailbreaker) were indeed molds that had been changed after their original uses (theirs being Silverbolt, Rook, Breakdown, Hot Spot, and Offroad, respectively). That fits your use of the word "retool", right?Qwan wrote:Sabrblade wrote:But... that isn't incorrect.Qwan wrote:(And yeah, I realize my usage of 'retool' isn't technically correct - I used it in this circumstance simply to indicate "mold is different to some extent from previous uses". Isn't it? I thought I remembered the general conclusion being that "retool" indicates changes being made to the mold after its original use, which I had the idea those examples weren't (though actually, I don't really have a basis for that assumption other than Hasbro's general pattern with the line). But then again, I was probably just trying to hard to be totally 100% correct and overdid it with the exact definitions. *shrug*

Pretools are a kind of retool. They just fall in the category of "all pretools are retools, but not all retools are pretools".Qwan wrote:Sabrblade wrote:But the ones you mentioned (Scattershot, Swindle/Hound, Wheeljack, Onslaught, and Trailbreaker) were indeed molds that had been changed after their original uses (theirs being Silverbolt, Rook, Breakdown, Hot Spot, and Offroad, respectively). I was under the impression that they (more likely) counted as "pretools" rather than "retools", since it seems probable that the different toolings were planned and incorporated from the start.

I didn't actually know it existed until now. Halp?

I honestly can't recall if it was in the little blue pocket protector or in a separate package. I accidentally threw away Hot Rod's right-gun half ;_;
