Okay, I've been trying to keep my negativity to myself, but I have to let this out. Alpha Trion is possibly the worst transformer I've seen in several years. :SICK:

Yeah, its because he is all about the robot mode. As a non transforming figure, he could look good but his alt modes suffer and thus he as a transformer suffers.

Hey I know you werent too fond of what Hasbro was doing, but how do you feel about Takara's take on these toys? Their Blurr is just too good to pass up on me and there is something I realized that a guy like you could appreciated, they resculpted his head to include his classic antenna:

Always a pleasure! And I hear you, I feel the same way when I look at older Transformers designs. Like we all know how Beast Machines Cheetor worked out, and the final toy wasnt that far from this, but isnt this cheetor design so damn cool!

Yeah, something went awry during the design process, at least the ship mode is passable and very cybertronian; Not too keen on any reuse of this mold, especially if they wanna do a character as cool as thundertron :-s

weird. I really like Alpha Trion here. As a character he's never appealed to me much but I love the look of this toy, particularly the robot and beast forms. He's far more interesting to look at than Sentinel Prime in the same line who just looks like a big overly-orange brick to me. Certainly appeals to me more than most things I've seen in CW and easily RiD lines too. Still undecided about getting him though cos costs and I don't want too many figures and this Titan Returns line is appealing to me in so many ways Combiner Wars completely and utterly failed to.

Huh, from that angle the Lion mode actually looks much better.

Alpha Trion is definetely something I love the look of - especially Robot Mode, of course - but I doubt I'll end up getting him unfortunately. There's just too many other guys here to prioritize; Chromedome, Rewind, Galvatron, Astrotrain, Wolfwire, Blurr, SKULLCRUNCHER...
The problem with this line being so amazing to me is that there's so many great guys I won't end up getting them all

Since when does a contracted artist working for a major company displaying the art that the company owns in full featuring that company's own IP to the public where photography is encouraged get to tell anyone to take the images down? When you draw something for someone else for money you relinquish ownership. It's up to the owner, Hasbro, to decide if the image needs to be removed, you should ask them.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of this trion. Robot mode looks great, lion mode reminds me of a megazord component with its chunkiness which hits a huge nostalgic note for me. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the ship mode. I mean it's passable as a Cybertronian ship but I'm not totally crazy about it. Maybe it's the gun plugged in that's throwing me off.

I asked a Hasbro rep at the Hasbro display about that horn and the answer I got basically gave me the impression that Alpha Trion's beast mode was going to have that horn regardless of what animal it was going to be, as the horn was seemingly in the plans for the figure from the get-go.

I didn't get to ask about it any further since it was close to the end of the day and they were trying to get everyone out of the room.

I just noticed somthing while looking at the pics. Alpha Trion is going to have a ugly backpack. Its very easy to see how he goes from Robot to ship, the ship mode is pretty much the robot on his tummy with his legs pegged together. But that means that on his back he has that big cockpit. I am currently looking for any pics of his back since that cockpit is surely there since it isnt absorbed anywhere in the bot mode.

Yeah, thats why people mistook the drawing of Alpha Trion's alt mode for a hint at Broadside. But this doesnt work since the Hasbro catalogue of upcoming possible toys said Braidside turned into a jet and an aircraft carrier.
