Hey guys...having grown up on G1, Beast Wars, Prime and RID, I am genuinely surprised at the excitement for Nautica (a character I know very little about). Is this based just on her appearances in the comics, or was she in other media? Not trying to knock on anyone's favorite character...just curious.

I know that everyone is excited over Nautica, but uh, what mould does Fastlane come from?

I thought it was Chromedome, but the legs become the front. So is it Full-Tilt or something? 'Cause his arms are like 3x the thickness of Full-Tilt

She's exclusive to the MTMTE comics, unless I've missed some obscure TFCC story. But she's a well-loved character in that series - in my opinion she's the best female character in the franchise - and even beyond just that, this is the first time a comic-original character has gotten a toy since Drift and Straxus! (comic versions of pre-existing characters like CW Ultra Magnus and TR Rewind notwithstanding)

Don't feel bad. I have read every issue of MTMTE, and admittedly am not a big fan, which is why I have no idea who she is...but like you said, I'm happy for the fans that like her.

It isn't the Full-Tilt mold, the proportions are all wrong (FT is rather skinny) and the wheels on Fastlane don't come up to his knees. Plus he appears to be a Legends figure, he's a lot shorter than Nautica next to him. Still not sure what his base mold is, maybe the Clones are getting unique shared molds?

So the Voyager in this set is Voyager Prime in G2 colors, can't say I was expecting that.

Nautica is sort of like me as a Transformer: engineer, loves to read, her famous hand-held thingamajig is not a gun but rather a Dr. Who styled Wrench, she turns into a submarine, and she's sort of a dork with one of the best personalities of the comics. She is a great character, and in my opinion, better than any other female Transformers to date. Like, easily. She beats Windblade, she beats Arcee, hell, she beats Blackarachnia. She is awesome, and considering her comic-genesis, a toy is amazing and shows how accepted she has become.

Scrounge, CW Impactor, Sentinel Prime are some other recent examples! I hope the trend continues. Nautica looks pretty fun.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the bot next to Topspin is Misfire under bad lighting. Or, it is Windblade, and she's sharing a mold with Misfire. See how the legs transform? That's a very Misfire way to do things. The way the wing tips point downward as well make me think this. Granted, the front of the jet could mess this up. Maybe Windblade and Topspin parts make a Misfire?

The OP in the box set looks to be changing out the blue for black to give it more of a G2 look. That's neat.

I'm actually not that excited about Nautica- granted I've never read IDW, but her being an obvious retool of Blurr means she's going to inherit his big manly shoulder and total lack of hips- which would be bad enough if she was a completely new character, but for a 'bot with an already defined (and very feminine) look it's extra sucky. It's Victorion all over again.

Still, it worked for Megaempress so maybe it'll be alright for her? I'll wait and see in any case. If the others in the box are appealing enough I might bite.

Well TT tend not to release the same mold twice, however I would rather hope for Great Shot rather than Sixknight since the Sixshot mold is closer to Greatshot.

I'm more interested in whether or not he has a Titan Master cockpit. If he doesn't, it means one of two things:

- It's a retool of an older mold
- Instead of having a cockpit, he is a Triple Changer like the tablets. Which means we may get both Clones in a single toy.

What we mean is that in regular retail they don't repeat molds if they can help it. Retools usually end up as exclusives there, or skipped altogether. Soundwave and Blaster are exceptions due to their iconic nature.

This has been repeated ad nauseam, but here are the retools skipped for general retail Legends, starting with T30:

- Gears (Swerve)
- Dreadwing (Megatron)
- Goldfire (Bumblebee)
- Crosscut (Skids)
- Jhiaxus (Starscream)
- Nightbeat (Bumblebee, released as the exclusive Goshooter)

- Windcharger (Tailgate)
- Huffer/Pipes (Optimus Prime)

- Chop Shop (Skrapnel)
- Wreck-Gar (Groove)
- Battle Core Optimus Prime
- Thundercracker, Starscream, Skywarp (Jetfire)
- Armada Megatron (released as an exclusive)

On the flipside, here are the retools that did get released:

- Hoist (Trailbreaker, in a 2-pack)
- Sandstorm (Springer)
- Chromia (Prime Arcee)

The character role plus the amount of changed parts plays a role in that decision it seems.
