I'll have to check mine too we just restocked with Wave 2 revision, so Headmasters a plenty.

Yeah, I'm really thinking this is a factory error unless a considerable number more show up. The difference in plastic color is enough to raise an eyebrow alone, but to also have the Legends paint really lowers the likelihood of this being a true running change.

I haven't seen Chromedome since December, was this found with the rest of wave 2 or in the revision wave?

The revised wave 2 is being put out at some Walmarts at the moment. At least two in my area have tons of them.

The revised wave 2 is being put out at some Walmarts at the moment. At least two in my area have tons of them.

Same with most of the Walmarts I have gone to. Flooded with that revision wave. I'm still seeing wave 2 and Brainstorm heavy at Walgreens as well. I'm surprised I've seen a few wave 3'rs pop up at a few WMs.

For me its the difference in screws that confirms it.

Anyways, I think I only have one Chromedome near me (and he's been around since Wave 2 actually came out), but I didn't really bother checking up on him so I'll report my findings later this afternoon.

(Plus I'm pretty sure that my stores are going to restock in the next few days - I'm always pretty sure of that, aren't I? - so either I'll finally see Wave 4 Deluxes or there'll be more Chromedomes for me to check up on. That or more Wave 3. Please not more Wave 3.)

The difference in plastic colors, along with the different screws (Hasbro always goes for "silver" screws, while Takara does the black ones), leads me to believe as others have said that this is a factory error. It makes me wonder if there are some Takara Chromedomes out their with Hasbro heads? Weird.

If there are, it would support my theory that the Chromedomes of either side had their production schedules overlap, resulting in mix-ups like this.

I believe there is a slight error in this theory. I have one of the original Chromedome's that was not a Takara variant, and it has a stamped code. The code is different though, it is 62641. I am not saying that the one found is NOT a Takara, but I am saying the "normal" ones have a code too. You can't just base it on code or absence of code, but the actual number itself.

What code are we talking here, and where was it located?

The stamped number I think is the production run number, and I don't know if that's determined by the factory, or by either Hasbro or TakaraTomy. They should differ anyway as they're considered different products, plus later runs have different, higher, numbers.
The painted code is the product ID number, which remains the same. For Stylor & Chromedome it's #B7034.

Well this just goes to show how my luck runs. Somewhere out there there are Chromedomes randomly and sporadically packed with the Takara head, meanwhile I pick the voyager class Optimus Prime yesterday and it comes with everything it is supposed to have EXCEPT the instruction booklet and it happens to be one of those fiddly figures where having said instructions, while not necessary, would really have made my life a bit easier.
I'm just curious as to what other factory screw ups are floating around out there. I know that at least one Twinferno was packaged with a TM that had two left arms. My son got blessed with that one. Has no bearing on anything functional at all but once you see it you can't really un-see it.

The painted code is the product ID number, which remains the same. For Stylor & Chromedome it's #B7034.

It makes it cheap to re-enact part of the LG-EX Headmaster set: just by one of each and have JP Stylor man the cockpit in robot mode.

Well, myself and some other people got Twinfernos with two of the same gun instead of opposing sides.

And several of us had that happen with Triggerhappy. So factory errors in this line are quite common.
