I'm a little disappointed that Misfire's two pink plastic colors don't line up too well since it makes him look a little cluttered color-wise (though I'm sure it'll be a lot less noticeable in the final), but Slugslinger just looks absolutely delish. Even if they have Triggerhappy's legs, they look different enough that I'm really looking forward to getting these two!

(And yep, looks like Slugslinger has a central cockpit and two fake ones - and it worked out pretty well IMO!)

Thanks to Hasbro once gain - the Titanmaster names will be the same as their 80s Nebulons. Misfire has Aimless and Slugslinger has Caliburst. (disclaimer - the names could change at any time before release)

Interesting that Seaspray and Cosmos' cards show them in vehicle mode, rather than robot like everyone else so far (I think). I wonder if there's a reason for that?

At least three of those uses are for the Decepticon Targetmasters. I'm not trying to defend the mold reuse but it does give it a nice uniformity to them.

And I mean, they're all distinct toolings and each has a very distinctive look and silhouette. Yeah it's not fantastic to see the same legs over and over (even though as Jelze pointed out, very little else seems to be shared with Triggerhappy, especially engineering-wise) - but it's way better than Dead End next to Brake-neck next to Streetwise next to Prowl next to Smokescreen next to Dustup next to G2 Dead End next to G2 Brake-neck (maybe with Club Bluestreak in there too just for extra effect).

Wave 3 deluxes: still haven't seen them. really pissed over this.
Wave 4: no one in sight yet. And people have been finding them for a while now.
Wave 5: Windblade is a retool, Twintwist is a retool, Blitzwing and Octone are slight retools, Overlord is a retool, Ramhorn is a retool for goodness sake. Everyone in wave 5 save Seaspray is a retool or re-release, and if Misfire and Slugslinger are in wave 6, that starts wave 6 off with retools too.

Dear god...this is bad.

I don't consider them retools at all, all that's shared are the legs, maybe parts of the arms and of course the Titan Master as per usual (kind of reminds me of RotF Cannon Bumblebee). Everything else is original tooling.

The complaints are showing how spoiled we have been become back during those 2009-2013.

At least were getting these characters at all We could be getting the popular 1984 bots again for the 100th time.

Most of these characters were either old bricks or expensive exclusives before.

Yeah, the retooling is really not so bad in this line to be honest. Part-sharing and shared engineering is an ingenious solution to the issue of budget restrictions - I hope we can all at least agree on that - but even compared to other lines the retooling is actually pretty good. I probably don't even need to mention Combiner Wars, even though I just did a few posts up, but just looking at the Deluxe class the original Classics line had a minor/moderate retool and a straight redeco by Wave 3 (Starscream->Ramjet and Bumblebee->Cliffjumper). In its 6-wave run (just like TR!) the subsequent Universe line had 5 Deluxe redecos (one bordering on a straight re-release from Classics) and 1 minor (though aesthetically very different) retool.

For comparison, TR's Deluxe class has so far (i.e. up to those currently revealed) sported 3 new-head redecos, one minor retool (plus another if you count Brainstorm), one reshell/major retool, two instances of shared engineering and two as-yet unknowns (who are probably in the major retool/shared engineering camp). Not really so bad when you look at it that way.

It really depends on how you look at it. Windblade, Sluslinger and Misfire are all part-sharing/shared engineering (which can be taken to mean that they're practically new toys - you can't really say that Blurr and Chromedome are retools, or anything less than unique figures with some shared parts). Even the minor retools are better than new-head redecos - which to be fair there are a few of in this line already, but that's where comparison to previous lines comes in. If you ignore magnitude of difference then yeah TR is pretty bad with mold re-use, but taking into account how much is changed between each figure puts everything in a much better light, especially compared to previous "Generations-style" lines that were held in high regard.

Maybe I'm being too positive or idealistic, and I'm certainly not saying that your way of looking at things is wrong - but I do think it's a little unnecessarily pessimistic to lump everything into "retool" and claim that TR has nothing new to offer any more.

But we are only bummed because hasbro chose to release these cool molds as the "retools" before getting the real guys. While its true, I dont find it as fair to say that we are only getting retools in this wave when guys like Blitzwing, Overlord and Octone are the ones who those molds were made for.

It sucks that we are let down by the toys we should have gotten in the first place, thats all I am saying.

Its also a callback ot G1, where Misfire and Sligslinger had shared engineering. The feet and leg sections share a very similar design and fold up the same way.

If the G1 toys share a transformation and look, I dont know why its surprising to see it happen again here.

Looks like Misfire only has one functioning cockpit out of the three. It would have been cool if he could hold two or three Headmasters.

Nah it's not you just that everyone else is overly cynical.

These complaints are absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary I would understand and agree if they were only straight repaints with no new tooling like Getaway but these two are not their pretty much new while using a base figure and changing a lot of the mold.

Just like Broadside from Alpha Trion or Optimus and Takara Ginrai from this line or Dead End to Streetwise from Combiner Wars.

I do agree with you.

Another thing is that in a couple of cases the "pretool" is better. I like Sky Shadow significantly more than Overlord, I have no interest in Blitzwing (even if Megatron is a letdown) and Optimus looks better in my opinion than Octone.

I'm just not liking at least 2 uses per most molds, or more. The boxsets still sting with what could have been done to some of them had an extra mile been taken, and then these guys show up. I'm bummed by lack of creativity.

I also think Sureshot nailed it in another thread he and I were talking in about this: the current "G1 figure with articulation" move is also tiring. There isn't as great of creativity as before. The titan master class has proven to be the more interesting class with its reveals as of late.

Also, Broadside is shite compared to Alpha Trion seeing as how Broadside's aircraft mode is utterly ridiculous, Ginrai was cool but the Dead End/Streetwise was really neutered after both molds got lots of repaints. and the same is happening with parts here.

I am good with Domey and Blurr sharing thighs, but when it comes down to 4 figures sharing over half their bodies, then it feels kinda suckish

I think he meant to say slugslinger and not misfire

Kinda random but I have no idea why Misfire has a pink helmet. It's not accurate to anything he's been in. I'm still getting him and putting some black/dark gray paint on the helmet but it's just odd.
