Best Ravage IMO is Energon Battle Ravage. Sure his robot mode articulation is kinda iffy, and he can't fit in any version of Soundwave (or anything really) but he's a lot of fun in Jaguar mode, he looks cool as hell and he has a flail tail. I kinda like the idea of him being a bigger "attack cat" for Soundwave rather than a teeny chest minion.

Best Ravage to me is X-9. Takara's Beast Wars Ravage. Yes, he's a remould of TM Cheetor, but dang he's so good. Dual pistols, that double as hip missiles in beast mode, great proportions in both modes, poseable and shiney black plastic. Mmmmm.... such a great cat. And cat is scaled with mp's.
Beast Wars FOREVER!

Ravage (and Soundwave!) are two of my absolute faves, so I can't say their TR incarnations did much for me -- of course, I skipped this Soundwave and bought dat MP reissue from Asia....
I do wonder what other new characters from the comics will get a figure next!
Soundwave is easily still my favorite Transformer (although MTMTE has given him a fair bit of competition). My IDW/Classics Soundwave is currently the Takara Fall of Cybertron voyager - I feel like a lot of people didn't care for this mold and especially the Takara paint job, and that was incredibly confusing to me.
I still have to paint my Titans Return Ravage and maybe mod him a bit so he's not on display, but he was super disappointing. I'd stick the Masterpiece one on the shelf but he's with the matching Soundwave, so I'd need another one. Incidentally I'm incredibly lucky I got an order in for the TAV Rumble and Frenzy - they went fast and as far as we know there's still no TR Frenzy announced.
Also Kurona, those panels with Soundwave were some of the most tragic in the whole MTMTE run for me. It was like seeing Leia slowly collapse in The Force Awakens after Han got killed.

I missed out on the FoC figures, Roadburn!
That said, though, I did play the games years later, and really enjoyed the designs. I can definitely see why you have this incarnation as your IDW/Classics.
If you had asked me back in 1986 what I wanted to see from TFs, it would have easily been Cybertronian forms.
Lastly, when Soundwave talks in the comics, is it safe to assume we all hear his modulated voice?

Like this:
There's another way if you turn around the gun and use the sled landing skid in the hole in the back. Here's some pics I took and posted some time ago. This is a bit more secure, in my opinion:

To be honest Bodrock, while the designs of that line werent bad at all, the toys werent the best. They used a really weird plastic that felt light and porous, especially on Soundwave.
And I dont know if you came across Soundwave when you were reading MTMTE recently, but there is a great reason for that FOC Soundwave to be used as IDW Soundwave, they shared the same design

Quite a few others in the comis also use their video game designs, like Skywarp

And as far as properly scaled Soundwave toys go for a classics collection, that FOC Voyager is he best option we have when sticking to official offerings.

He's definitely the best when it comes to proper scale. I've had both Soundwaves and the Takara one feels a bit sturdier to me, plus the colors are absolutely incredible! He's dark and metallic and looks just like in the game.
As far as the seekers I honestly have no clue why we don't have a set in voyager size yet, that's the only size class I can think of where they haven't been made. I don't have a ton of seekers just for that reason (although I do have the FoC ones, those are fun). I wouldn't mind waiting a while so we don't get Starscream fatigue but I'd like him to match up with the rest of my collection.

I know your pain, Roadburn. Scale is something that confounds many of us collectors. I used FOC Voyager Soundwave as my "Classics" Soundwave for over a year, along with his minions. He scaled welled with United Voyager Megatron. I prefered the Hasbro version of this Soundwave for the extra "G1" paint apps that are absent on the Takara Tomy version. Takara may have had a more game accurate deco, but Hasbro's was a more "G1"/traditional color mask. Now, though, I have Titans Return Voyager Megatron and Leader Soundwave on my shelf. They just look so much better in terms of their original G1 silhouettes. Yes, Soundwave looks way too big compared to Megatron, the Constructicons, and ESPECIALLY the seekers, but he otherwise looks so good, I have to overlook the size difference. Speaking of the seekers, they are so long overdue for Classics Voyager molds that it's ridiculous. Every other size class for them has been covered, but voyager. Poor Starscream and company look like they were hit by a shrink ray next to the rest of my Decepticon lineup, lol.

That's completely fair! I don't do Classics so much as an IDW collection (Hence Tarn and MP Grimlock in there to go with the Scavengers). I don't really like the look of leader Soundwave or voyager Megs, so I'm going with MMC's Tyrantron when he comes out in a month or two - basically the same height as their Tarn and with a MTMTE style head sculpt. I liked Hasbro's FoC Soundwave alright too, but the colors looked so much more striking that he was the one I kept, accurate or not. I'd love some voyager Seekers, I think it would've been a better idea to make them voyager than leader but I guess they do go well with the leader Soundwave and Megatron. I'm hoping we get them with the next series - to be honest I'm ready for some figures without gimmicks again. I like a lot of what we've gotten in CW and TR (Bruticus and Superion are great and Brainstorm, Rewind and Chromedome are some of my new favorites) but I'd like some toys that just go from one form to another, no trying to be a third thing and no worrying about a headmaster loosening over the span of a week (Scourge. Never again).

I had no idea, Will! Besides MTMTE Vol.1 to 10, Lost Light and Optimus Prime, I have not read much else -- besides TFWIKI.
But that's cool IDW actually used the FoC designs!
As far as the Seekers go, I still have G1 Thundercracker....and picked up CW Skywarp & CW Starscream in the past 3 years.
No idea why it took so long to get the original 3.....wouldn't mind finally getting Dirge, Ramjet & Thrust. Too bad I missed out on the recent platinum seekers set. ;_;
And srsly - why no TR Seekers?!

If you want the CW leader Thundercracker to go with those two I have one I want to get rid of. PM me if you're interested, I won't want a ton for him and I'm pretty sure I still have all his accessories.

Yup; for the first part of RiD Hasbro had IDW use the FoC designs for just about everyone in the comic - even seekers that didn't appear in FoC used the seeker design from there, like Sunstorm and Acid Storm.
Shockwave looked like his FoC self, Sideswipe did, Bumblebee did... somehow Megatron escaped this fate.
And then some characters kept using those designs years later because they had no reason to change. Skywarp held onto his FoC design for the entirety of ex-RiD and only recently changed over to his original G1 design for the GI Joe comics. Ironhide also still has a slightly stylised version of the FoC body over in the Windblade books.
So yeah, FoC toys can work pretty damn well for an IDW display

Guys, lets see if we can't steer this convo back on topic, before a less subtle Mod shows up with his "hammer". Pretty please and thank you.
I spent last night clearing out a shelf that was being used for books and miscellanei to make room for TR stuff. Right now I barely have room to type this post with all these guys hanging around on my desk.
Anybody feel like this line is just huge, or is it just that they don't combine so they take up more space?

It does kinda feel like this line is huge, but it could also be that I've not passed on too many figures in this line, so I just have a crap ton. I mean, Mindwipe is the closest we've gotten to a stinker of a deluxe(he's still awesome) so I have 13 deluxes alone. Plus 5 voyagers, a leader, a bunch of legends and 12 Titan Masters. The line is just so cool that I want it all!!

I defintely feel its huge. I think a big part of it is that all the classes interact eith eachother so they feel more cohesive. in CW, only the voyagers and deluxes (and some legends) were together so the rest could either be ignored from buyers or werent thought of as part of the same collection. Plus the repaints in CW didnt have as muchan impact and were characters many of us had before. But now its all one, from Titan Masters to Fort Max and the latest wave of deluxes had 5 (5!!!!) deluxes that were all worth a pickup even though they were redecos

Wolfman Jake wrote:I know your pain, Roadburn.
Yeah, I initially skipped the CW Seekers when they came out because they felt cheap to me, but once I got the Leader Megatron and Soundwave, I had to go back and grab them for scale. It actually worked in my favor though because both Starscream and Skywarp were both marked down in the online shops so I got them for less.

I spent last night clearing out a shelf that was being used for books and miscellanei to make room for TR stuff. Right now I barely have room to type this post with all these guys hanging around on my desk.![]()
Anybody feel like this line is just huge, or is it just that they don't combine so they take up more space?
I think the biggest thing is the number of unique molds. Even the retools are so different that they are worth buying. People myself included passed on combiner wars stuff because of the excessive repaints, I've bought every figure in this line so far, thanks to the uniqueness of the molds. And the only ones i regret buying are sixshot and blurr. Two lame figures (one arguably) out of an entire line? Excellent!

You guys bring up some important details I didn't take into consideration about TR, the addition of a new size class in the TM packs, and the number of waves. 6 WAVES! In one year? That's is insane, and a new precedent. Although IIRC, CW had more than 4. Also the wave count on Deluxes! AND, more diversity in the Leader class!
I love that between CW and TR a newer/younger collector can build a "Classics" collection with the two lines alone, and us old fogies can enjoy new takes, with different play options on classic characters we may already have on or shelves. Plus with TR, we finally get charecters we've been pining for for years.
WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE!!!!!
I'm obnoxiously forgiving of these toys I love, but I can honestly say, with it's varying degrees of awesomeness, there isn't a single TR figure I hate so much I'd use it to clean my toilet.
