Besides, they actually do have classes to slot into - the CW Leader Megatron and Seekers could do with a Soundwave; and you can use this Blaster as an MP stand-in. Heck, you can use the Soundwave as an MP stand-in if the actual MP is too expensive for you.

But again, they're pretty good toys. And they're that size not just because of the whole G1 toy reference thing, but so they can have play-ability with the Legends cassettes. It's really quite fine.

Oh I'm not complaining about the size. Personally I have no problems with it, I just know it was a complaining point for others.

Then true collectors must have a lot of holes in their collections, ironically :P

I don't mind the Leader tape-deck mold honestly. I only have Blaster, not Soundwave (since I already have the MP and really, this TR mold is good but not something I'd want two of) but he's plenty of fun! Not necessarily the greatest representation of Blaster ever, if we're talking 'the perfect collection' I'd want a Voyager-scale one, but sometimes all you need is a fun toy that decently represents the character you want it to - and Blaster does those things in spades. (For the moment, I just have him headcanoned as a "gentle giant"-type bot, maybe even an ex-Wrecker or something, who wants to support the cause without fighting but can throw down if he needs to.)

Depends on what you're collecting!

But onto Blaster/Soundwave ... I held off because I hated the idea of non-Headmaster characters now becoming Titan Masters.

But then I was lucky enough to score Blaster on the 2nd hand market for a good price. And he's a bloody good figure. I have him sitting on the table in robot mode and he looks damn good. Even for a collector he's got a lot of playability simply because of all the fantastic poses you can put him into.

But it's a good mold...

:MAXIMAL:

No, it isn't. It belongs in the same smelting pit as the Ultimate and DOTM Leader Bumblebee molds.

I love T30 Leader Jetfire. I won't derail the thread with a review of it, do instead I'll say to read Will's list where I tGlk about it.

I'm not too strict when it comes to matters of scale....but I definitely understand why one might want all bots on display to scale appropriately.

I skipped out on TR Soundwave, thanks to the Asia MP reissue, but he's certainly a much cheaper alternative.

Personally, I loved TR Blaster!

Okay, so it's not a bad mold from a technical/playability standpoint. But I still don't like it because it's oversize for interacting with CHUG figures, save the also-oversize TR cassette molds (Scout class -which is what the so-called Legends class has now become- is a fine and proper size for CHUG Minibots (unlike Deluxe), but because of the cartoon + their working better with Voyagers that way I prefer true!Legends/Legion size for the tapes) and I think that other characters could have done a better job filling the need for more Leader class figs in Titans Return. A decent Leader Jetfire, retooling the T30 Ultra Magnus differently to create a Delta Magnus with a base mode, a Leader Sky Lynx maybe..

Way to quote the wrong one of my posts, Nemesis Maximo. Regardless, there is no way you can convince me that the T30 Jetfire mold is anything other than a needlessly-complex hot mess of faux-parts and fail.

I too, initially shat on the Broadside mold. But once I played with him, he's actually pretty good despite the derpy jet mode...
But now, I intend to ASSPODE him and customise him into Apeface.

It will be an interpretation of Apeface, not a pseudo-MP.

Some years ago, I did a G1 Character, DOUBLEDEALER . That time was if he'd appeared in the Cybertron line. So I think I'll be able to manage.

Bearing in mind that this is total speculation, I'd theorise that we'll see a proper Rodimus Prime in PotP - though maybe not the exact way you'd hope. My best guess would be a self-contained Voyager-sized figure, i.e. one whose trailer is part of the robot much like Titanium Rodimus or TR's very own Voyager Optimus. Personally I'd prefer it that way since it would allow for more mass to go to the robot without inflating the price for more-or-less a near-functionless hunk of plastic, so my bias might be affecting my judgement; but I think that's probably how it would go if/when we see a proper-sized Rodimus Prime.

(Though on the other hand, DOTM Jetwing Prime did basically the same thing with a significant increase in price caused by a near-non-transforming accessory, and it sold fairly well from what I can tell, so who knows.)

I think a Voyager size Rodimus with trailer (integrated to the figure or not) should work for scaling with the other 86 cast.

First off, I will say this right now: Integrated Trailer =/= Proper Rodimus Prime, in my book.

Second, you're seriously calling the trailer/camper shell that turns into a battle station "near-functionless" in the context of Titans Return/Power of the Primes, where we have small figures who can man the assorted stations of base modes and additional weapons that can be mounted at the additional ports there, and the gimmick of linking base modes to one another?

Ultra Mad wrote:I think a Voyager size Rodimus with trailer (integrated to the figure or not) should work for scaling with the other 86 cast.

I severely doubt it, because Rodimus Prime is supposed to be around the same height as Galvatron in robot mode. Being a Voyager with a separate trailer/camper shell would almost certainly get in the way of that even with Roddy being less bulky than Galvatron, and being a Voyager with an integrated camper shell would make his vehicle mode look dinky next to the other toys.
