I do. I have both Encore Fort Max and Generations Metroplex, and despite the former having less articulation than the latter, I vastly prefer the former for how much sturdier Fort Max is than Metroplex is top-heavy with his weak knees, and for how I like Fort Max's City Mode way more than Metroplex's.

Then again, I always just generally liked Fort Max more than Metroplex anyway.

Absolutely, it's the greatest G1 figure, possibly only bested by Brave Max due to the Pretender shell. It likes the songs of my people.

It just crossed my mind that Fort Max may have the treads on him (at least potentially) if they are folded downwards.

I don't think he does as something that large would be visible in the other mode too - but it is at least a slight possibility to consider.

But it does describe this as G1 version so heck who know maybe there is another version entirely with Tracks (again unlikely).

They may have decided putting tracks on him didn't make sense when this character is huge and Comic Fort Max is normal sized.

It does get me wondering though is this supposed to be a space ship in the "Transport mode" if it has one or is it not supposed to move at all and is just a Robot/Battlestation and hopefully a city.

I'd actually rather like him to have a spaceship mode if they wanted to give him one and then simply allow you to make the other two modes as well - since they always were pretty similar anyway with only a few changes to the towers and legs in the main being the difference between city & battle station on the original toy.

@WJ88 - good eye on that volume!

The margins on a huge toy like this definitely help tip the scales - they wouldn't produce it unless it hit some dollar minimum on their P&Ls.

Also, regarding the base mode: something to keep in mind is that the leader class figures that turn into play sets (like Blaster) are compatible with one another. They can link up to become one big play set. I wouldn't be surprised if those leaders can link up to Fort Max somehow to create a towering silhouette that invokes the G1 toy.

The retooling for that kind of playability and interaction would really make this toy worth owning, even more so than the retooling to change physical appearance. For me at least.

That's what I said earlier when you said that it might suffer from being a retool >:oP

Bet linking up all the cities together will look really nice ;)^
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

This toy looks amazing. Definitely a worthy successor to the original (which I owned from its release in 1987 until its reluctant sale on eBay in 2006).

Though I no longer collect the toys, I see this as *hopefully* an opportunity to correct a mistake that has gone on in the comics for far to long, that is, the size for Fort Max. Now I am glad that the altercation between Grimlock & FortMax in issue #46 did not really change anything But...one would think, sometime in the next few months, some major change is going to have to happen to get FortMax to be the Size of a Titan (i.e. Metroplex), as he should have been all along. Just curious how this will take place.

Not necessarily, the comics don't have to feature him in that capacity just as they never had cyclonus become a combiner or brought in rook. If it did happen I could see it happening like this:

Fort Max would become like Fortress in the headmaster cartoon series so in essence he could become a triple changer, robot, tank and giant head. Actually that's a good way to please everyone.

That's pretty much what I was thinking, but IDW has at other times made changes per instruction from Hasbro (Armada Starscream, forcing Drift and Windblade down everyone's throats etc...) Also...Wasn't Skylynx also recently destroyed or heavily damaged? Perhaps in anticipation of making him a combiner?

Drift was a completely IDW creation at first as it was Mccarthy's work in All Hail Megatron, so it was him pushing drift at first then hasbro made the toy for a fan favourite character.

As for sky lynx I wouldn't know for sure as I'm gar behind on that series as I've had problems getting it

Drift was actually a character first. Windblade not so much, but fair point.

As for Sky Lynx: Recently he has been heavily damaged but he is not confirmed dead (and most likely isn't given several others are shown to be alive). However, his combined mode could not possibly work in the fiction right now given Smokescreen and Hound are on the Lost Light (with Hound as an officer), Trailbreaker was on the Lost Light but is now deceased and Wheeljack is on Cybertron, so really it is just a case of a fun toy not in fiction (for now) :BOT:

Let's not restrict this speculation to just the comics, let's hope the toy also does this.

Then we get a new G1ish Fort Max and an IDW treaded up Max as well! YAY for rampant speculation!
