The same amount or maybe a little more but applied differently, as usual. There's more discussion of the Takara versions in the Legends thread, since that's the banner Takara's releasing them under.

Been wanting to jump in on this....
For starters... is there ANY conformation of whether Fort Max's legs split like Metroplex's (repair bays?)
Also all these base modes have me really wanting micro-masters to return. Kind of kicking myself for not getting all the old movie-verse... what were they... minicons.... legends???? I kinda wish they would do a re-release of some of those rebranded as micromasters.
As for to ZOMG they're head/titan masters now... meh... it's a play feature use, don't use it.
As for Astrotrain, does anyone else get the feeling there is gonna be an Omega Supreme (Energon) repaint with a yellow Ark (autobot shuttle) I'd be down for that.
Also wondering if we'll get an Obsidian from Highbrow
Not sure on the energon omega supreme redeco for Sentinel/AstroTrain. The colour scheme that os had in energon is really iconic for its split style (and as a fan of the Brave anime franchise, it's symmetrical docking transformation) but it's not one that would work in the shuttle mode as the legs would have to be the same colour to pull off the ark homage, which in turn would invalidate the energon homage as os legs were completely different colours.
Animated Omega Supreme on the other hand...that could work. Only problem being that he's not in the right style.
Not to worry though 2018 will give us a proper sized Omega Supreme*
*- this is what I believe based off titan class release patterns and the recent fan poll.

Also, yay, first post away from TFW!(a bit off topic so I apologize)
ZeroWolf wrote:I see we're back to this argument again. Changing characters into headmasters is only a big deal if you let it be one. For me, it's no bother folding these into my head canon. If you didn't like the look of them on basis of decos etc; then that's fair enough but to argue something as silly as this, it seems pointless.
Wolfman Jake wrote:I too was not keen on the traditionally "non-Headmaster" characters from G1 getting this new "Titammaster" gimmick for this line. I was going to pass on all such updateds, especially since we already have Classics versions of them, but DAMNIT, they look so GOOD (especially the Takara versions in most cases). That alone has softened me on the "Headmaster problem," but it made me realize that the whole issues really is just in the head, so to speak.
Awesome stuff follows, just go read the whole post

Takara's head-unit had a good chunk of paint on him, unless Botcon was just proto-types the heads looked pretty bland in robot mode (albeit they're so tiny it may not matter).
Is it confirmed they're smaller than the old power masters?

Because bad posing aside these look absolutely fine to me and I wouldn't have known they were Headmasters unless pointed out to me.
I don't have a counter-argument, but rather a solution.Noideaforaname wrote:Kurona wrote:Noideaforaname wrote:I wouldn't call big ol' block heads with limbs hanging out of the back "easy to ignore".

Counterpoint:

At best these look "not so bad" (I'll give you Blurr and Sentinel on that), but generally speaking I just don't see myself not seeing these things as Headmasters. Even the 'classic' Headmaster characters a rather wonky, but we forgive that because they've *always* been like that (even if we really only know them from MTMTE, but whatever).

Here is my counter:
And here is Takara's interpretation of the headmaster gimmick with Scourge:
By painting the headmaster's legs light blue, you get a nice contrast that defines his face and head better. I believe it was Zerowolf who pointed that out. Its also refernces the light blue found on the side of his head in the G1 cartoon.
So there is a way to make these work (for those who are bothered by it) and Takara has provided us with these options.

Kurona wrote:Makes me wonder what Takara are gonna do with Astrotrain; because admittedly due to the dome shape his head is the one most severely hurt by the Headmaster gimmick and the only one that I don't really like the look of because all the Headmaster body junk is shown jutting out above his head.

It is quite possible that Astrotrain will be skipped in favor of Sentinel Prime. It's not uncommon for TakaraTomy to skip retools or reassign them to a different line. Look at this list:
Legends Class
Gears
Windcharger
Huffer
Viper (released as Adventure Dogfight)
Warpath
Rodimus
Deluxe Class
All FoC Wreckers
Dreadwing
Goldfire (technically replaced by a mere redeco)
Crosscut
Jhiaxus
Nightbeat (released as Generations Goshooter)
Voyager Class
Doubledealer (released as Cloud Starscream)
Fortunately, I see him as the only figure nominated for skipping.
Kurona wrote:Thing is, since Takara's redecoes seem to be so cartoon-centered I kind of doubt they'd skip over someone so prominent as Astrotrain for Sentinel.

In that case, they could skip Sentinel just as easily: their vehicle modes are practically identical. I can see them choosing one for the main line, and release the other as an exclusive.
