No, that figure has its sword with it.Insurgent wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Wait, they're making inner robot Metalhawk without his Titanium Saber? They can't do that, that's his signature weapon!
That's like if they were to make Star Saber or G2 Laser Optimus or RiD Scourge/CR Black Convoy without their respective swords.
Isn't that happening in the other boxset?

That one gets a pass since the sword was only used in Metalhawk's Robot Mode, not his Suit Mode.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Insurgent wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Wait, they're making inner robot Metalhawk without his Titanium Saber? They can't do that, that's his signature weapon!

Yes, but the point is that the swords are iconic to those characters or certain incarnations, that omitting them would be blasphemous. Like here:

FANTASTIC! You know I love me some old Takara drawings. Super cool to see some old ideas get a new life.
BTW, Soundwaves big head in no way ruins that figure for me. Just looks awkward. Plus I have Repros on the way so I can finally be all...
Bots in da KLUB. Bots in da Klub. Bots be all like WUT. In da Klub, In da Klub.

Does he? Huh. Must have missed it in the pics.
william-james88 wrote:Deadput wrote:Anyways I think were all surprised that Black Shadow looks more interesting.
I think its all simply the colours and the head. Black Shadow (and even sixshot, I will give him that) have a really nice inegration of the face and helmet. The face really looks close to helmet as if it could be all one sculpted piece. Not Overlord, his face is very receeded to the point where the helmet looks big and doofier than it would be otherwise.
Also, while both have their G1 colours, he black and red scheme has aged very well, while the colours on Overlord look very retro. It works on the G1 toy because that is a retro toy, but it looks off when you add the modern articulation. This mold not being done for Black Shadow makes Black Shadow much more of an update and different from his G1 toy (like a good old Classics take), but with Overlord, it is just the G1 toy again. And at that point, then why not just rerelease the G1 toy? Everything would work, the retro colours would work with ther etro articulation and add to the charm fo it all. If your gonna go retro, why not go all the way? Or else you end up in this weird no mans land that Sixshot (and seemingly the clones) all live in.
And speaking of preffering the pretools over the intended molds. I actually preffer that Lazer Prime repint over Octane. Octane aint bad at all, but that Lazer Prime, holy ****!TF-fan kev777 wrote:o.supreme wrote:Also if someone can confirm...I assume what was shown at NYTF was not all of the remainder of the TR line? Or was all of wave 5 and 6 basically revealed?
I'm pretty sure most of wave 5 was revealed and none of wave 6. Wave 5 so far (might be missing a few):
TM Ramhorn
Legends Cosmos (re-issue) and Seaspray
Deluxe Windblade and Topspin
Voyager Blitzwing and Octone
Leader Overlord
Yup, we still have no clue what is in wave 6 (though the leader has been rumoured to be Deathsaurus).
As for wave 5, they still didnt show titan master Optimus and they didnt show Deluxe Misfire.

I use 'combine' loosely.

Just a recolored version of the original stock render, as per Hasbro's current MO.

Wheelie is so crazy-dynamic and inarguably the best official figure he's ever had, and even something as odd and clunky-looking as Gnaw can have plenty of character through posing capability! If these guys are any indication of how Legends are/will be, I'm really looking forward to acquiring Brawn, maybe even Roadburn if I'm feeling splurgey, and of course Seaspray - who looks at this point like he may even top them all!

If thats all that was being mentioned then no it would not be ok, but here they are also talking about an official figure, TR Hotrod, so its fine.

[Error 404 image too cool]
Brawn is highly recommended (read my anecdotal review0! Provided you can find one this side of ebay.

I am surprised to be reading this from you. You are usually a well informed guy. Or at least you research your stuff before posting. But this is just all misinformed.
The fanbase for Overlord and his iconic IDW presence is not from MTMTE (where he was only in a few issues). Instead, it dates from The Last Stand of the Wreckers which has been claimed as the best comic book Transformers story of all time (even in this list).
He plays the main antagonist and most IDW imagery you find online comes from there. This is the story that got him in the lexicon of US TF fans and it is a cemented classic. Just write "last stand of the wreckers" on a google search and see the list of suggestions on what to write after that. Overlord is there. In terms of iconography, there is no reason this should be seen as less important than say Swerve's IDW look or Chromedome's, two characters which Hasbro has given us IDW faces of. Simply said, Overlord is the main TF Antagonist of the most celebrated IDW TF story of all time, and it makes perfect sense to expect him in toy form if they already gave us toys based on lesser stories.

I'm only familiar with LSOTW by reputation. Every time I think about ponying up and reading it I get lost trying to figure out where it takes place and what I need to have read prior to understand it. I started IDW with Death of Optimus Prime when the Humble Bundle dropped around the start of Combiner Wars, and everything before that is a tangled mess that even the wiki can't help me navigate very easily. Looking it up.... it came out in 2010. Maybe it made Overlord noteworthy to more people but he was definitely popular in some circles before that. Believe it or not some people actually watched Masterforce, plus his reputation as a rare Japanese transformer (and the biggest Decepticon ever until CW Devastator) lent him some notoriety. His IDW design doesn't even appear to be a major departure from what we have here, just differently shaped shoulders, longer horns, more prominent lips, and blue chest doors. Would it be nice if he looked like that for fans of that iteration? Sure. But I don't think it's worth going from "must buy" to "maybe not" for those reasons. But I'm just a guy who sees cool toys first and adherence to particular media second, I guess.
Kurona wrote:though it is rather notable that LSOTW and MTMTE re-ignited Overlord's popularity, and Hasbro specifically said they were doing Phase-Sixers, implying some sort of IDW referencing - but it can be a real dealbreaker for many when Overlord's face become a huge part of the character's visual iconography in IDW.
.....
Even from a perspective of purely looking at how good the toy looks, surely Overlord's IDW face would have been far more interesting than his Masterforce face?

Some good points that I can agree with. A face with more personality than "staring off into the distance blankly" would go a long way. We don't have enough of those, period.
