But Alpha Trion was a lion before:Rated X wrote:I totally forgot about that colored picture. So I guess Alpha Trion is gonna be like the Sentinal Prime figure...a cheesy retool of a mold created for another character in which the retool gets released first. Im calling Lio Convoy as the character this mold was intended for. Im bet the spaceship mode was an afterthought and looks horrible.

And Alpha Trizer wasn't Alpha Trion. He was a grown-up Cheetor.
• Titan class Fortress Maximus – said to be very massive and very G1-accurate, city mode is very much like in the previous leaked photo, did not appear to feature the IDW-inspired tread backpack
• Most of the already-known TR toys in package, including the Deluxes and Chromedome’s head; packaging is said to be very similar to Combiner Wars, and Skullsmasher (Skullcruncher) seemed larger than the CW Deluxes

Obscure? The guy has had more screen time and dialogue than the vast majority of other characters in G1. He was in the show so much I was convinced there had to be a toy as a kid.
He's in (off the top of my head) 6 episodes and has heavy dialogue in all of them.
Plus, he made it into Transformers: Prime, so he's been on the TV screen (relatively) recently.
So, two thoughts:
(1) Will the Titanmaster component be named "A-3"? Or perhaps, "Micronus Prime"?
(2) Are we assuming this is Alpha Trion largely based on the color scheme? Someone earlier did point out that the back story with Nexus Prime and Onyx Prime may be an important point in the Titan Returns story arc, in which case, though it's unlikely that this is Onyx Prime, it could be that part of this is Onyx Prime? (I can't decide if that'd make me more or less inclined to get this figure.)

That's a bit disappointing but I heard a rumor that all the heads will be getting proper bodies and these titan masters give the fans a choice between comic and g1 heads.

Transmissions Podcast wrote:At first we didn't think so, but after comparing pics of Dead-End to what we've seen of Chromedome, this looks like it could be plausible. It's difficult to judge because the Chromedome images are not of a finished toy. But the arms & legs do look similar and transformation and vehicle modes look similar enough that it could be a retool. Chromedome's vehicle mode looks very much G1 and his robot mode is a mix of G1 and IDW.

I've noticed an inconsistency in this description:Most of the already-known TR toys in package, including the Deluxes and Chromedome’s head
Besides a blurry image of the head and the Transmissions Podcast (who stated that Chromedome was a full figure), we have received no confirmation thus far that Chromedome actually exists. And anyway, a TFW member asked the TP about the Chromedome/Dead End rumor, and they said this:Transmissions Podcast wrote:At first we didn't think so, but after comparing pics of Dead-End to what we've seen of Chromedome, this looks like it could be plausible. With the conflicting sources here, I am not sure who to trust.

Maybe our new Lord and Savior Crashbash was borrowing Chromedome's body to go do something important

Or Alpha Trion is the intended use which by the way when they plan retools and repaints they plan them at the same time as the first use of the mold so there is no intended use when all uses of the mold were planned at the same time only exception would probably be straight up repaints that show up a couple years later.
It's not the first time Alpha Trion had a beast mode you know.
How about you actually see an image of the figure instead of a low quality box art pic before saying its awful like you do every time.

You really gotta like the triple changing lion concept to glorify this figure. I flat out dont. Either make it G1 or make it Alpha Trizer. Dont try to do both. I have Botcon 2007 Alpha Trion and Botcon knights Alpha Trizer. I also own the glorious 3rd party transforming Alpha Trion so Im good with this character. But if I was a "Hasbro retail only" collector, I would be very disappointed with this new figure to represent the character in my CHUG collection.

Think of it more like Alpha Trion having both his G1 and Beast Machines altmodes together at once. Alpha Trizer was Cheetor so he doesn't count, but Alpha Trion had a prototype for an unproduced BotCon toy back in the early 2000s that never got made but would have used the Beast Machines Snarl mold.Rated X wrote:You really gotta like the triple changing lion concept to glorify this figure. Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

Also I still don't see why people are saying wolf when the ears are nothing like those of a wolf...though we perhaps will get a wolf in this line through a decepticon head master...
