Rumours suggest that this is alpha trion but nothing has been said about his titan master yet. Though we also haven't heard anything story wise about titan returns yet. Not even about a tie in with IDW

I actually don't know which I'd get (A3 or Lio Convoy) if that's true, I guess it just depends on how much I like the color or paint apps.

Outside of the wingtips on the shoulders, I don't see many hints of his third mode. I'm also just now noticing he lacks anything approximating his distinctive cape.

Obscure? The guy has had more screen time and dialogue than the vast majority of other characters in G1. He was in the show so much I was convinced there had to be a toy as a kid.

He's in (off the top of my head) 6 episodes and has heavy dialogue in all of them. :)

Plus, he made it into Transformers: Prime, so he's been on the TV screen (relatively) recently.

So, two thoughts:

(1) Will the Titanmaster component be named "A-3"? Or perhaps, "Micronus Prime"?

(2) Are we assuming this is Alpha Trion largely based on the color scheme? Someone earlier did point out that the back story with Nexus Prime and Onyx Prime may be an important point in the Titan Returns story arc, in which case, though it's unlikely that this is Onyx Prime, it could be that part of this is Onyx Prime? (I can't decide if that'd make me more or less inclined to get this figure.)

I don't care which character he is. He looks cool, so I'll get him. It's cool if he really is AT because he's a very rare charater but that doesn't affect my decision to buy him. Point! >:oP

Maybe he's just a Titan Master. Would be a missed chance but why not? Nightbeat is also a Titan Master now.

That's a bit disappointing but I heard a rumor that all the heads will be getting proper bodies and these titan masters give the fans a choice between comic and g1 heads.

While it would be neat for Micronus Prime to be A3's head, I just don't want it to happen. I'd prefer "A3" or something like that and make Micronus a different guy, like legends or actually have RiD make a minicon toy of him. :BOT:

In all fairness, Hasbro rehashing old ideas, particularly in the Generations line (which is basicallly dedicated to that), is not something I'd bet against.

I've noticed an inconsistency in this description:
Most of the already-known TR toys in package, including the Deluxes and Chromedome’s head

Besides a blurry image of the head and the Transmissions Podcast (who stated that Chromedome was a full figure), we have received no confirmation thus far that Chromedome actually exists. And anyway, a TFW member asked the TP about the Chromedome/Dead End rumor, and they said this:
Transmissions Podcast wrote:At first we didn't think so, but after comparing pics of Dead-End to what we've seen of Chromedome, this looks like it could be plausible. It's difficult to judge because the Chromedome images are not of a finished toy. But the arms & legs do look similar and transformation and vehicle modes look similar enough that it could be a retool. Chromedome's vehicle mode looks very much G1 and his robot mode is a mix of G1 and IDW.

With the conflicting sources here, I am not sure who to trust.

A lion Alpha Trion. Thought I'd never see that again. More than likely, this figure is going to be repainted and retooled into a Leo Prime, a Leobreaker, or a Snarl. If not by Hasbro, then Takara will do it. This is the new trend for Transformers today. >:oP

Or Alpha Trion is the intended use which by the way when they plan retools and repaints they plan them at the same time as the first use of the mold so there is no intended use when all uses of the mold were planned at the same time only exception would probably be straight up repaints that show up a couple years later.

It's not the first time Alpha Trion had a beast mode you know.

How about you actually see an image of the figure instead of a low quality box art pic before saying its awful like you do every time.

You really gotta like the triple changing lion concept to glorify this figure. I flat out dont. Either make it G1 or make it Alpha Trizer. Dont try to do both. I have Botcon 2007 Alpha Trion and Botcon knights Alpha Trizer. I also own the glorious 3rd party transforming Alpha Trion so Im good with this character. But if I was a "Hasbro retail only" collector, I would be very disappointed with this new figure to represent the character in my CHUG collection.

Think of it more like Alpha Trion having both his G1 and Beast Machines altmodes together at once. Alpha Trizer was Cheetor so he doesn't count, but Alpha Trion had a prototype for an unproduced BotCon toy back in the early 2000s that never got made but would have used the Beast Machines Snarl mold.

Image
Image

Though the toy didn't get released, Alpha Trion did get his lion form in the BotCon comics the toy would have been related to back then:

Image

So this new Titans Return toy is finally gonna give Alpha Trion's Beast Machines lion mode a toy of its own, even if it'll look more like an update rather than exactly the same.

Why do I have to like the concept I'm simply stating that your saying this figure is going to be crap before you even see it.

The only transformer toys I don't personally like were the beast war ones because their animal forms looked organic I have no problem when it's done like Ravage or the Predacons when they are metal animals.

You don't know about this figure anymore then I do I'm not judging this figure until you know we actually see it and not tiny and blurry concept art.

And please do not compare third party to Hasbro it just doesn't work.

Deadput...you don't like beast wars? The franchise that saved transformers?

Also I still don't see why people are saying wolf when the ears are nothing like those of a wolf...though we perhaps will get a wolf in this line through a decepticon head master...

The ears? Really? You should look up pictures of lions and wolfs >:oP
The snout screams wolf all over it. And if you compare to Thundertron, he looks like a cross between a wolf and a lion.

I don't like the toys I have no problem with the show I think the show is decent.

I just don't like Transformers that turn into an actual organic creature it's not just a beast wars thing but I'm using that toyline as an example.

Another example is the human looking Pretenders although guys like Bludgeon look good since thier not turning into humans.
