mind you....in saying that....i'm now wondering if you can now kinda pull off a sort of G1 city mode with him :-? maybe by leaving part of that leg section open

btw i was mucking about with Metroplex....trying to sort of get the legs to form towers(Fortress Maximus style) & i came across something else interesting....
20160324_210214.jpg

now doesn't that sort of look like Scorponok :-?

so maybe the Metroplex mold will once again be reused for Scorponok! it's just a thought ;)

Hmm interesting. I'd probably just get Fort Max though.

ZeroWolf wrote:Oh I know but they at least try to get the overall look, they may keep the torso but I think it will be new legs.

Maybe the legs will split, and parts of them will become the tail, and the other halves of the legs would become the sides on the scorpion mode? :-?

your right, the original wasn't, but this one's does(well....feet) YES! i know, it's a PE fig & not a Hasbro one, but it proves that engineering allows for legs(or in this case....feet) to form a tail(even though it doesn't look much like a tail) ;)

but i can still see.....like you said....the main body of Metroplex being used....albeit with heavy retool...for Scorponok

If Scorponok is made from Metroplex/Fort max I'll scream.

But not as much as if Trypticon is.

Honestly, the optimum situation if Scorpy is a retool is that he's made from Trypticon, somehow.

Just to put things in perspective. This is what Titans Return is calling a base mode for Fort Max:

When an actual city should look like this:

I find it kind of crazy how the G1 version actually has this new one beat in terms of transformation and playability. It's the only toy in titans return I can say that about since the rest have either improved transformations, extra playability or both.

G1 fort max also didn't have to do anything. The new one could look like that too if they gave up pretty much all articulation.

If it has so much articulation then why cant it even pull the same pose as G1. G1 can imitate this Titans Return alt mode but the new version can't imitate G1. Seems like the G1 can do a bit more :-?

Who says it can't? Unless I'm mistaken no one has it in hand yet so we don't know what the mold can and can't do. And you can't use Metroplex as a defining factor since the hips are different and you can't pull off the same poses.

As far as anybody can tell, the only articulation the G1 has that the TR one doesn't is the sideways knees. Let's be rational here.

Sideways knees are what allow the legs of G1 Fort Max to form the City Mode towers that TR Fort Max's City Mode seems to lack.

Who knows. People fan-moded CW Ultra M into a base mode. Anything's possible.

I recognize that, but to say that this makes the G1 mold somehow more articulated is a flat-out lie.

When did I or anyone say that the G1 had more articulation? I just meant to say that for a toy that has so much more articulation, its too bad that the TR version is lacking the articulation necessary to recreate the G1 mode. So saying that "G1 fort max also didn't have to do anything" is just as wrong.

TR Fort Max has more articulation than the G1 toy, but it doesnt have all the articulation of the G1 toy and far less of play value. Which is actually different from the other Titan Class toys which were all improved versions of their G1 toys with as much play value.

Fort max's lack of the ability to form even a vague approximation of the original city mode is partly down to the lack of the extra swivel you'd need in the knee to allow the knees to fold more - the same lack is detrimental lack in Metroplex's repair bay placement in his City mode too - so I hope a 3rd party makes both some new knees you don't even need to replace the whole part just a section of it is likely to work when attached to the existing remaining half part. all that is needed is the ability to rotate at the point they connect to the lower leg (where they currently just slide sideways).

The sad thing is that no additional pieces would have even been needed if they'd simply made the slider circular instead of square.

Another option might be to have a small extender that covers that square slider over gives him a tiny bit more height and adds the rotation that way.

I still think it's a shame that the legs didn't compact a bit more for a more refined rear section to the transport mode for Metroplex too.

Both toys have a pleasing robot mode but both toys also lack a lot of functionality in terms of play with Legion or Legends class toys compared to what they could have had - the original both still have the new toys beat in that regard (as does G1 Scorponok & G1 Trypticon too)

Plus, didn't G1 FM have chambers for the upper legs to fold into? I don't see them on Gen. Metroplex, so I'm pretty sure TR FM doesn't have them either.

I would call them more "gaps", but yeah, you can see them. Whats impressive is that while you may think that makes his leg hollow, he actually ends up having actual chambers on the outside like a prison and a hideaway atop some stairs:

But to me what makes Hasbro super cheap wth this release is how they couldnt bother to have ramps. Its not hard, look at the G1 toys, just fold them up. But no, lets have the cars just fall off when they reach the ledge of his arms and keep his hands visible.

I would say I hope the Takara one fixes it, but then I'd be too tempted to buy it. :BANG_HEAD: I can't spend 230 dollars on everything. I am kinda tempted to just get the old one, but then I wouldn't be very hip would I? :-P

Edit: Now that I look at the new one, it looks like, rather than trying to make ramps like the old one, they were trying to make runways.
