I knew about the legs, I pointed them out earlier, but you said we could see the lion head halves on the ship mode and I just wanted to point out that we dont. Or do we? Becasue I dont see the features of the lion head in the ship mode.

I'm not sure if anyone's pointed this out yet but I think I've figured out why the lion has a unicorn horn.
They're only there to be the spikes on his shoulder pads.

... seeing bots like Titanium Soundwave or even original Fort Max head (with too-short legs) bothers me a lot. Bots with too short legs are the worst.

I was really pleased to find they made the new Max head where part of the face folds into feet to extend his legs and correct his proportion. Nice touch.

The only characters I could see being made out of this mold are Vector Prime, and KINDA a Beast Wars 2 Optimus Primal. The two head halves on the arms don't really make sense for Optimus though, since BW II Primal had the head on ONE shoulder.

Thunderton and Liobreaker had the robot head on their chest and that didnt stop them from just turning them into that character.

I can safely say that the more and more of Alpha Trion, the less and less urge I have to pick him up.

Fair enough, please allow me to clarify: I saw Chefatron's video review and got a very good look at both alt modes and the ship mode loses me with the robot arms (and lion head halves though not fully visible in and of themselves) just sticking out on the sides. It's a very poor transformation that just doesn't work. I do wish it did work because I would love to have an Alpha Trion figure but for whatever reason this figure just doesn't work as a triple changer. Maybe I'd give the lion mode more credit if the cockpit was integrated into the body instead of sticking out on top like a bad ZOID design and there was proper beast mode articulation.

I agree with the idea fitting Alpha Trion, but I cannot overlook the terrible interfering crotch plate, poor cockpit integration in beast mode, and poor execution of space ship mode. I will readily admit sometimes one mode of a triple changer needs to be given some slack (like TR Astrotrain's strange Build Ressha train homage which I kind of like but would not if I had not seen and enjoyed Toqger), and I think the alt mode that could and should have worked well is space ship, but I can't give slack to both modes and a problem with the robot design. That's a negative hat trick in my book.

My guess is onyx prime (the beastformer prime) and if that's the case I'll pass. I have car robots/rid Megatron as onyx in my 13 primes collection.

It looks to me like Vector Prime is the primary intended retool as the titan master looks like Safeguard and the chest and crotch plate design screams Vector Prime from Transformers Cybertron. Plus he comes with that beautiful sword. I also expect a Lio Convoy / Leo Prime retool as well.

What I don't get are the horns that pop up alongside the head and how they work with Vector Prime or Lio Convoy. They do look cool but a bit sinister to me.

I just meant the notion of A3 being a purple lion started at Botcon and has crept its way out. As to whether that character is the G1 guy or some hybrid new character or whatever... I don't want to be in the middle of that debate. heh.

The link goes to the customization thread. It was actually pretty easy. Just disassemble Generations Nightbeat's chest and pop out the existing head (on a mushroom peg). The Titan Masters just sit in there unless some paper/card stock (or adhesive, I suppose) is used.

Not to mention that of the obscure post-cartoon characters that Marvel used and made popular, Carnivac is pretty up there with the likes of Bludgeon, Nightbeat and Thunderwing. Plus they're apparently fine with making Krok and Quake...

I'd be very happy with a Carnivac honestly.

On the topic of repaints for A3 I think the mold would look better as Thundertron but then again I could just get the original toy, and that one looks better to me. I wish the Botcon Alpha Trizer wasn't so expensive. That mold fits Alpha Trion as warrior much better in my eyes. It looks wise, regal, powerful, yet elegant. This new one just seems a little too barbaric, beserkerish, and clunky.

While true, I'd like to point out that some characters won't be seeing full fledged deluxe releases (ex. the rumored Repugnus Titan Master, a character who fully deserves a deluxe figure to go with Doublecross). Like, a Carnivac Titan Master figure, I could imagine is as a Skytread/Flywheels repaint.

I'm with you in full agreement, the slight trench coat look of the Thundertron mold does wonders for Alpha Trizer. This guy though...if they were doing a Viking/medieval theme of TF releases, I could see this as A3, but it's too barbaric for such an elderly transformer (Yeah, I know, look at Galvy...).

Here's hoping that he's retooled and repainted as either Thundertron, Lio Convoy, or Leobreaker (I liked his all gold look, sue me)

Yeah, I wouldn't want this Alpha Trion mold as Thundertron. I like the Prime mold quite well enough for that. I'm not sold on this look for A3, but knowing myself I'll probably pick it up anyway if I see it in stores.

Couldn't this be a younger Alpha Trion? It does look like he has a moustache and not a full on beard yet.
