But I think those botcon references make him Alpha Trion and make him the character this mold was meant for. Alpha Trion didnt have an alt mode in G1, but the botcon toys (from different companies throughout the years) made him a Lion and a Star Destroyer type spaceship, so this toy merges those two ideas. I wont say it doesnt do it well, but all I mean is that Alpha Trion fits these alt modes as an hmage better than any other character which would turn into either a ship or a lion.

Thunderton and Liobreaker had the robot head on their chest and that didnt stop them from just turning them into that character.

I knew about the legs, I pointed them out earlier, but you said we could see the lion head halves on the ship mode and I just wanted to point out that we dont. Or do we? Becasue I dont see the features of the lion head in the ship mode.

LE0KING wrote:gothsaurus wrote:yeah, it doesn't scream Alpha Trion to me at all. Wondering what the intended mold might be instead of A3. Maybe it's designed for one of the upcoming Predacons and/or Lio Convoy.
My guess is onyx prime (the beastformer prime) and if that's the case I'll pass. I have car robots/rid Megatron as onyx in my 13 primes collection.

This is cool. How'd you do it?
The link goes to the customization thread. It was actually pretty easy. Just disassemble Generations Nightbeat's chest and pop out the existing head (on a mushroom peg). The Titan Masters just sit in there unless some paper/card stock (or adhesive, I suppose) is used.
And thanks!

That WOULD be kinda cool.

But knowing Hasbro, they'll for something a little more obscure from '88-'89, like Pretender Beast Carnivac.

That seems more like a TFSS type thing though.

But Hasbro has now pulled some stuff out from some very scarce sources, such as Lione. That is a deep find homage, and Carnivac is far more known than Lione

I know people can be uncomfortable with going to companies outside HasTak for Transformers; but if you're fine with third parties Character keeps making some really great Octus toys.

SureShot18 wrote:On the topic of repaints for A3 I think the mold would look better as Thundertron but then again I could just get the original toy, and that one looks better to me. I wish the Botcon Alpha Trizer wasn't so expensive. That mold fits Alpha Trion as warrior much better in my eyes. It looks wise, regal, powerful, yet elegant. This new one just seems a little too barbaric, beserkerish, and clunky.
