Postman delivered the
Spike and Daniel in ExoSuits by Impossible Toys from TF Source this morning. Hadn't been expecting them for a while yet, Quick posting to the UK. That's 2 TF:TM specific things I wanted that TFSource have came through on where other online stores and ebay have been difficult to find. Impossible toys have done a nice job with the looks of these things, but the quality is a bit poo, as is the transformed mode. Kinda figured about the quality going in, and knew the alt mode was basic at best. Still, they look pretty cool playing about the legs of proper sized Transformers.
Then went to the Post Office to collect my 3 parcels.
First one was
Terradive, and
Shortround. Terradive is a pretty cool figure with good posability and nice detailing. His jet mode is nice and compact, and the transformation isn't difficult, but isn't too plain either. He's orange, and he has a BFT. The "T" stands for Trident! Imperious Rex! Shortround is alright. A kinda Seacon coloured hovercraft with big claws in robot mode. Only got this because I'd already won Terradive and no-one else was bidding, from same seller and it was only a quid. Mainly bought him for the fan made toilet mode, but he's decent enough as is.
2nd box was the
War For Cybertron Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, along with the
random movie Optimus and
Battle In Space Hot Rod that were in the same lot. I'd only wanted the WFC figures, and doubt I'll hold onto the movie Prime as is, but he's ok, even if the transformation is a pain in the bum. Hot Rod, I almost already have. The decal on his chest is a slightly different colour, and this one has a rub-sign instead of an Autobot symbol, but it's nothing new. Either custom fodder or I might resell. the WFC figures are actually from the Rage Over Cybertron box set, so they've got different paint. Bee has some paint scuffs (to indicate battle damage?) and a bunch of blue Cybertronian symbols on him...or prison ink, I'm not sure. Either way, he's a cool looking, complex toy and very enjoyable. It helps that IDW is using this model in their current comics too, as it makes it feel like proper Bee. All the red "glowy" details from the original toy, and game model are replaced with blue here, so no more rosey cheeks for the King Bee, which is brilliant! Prime himself is amazing. This one has a translucent chest, and shoulders, with yellow tattoos, and all the pink parts of the original release are yellow now, which is much more G-Wunny. It's an intense transformation that I'm going to admit to getting quite wrong despite having watched some video reviews of the thing before buying it. Both modes are look great, the vehicle holds together well, and is a solid hunk of plastic, and the robot is really well articulated with a bunch of options in posing his kibble.
Box 3 was the
WebDiver Gradion, and it's a fantastic beast. Huge big shiny and see through purple locomotive train with gold, silver, yellow and luminous green details. Transformation isn't difficult really, but it is very satisfying. It feels cool. Robot mode makes him feel even bigger, and he looks like a super-badass. A couple of fun gimmicks without even trying to figure out the built-in videogame as well, like the sword transforming into the gun, or the back piece becoming a shield, or the battle mask that folds up over his mouth as you pull the top of it down. Nicely posable, and everything is ratcheted so there's a lot of nice sturdy clicking noises when moving him and the paint details shine even more in robot mode. Very glad I got my hands on this toy.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
