Also, to make my post relevant, I managed to out-smart someone on Ebay in an auction this afternoon and won a Generations G1 Drift. He'll be here next week!

Nice catch there. I imagine he's going straight to the MTMTE shelf.

I'm interested in getting him eventually but something about him doesn't float my boat. I have the Adventure one from the two pack with Jazz and he works for now.

I wanted the legends one, but it was too much and I didn't need or want that Jazz. Plus, I really like the look of the original

I got something! I can participate in this thread again ... for at least a day then it'll be back to waiting an eternity ...
I need a raise.ahem, so ... this is something for the old timers to sit back and go "awwww yeah! G1!" and something educational for kids (I'm looking at you Hellscream, D-Max and Cobotron!)
100% complete Decepticon Pretender Iguanus!
And some other little knob head that the seller threw in for a freebie.

I know who he is, he was one of my favorite character designs in Stormbringer, and I saw the original toy in a book on all the G1 toys... I am pretty well versed in G1 toys
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

Hey look! A toy that predates me by almost a full decade!
I can appreciate that. Pretenders are pretty cool. Even brought back to the modern day thanks to that Botcon set! If only they would do more of them

Those huge backpacks on the tfcc ones look pretty horrid, I always thought that the point of Pretenders was that you didn't necessarily know they were a pretender, the way tfcc does it is almost like cheating

The goofiness off all of Transformerdom doesn't get any goofier than Pretenders, and I love them for it.

True, but at least they gave it a whirl. If they made an actual pretenders mainline toyline again, they may try harder at least.

That's awesome! I still have mine, though I think the belt is missing(probably in a tub of action figures in my mom's attic somewhere).
Hate to be a buzzkill, but it's *almost* complete. I don't see any stickers.

Though I wouldn't feel too bad because as a young lad I almost completely misapplied mine! haha

I'm just happy to get a Pretender with all his bits and bobs. Stickers are a thing for way down the track.
I should work out which Pretenders I still need to complete the line.

I just transformed Iguanus and something occurred to me.
Pretenders are the fore-fathers of Combiner Wars
"Whaaaaaat? Burn's off his rocker again! Clearly being on holidays and away from people has increased his anxiety levels and he's lost it!"
Yes well that may be partly true, BUT ... take a look at the inner robots. For the most part, they look and transform the same (arms fold over, legs fold up), the only thing that differentiates them is the accessories and that's what changes what they transform into.
Flash forward to Combiner Wars, you have your base structure, of which small things are changed to differentiate the characters.
Old idea given a modern make over.
Don't blame Pretenders for Alpha Bravo though. That's just one seriously **** up joke.
