So I finally got around to messing with this guy for a bit, and I'm a bit disappointed. For a $30 figure, he's too simple yet annoying to transform. He felt more like an oversized deluxe. I do like how the alt mode looks, has a kind of Star Wars vibe. When he's in robot mode, he will be displayed without the backpack. But I might keep him in jet mode, I kinda like it.

At my first store this morning (a walmart) I spied a case of transformers in the backroom. Just one. I got them to let me raid it so here is a haul:



I didn't plan on ever getting prowl unless my sons asked for him, but holy hell he has no battle damage!! I felt I had to support that.

My MP20+ Wheeljack arrived. It looks a lot better in hand than in photos. Doesn't feel as bland or stark on its own and the windows don't feel so bright blue since they're fairly small.

I didn't plan on ever getting prowl unless my sons asked for him, but holy hell he has no battle damage!! I felt I had to support that.

I’ve wanted these three for so long. I’ve waited and waited until they popped up complete, in great condition, and for prices that I was willing to pay. Just so happens that I found them all within a couple days of each other. I’m so ecstatic to finally have these guys in my collection. Or in Op Op’s case, back in my collection.

All the joints are great. The transmetal paint is also in great condition. A couple very minor chips here and there (the connector between Optimus’s legs, and the very tips of Megatrons two prominent fangs), but no scuffing, flaking or scratches.

THAT is a gorgeous haul, congrats! Dinobot II is so much fun!

Isn't it a great feeling when your patience for a figure finally pays off after waiting for so long? Especially if you find it just how you wanted it? And it's 3 times the satisfaction in this case! Congrats!

D-Max and Rodimus - Thanks, guys! Getting those three toys is huge for me. There were a couple times where I wanted to pull the trigger on one or more of them, but talked myself out of it because of the prices. I really am glad I waited. Totally worth it.

Dinobot II is an awesome little guy. I’m almost glad I didn’t have him as a kid, because he was more of a surprise this way. Optimal Optimus is way better than I remembered him being, and I loved him as a kid. He’s so huge and imposing. Transmetal Op is still my favorit primal, but he’s a tough one to beat. And while Megatron’s bot mode feels a little lack luster, I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by it. I bought him for that beast mode though. It’s stunning. So much shiney transmetal paint!!


Next big one on my list is Rampage. Just need to be patient again, and wait for a complete Rampage, in great condition, for a SANE price. Fingers crossed. OP and Megs cost me pretty much what a modern leader class costs, and they’re much bigger. Optimus was $60 with shipping, Megs was $55 with shipping, and Dinobot II was $32 (free shipping).

I feel you here, I'm watching out for Rampage myself. His OG toy, Inferno, and Quickstrike are the only ones I really need to lock down to finish the cast of the TV series, since MP is taking care of Megatron and Blackarachnia. Kind of a smaller hunt, I know there are some good prices for 2 of those pretty regularly, it's more about buying those guys when there's a lull in other planned releases.

Also, that skeleton/Frankenstein aesthetic on Dinobot II is so dang cool!

Decided to buy Dragonus out of curiosity in his back blaster.

It fits for 2018 Movie Legends Bumblebee but Bumblebee Movie LegendsOptimus's arms aren't tight enough to hold the triangular gun.
Also Prime Master Pretenders are 3mm too but not flexible enough to fit the gun, most likely because of less flexibility in arms that are fully closed.

Didnt expect to find all 4 deluxes at Walmart today, but wouldn’t ya know it? They were there. But still not many on the shelf. After I insta-bought these, there was only 1 of each left. I’m still on the lookout for the Leaders, also for SS. Yeah, I know I could just get them online. I might end up doing that. These are pretty awesome!

Hadn't picked up any of the Siege Deluxes hoping the price would come down at Walmart like Studio Series and Power of the Primes (and most lines for that matter) did, but that hasn't happened yet and I'm getting anxious so I picked up the last Deluxe left, Skytread. Both of my local Walmarts only got one case of Deluxe and he's just been hanging around. He's pretty good, the arms on the jet mode doesn't bother me at all. I really like the guns being connectable, the articulation and sculpt are great, and it feels like a single piece in bot mode. My only complaint is that the tank's top doesn't really tab into place like its supposed to, but it doesn't really hinder anything. Overall it's a fun figure and a great update.

There is a really easy fix that makes all the difference in the world for tank mode. All you have to do is shave down a piece of plastic on each leg to make everything fit like it is supposed to. There is a rib of plastic that interferes with the legs as they fold up. In the photo it is the horizontal piece just above the foot that hopefully you can see where I shaved it down. Makes everything fit perfectly.

I'm always hesitant to fix a figure by effectively breaking it. I'm fine with it not closing properly, it doesn't really hurt the figure and closing through friction is fine enough.

I contemplated doing the fix, but the next time I transformed it, I actually got it to all close up nicely. I think you really just have to fiddle with getting it all compressed together, but it does work.

I really needed to do the fix because the gun not going down enough was really pissing me off. And the fix ends up fixing that too.

For my purposes, he's been co-opted into Motormaster's crew. I'm still hopeful (perhaps over-optimistically so) I'll get my hands on a Unite Warriors Breakdown, so I'm not using CW Breakdown or Offroad for my Menasor, as I don't want two Breakdowns (and I like Prime Breakdown better), I don't want two of the same mold on one combiner (so I can't have UW Breakdown and Offroad), and I don't want all his limbs to be cars anyway (I know, blasphemous).

Plus, Drillhorn can fit in with the Stunticons on account of:
-having a land-based alt mode
-have a strong primary personality trait to add to the mess that is Menasor (overbearing stubbornness)
-Having a melee weapon to add to the street gang aesthetic in his power drill
-Wasn't there a tank in one of the Fast and Furious movies?

First up, Greenicron! He arrived Thursday from Amazon Japan but I didn't really get a chance to open him up until Sunday.
