Finally broke down and ordered the selects figures that I wanted and went to walmart and found G1 Astrotrain and a cool gundam. The selects are all great and I am glad I finally got them. As for G1 Astrotrain, he is terrible. As I get more and more of the G1 reissues I wonder how transformers even survived the 80s. He really can't do anything but stand there and then his transformation is basically flipping panels around. I would only recommend getting him at deep discount. I was hoping he would be better, hence why I picked up two, but was very let down. The gundam (action figure not model kit) was very cool too, for only $10.

Also got a lot of Lego on ebay, not TF but wanted to share it anyway.

I think that we've been spoiled in recent years with the newer lines, especially starting with Combiner Wars. The designs and engineering are much more advanced. Also, (if you were around in the 80s) you're older, so you look at the figures differently. If your kid version bought G1 Astrotrain, you probably wouldn't be as disappointed.

I don't think spoiled is quite the right word. I was around for G1, but always felt they were lacking. As a kid I had lower expectations due to limited experiences and a much healthier imagination. A car that turned into a robot was good enough for me.

Something I've noticed is how my play pattern has changed from then to now and the figures seemed to have followed. When I was a kid I played with cars that turned into robots, as an adult I play with robots that turn into cars. G1 alt modes were very strong and where fun to play with, but the robot modes were pretty janky compared to action figures. Modern figures seem to mostly be the exact opposite. Robot mode is a full blown action figure, but I've found the alt modes tend to not tab well enough for robust play and/or The don't roll very well (at least compared to G1).

It's all just a matter of perspective and opinion.

Picked up SIEGE Hound yesterday. He's well worth it, although i wish the ammo drum fit properly on the other side on his gun (as in if he was displayed as left handed.
But it's a minor gripe with all of the weapons he has.

If you like the mold and weapons I recommend Gen Selects Hot Shot. I really like him and the head sculpt is great.

Z3RO - Awesome haul of reissues! I managed to find a Soundwave at the end of November, but never got so much of a whiff of the cassettes unfortunately.

Nice little haul. It’s time for me to start catching up on the recent waves for SS and Siege. Or the final wave for Siege, as it is.

Walmart distribution is a real mystery. One of my two local stores clearanced them out and I was able to get a complete set for around $40, but the other store is still restocking them. I've seen Astrotrain at both stores.

Problem is, at least for my store, the space that the tapes are in is where Siege/Earthrise Micromasters and Battlemasters should be so I won't be finding Ratbat and Rumble there any time soon. [-(

That just appears to be a normal Walmart post-Christmas. One near me doesn't even bother with their toy section from January through March/April, basically just before Easter.

For a very short time on the first of the month Amazon had Cyberverse Ark Power Optimus Prime for only $20, I was able to snag one just before the price went back up. The new shipping boxes Amazon is using are pretty flimsy since they don't have flaps to double the thickness of the top and bottom so it got crushed a bit, but only his box was damaged, the figure and armor appear to be in good shape. On top of that since the box doesn't really seal completely they put him side one of their bags with adhesive flaps, usually used for liquids. But the bag was too small so they adhered the flap right to the figure box. Hope they don't use this method on more expensive collectibles! It isn't a great toy, but for something I'm just going to leave on the shelf the price is right.

Also picked up some of those wall crawlers or whatever they're called from Dollar Tree. First time I'd seen them there myself, they were on an end cap near the toy section. Got Hot Rod and Ratchet.
