Well, postal lockout starts Monday, and while I didn't get everything I was waiting for, I did get some gems and oddities. First up, some fruity KO Seekers!

Image

The quality is better than expected, but still pretty bad
They're neat. If I actually found them in a dollar store, I wouldn't hesitate. But in actuality they were 10 bucks a pop, but it's ok. I like Seekers.

Next is more KO's, Black Variants of the Japanese Dino Cassettes!

Image

All things considered, they're pretty good quality and they didn't break the bank. And as I suspected, Dile is my favorite, his engineering is even up to todays standards!

And last, UW Bruticus.

Image

I wish my PE add-ons had shown up before, but waddya gonna do. I have thoughts on this, but I have something in the works...

I got 3 separate hauls today.

First, I got the box set of Combiner wars G2 Menasor! I made a deal with a friend. I traded him 3 CW deluxes one CW voyager, plus I'll customise two of his CW voyagers and a deluxe to make some original combiners. This will be FUN!

Image

Second haul, I made a small trade with Will. I gave a Universe Dai Atlas for TAV-12 Dreadwing. Will hate it but I love that little guy, despite ALL hands and feet sticking out of it's ass in jet mode. Bonus scrap too for the Graveyard!

Image

And finally the :michaelbay: COMICCON :michaelbay: haul!

Inspired my Will's pile-o-crap, I got a Beast Machine thingamajing. Nice and original bot. "Only 20$CAN. Next is Animated Swindle! For some reason, that one is very hard to find. 25$CAN was a fair price. Lastly, I covered one from my friend's want list, CW First Aid. 25$ is way better than the online price.

Image

Finally, being able to be at Peter Cullen's Q&A panel was priceless!

It's hard to tell by peeping through the packaging, but his transformation looks very similar to that of the warrior fig. How close is it?

The "BP" Prime is fairly different than the warrior and I'll like to get Grimmy and Bee in that size class as well.

I dont own the warrior but I am told that while it is very similar, it isn't entirely the same transformation. It is a totally different mold, not a downsize. I love this toy and highly recomend him. 15$ sounds like a fair price.

It reuses the transformation for the most past (legs are slightly different), plus it doesn't have the elbow issue of the warrior (breaking ratchet tab) due to the different type of joint used.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

- Jelze Bunnycat =:3

Looking for:
- TR Furos (Hardhead's head) and Crashbash (lost him :()
- PotP Punch head
- TR Galvatron right arm (the gun one)
- CW Brake-Neck/UW Wildrider, CW Offroad
- TR Twinferno & Grotusque
- Greenlight, Lancer and PotP Elita-1
- Legacy Core Slug, Sludge & Snarl

Cool thanks, he is on the to get list, but you know - the struggle.

Final Comiccon day. With Will, we made a TF Optimus Prime exposé. That little "work" done, I went to hunt some more TF toys. Comiccon is NOT the place to get great deals. It is however, the place to happen uppon unexpected great things and skip over the shipping and import fees you had to pay if you had ordered them online.

So, I got some more Beast Machine love! With a double dose of Megatrons! The "cape" dragon is nice, but that head thing steal the show. Man, does that gimmicky TF is FUN! I also got CW Trailbreaker for my CW obsessed friend.

Image

As for Skylinx, only ONE Comiccon seller had it, the same that had First Aid and Trailbreaker. I never saw it in stores. Skylinx was 50$CAN, non negociable. So I.... Did NOT buy it. Instead, I left Comiccon at 4pm (everything close at 5pm) to try my luck with a Montreal TrU (I paid for the Montreal's weekend bus pass afterall). There was a lone Sky Linx there at only 15$CAN + taxes!!! Even though I find Skylinx butt-ugly in both vehicle and robot mode, I couldn't pass it up.

The result is that Sky Reign look PERFECT with an all Mirage team! So, my friend will have my CW Power Core Optimus Prime. I'll wait for the Repros to arrive, I'll apply them, then I'll sell it to him for cheap. So, BOTH of us will have some kick-ass combiners!

Image

This will be the LAST Combiner Wars figure I'll ever buy.

Yup! I couldn't just leave him there alone to fend for itself on the shelf now could I?

50/50 awesome and puzzling. Legs are cool and he has feet similar to the gen figure. He thinks he's part of the CW no elbow Devy team and he has an awful lot of black on his chest that nothing can be done about. I like him though, especially after inking in his head detail. He also has a couple clear cool blue swords that I have pegged to the wings of the Jackhammer.

A local guy was selling his kid's old Transformers for £35. Mostly Animated stuff I don't care for but also movie Jetfire and Mixmaster which I did want so bought the lot. I think most are missing parts (although there are a lot of loose parts to sort through anyways) but even after keeping the ones I want, selling off the rest even for spares should make my money back and then some.

Sorted out the majority of the figures. Leaving movie Jetfire & Mixmaster til tomorrow cos they are complicated and I am tired. There's a lot of complete and unbroken figures here. Mostly Animated but also a complete Cybertron Blaster too.
As much as I dislike the Animated aesthetic I will admit there were a few times when transforming these I thought a certain part was cleverly done. It's been nice to have a look at them. Still got a pile of random bits and pieces that don't seem to go anywhere. Some are part of one of the 2007 movie Voyager Ironhide versions for example, although I may just use those guns on my DotM Ironhide if compatible cos they're awesome. :)

Just noticed the Soul Edge from the Namco fighting games in present here too. Random as all heck! :O

Weapon: Double Barreled Multi-Purpose Launcher
Added Titan...
Hardhead
Scourge
Blurr
Galvatron...

Galvatron I immediately pulled the pin on the jet nose removing it, and dremmeled off the pop up faceplate, which I glued to Nuke's Galvy face.

He's no longer a jet, but his head has full range to turn now. And Nuke fits nicely in Glavys chest.

Because there arent many contenders. Which Grims are better than him? Theres the MP, the TAV 30 and... G1, maybe? The voyager from AOE is ok too but its slim pickings. And he himself is a fun toy. He has all the complexity of the warrior but in a smaller bot which makes him have a nice high parts count for his height. Plus they fix some of the transformation from the warrior and he no longer has the breakage problem. Also, unlike the warrior, he ends up in a nice scale with the smaller Legion bots and looks good next to the battle pack prime (who is a beast on the show). And lastly, the clear plastic weapons are perfectly fine. They give him an awesome homage to the AOE Grimlock when worn as wrmour and they connect to become a dino head which can plug into his arm for him to have some BW Megs action going. So all the pluses of the warrior, no downside and great accessories. I call that a winner.

Yes, there isnt much to the transformation, its just a robot under a jet with his arms legs and feet all there with no attempt to much transformation or covering, or even streamlining. The legs dont peg well either. Plus, he doesnt come with his giant cannon so his accessory cant be used offensively in jet mode. Also, those plastic wings will easily have stress marks when you deploy them.

So all that. Let me know what you think of him.

Can't say I like RID Grimlock myself. Too goofy for the badass warrior that I love Grimmy for. I was thinking about this stuff earlier when I got that large Animated lot and TFA Grimlock was amongst those. Fun dino mode but bad robot mode. My faves are still WfC Grimlock (which has flaws which bugged me at first but I'm used to a lot of it especially after attaching the excellent Iron Factory kit to it to fill in the t-rex chest and add G1-esque 'wings' to the robot) which has become 'my' G1 Grimlock (I wish there was a replacement for the dino head though as I find it too flat and the eyes not visible from the front) and I also love AoE Voyager Grimlock who's vastly different to the usual Grims yet still rings true to me as that powerful fighter type and looks great in both modes. I still have a fondness for the G1 toy which is why the Masterpiece is still the only MP figure I truly like cos it actually takes on that detailed design (I hate the simplified cartoon Grimlock t-rex) and improves on it... if there was a much cheaper version I'd buy it. I just don't like spending loads of money on toys that can easily break and waste all that cash.
I have anxiety, depression and aspergers syndrome so my behaviour can be erratic. I don't mean offense to anyone. Just very picky about my Transformers collecting. You're all cool! :)

Masterpiece Ratchet.
And a Tenor Sax stand, though I'm about ready to give up learning that one. Plus it's not even relevant to the thread, unless you take into account it also transforms into a Alto Sax stand.
