You might be the first Seibertronian to get his Leader Magnus! How do you like him? Is he as great as he looks?

What I did in Laval once was print out what I wanted from the tru site with the SKN number and bring it to them and ask them if they had it in the back.

Mini review:

Just some thoughts on Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus to those who might be interested....

1. His front panel detaches easily from the front. It still locks back into place though.
2. His shoulders are mistransformed out of the box, you have to push up until you hear a soft click to lock the shoulders.
3, His ratchets on his hips are very similar to CW Optimus as they only have a limited range of motion. Replacement ratchets would help here.
4. His cab does not detach from the trailer.
5. His feet are also mistransformed. Also no ankle tilts.
6. Minimus is pretty much required to sit inside Magnus in bot mode as he fills out the hollow area in the neck.
7. His elbows and knees are very soft ratchet joints.
8. Head only swivels from side to side. Can't look up unless you pop of UM's head and MA becomes visible.
9. He is very hollow when seen from the back. I guess some 3P would like to make fillers for the back of this legs and arms,
10. No wrist articulation.
11. His hands cannot hold his guns securely. They always fall off. I guess UM has butterfingers or something.

For me, it's around 7/10. The figure looks good on a shelf, but with soft ratchets and overall floppyness when transforming him, the build quality is not up to par especially when compared to LC Megatron / Armada Megatron.

It sucks he has some QC issues, but if you're giving him a 7/10 you must still like him. And that's awesome ;)^

Hey Will! Look what I found at WalMart while grocery shopping!

Image

They had the deluxes (only Breakdown and AirRaid) but passed in favor of finding them in TRU with my rainchecks. I made the exception with MM here cause of the FANTASTIC Wave 1 voyager overstocking that all my TRU's are doing.

Nice grabs everyone! Turns out my Toys R Us finally got in Wave 1 of Combiner Wars this week, but I've already ordered everything online (except G1 Megatron which they didn't have >.>). I did manage to get myself a nice little haul today, however.

To continue the Combiner Wars theme, I found these two guys at a Target in my area.

Image

The weird thing is, they were the only Combine Wars stuff on the shelves there besides a few Silverbolts and single, solitary Sky Dive. This is actually the only stuff I've seen past Wave 1 in my area as well (except for Huffer and Blackjack which I saw once and never again).

Next, Nature lies, they're robots in disguise!

Image

I had been planning on buying Generations Rhinox from Amazon later this week, but a trip to a Walmart that I don't normally go to saved me the trouble of waiting. I also decided to get Rattrap as well, to have a few more Beast Wars characters.

I still think Beast Wars (both the cartoon and toyline) are in desperate need of a remake. The cartoon especially, that CGI does not hold up well compared to today's stuff. Writing is still top notch though.

Finally, I've only ever heard really good things about the Cosmos, so when I saw him at another Walmart, I had to grab him.

Image

A lady I was in line with saw the Transformers toys I was holding and told me about a comic store her Dad owned. She said that he has retro toys there, so who knows, might have something else for you guys tomorrow. :P

So I've heard. It's why I chose him over both Skrapnel and Swerve while I was there.

YES!!!!!!!! You are gonna love this guy. I really hope I dont overhype him but that truck mode really impressed me. I was so surprised that you could get such a good robot from a simple transformation. He's really awesome. And I hope those deluxes come to your toysrus. The rainchecks are almost a 7$ difference, so its worth the wait (I got both mine today for 30$ tax included).

You will have so much fun with this little guy. Easily the best legends figure we've gotten and the true bearer of the Scout Class.

Oh by the way CS, if you're looking for the other BW Generations figure you should consider BBTS. They got him on sale ;)

Also, while you're there you should REALLY consider getting Generations Springer too.

Hyped maybe, but I did it to myself. I hold a soft spot for MM since he was one of the only two Scramble City combiner torso's I had as a kid. But its wonderful to report that he lives up to my hopes and dreams!

Truck is great (and I didn't realize the mold difference ie: windvane). Bot mode is great, and there's no doubt in my mind that it was meant for MM all along and not Prime). And that torso... whats there to complain about? The Menasor head is awesome, and a slight mis-transformation fixes all his proportion issues!

CS - BBTS has a bunch of good stuff from last year. I think I saw Leader Jet Fire for $34.99.

All right Jaki, you and Logan both have MM's legs doin' that. I've tried it and I can't see what y'all are doing with the thigh. Would either of you mind "lifting his skirt" so I can see what's going on under there.

Thanks.

Wow, really weird. I didn't get a single email that this thread was updated. Thanks for all the info and suggestions! I'll probably pick up the rest of the Beast War characters sometime (I think all I'm missing is Sky Bite and Waspinator) as well as Swerve and Skrapnel.

I actually was going to grab Skrapnel until I bumped into Cosmos. I really enjoy CW Bombshell and I was hoping Skrapnel would be just as good. But with all the hype I've heard about Cosmos, I had to grab him. Holy cow, he is a lot of fun! That transformation is really simple but a blast to do! The head can be a little annoying though, especially when you don't have any fingernails to grab a hold of it.

Skrapnel is nice, but not the greatest. Swerve is simple great fun in a GoBots kind of way. Personally, I don't have fun transforming CosMos, but he IS sweet-ass looking in both modes.

If you don't mind scale, try getting the Scout seeker molds (like CW legend Thundercracker) and the Optimus and Megatron molds. Those last two are now available as Warpath and Huffer. Both being minibots, the scale issue is moot. Both mini tank and truck are great, but the seeker is FANTASTIC. I can't recomment it enough.

Avoid the CW Windcharger / Gen scout Tailgate molds like the plague. It's a very poopy mold with a decent vehicle mode, but a very, very dissapointing robot mode. Having so much kibbly bits hanging off a scout body is unforgivable. Buy it only on clearance out of curiosity. I got mine at 5$ and I still feel ripped-off.

Well, happy hunting!

Oh, and try to find either Generations Voyager Sandstorm or Springer. These triple changers are PURE SEX! :x

I don't like that mistransformation because you don't get the fun new combiner detail with the black panels and it looks like it lacks detail. Instead I just straighten out his torso mode legs to give less of a gap and it gives a similar elongated and slimmer effect without losing any detail:
