Yesterday, I went toy hunting with my friend, my sis's boyfriend.
So, I got myself a pretty modest haul:
The spare green rescue bot will be for my sealed collection. Those were found at Dollarama, a "dollar store". Only 3$CAN each instead of 7! Those are pretty neat little guys. The best one is the red. The green one is surprisignly hard to transform. You have to FORCE it and it can become a mouse trap for kids fingers. Tsk tsk tsk, Hasbro.
Bisk is FANTASTIC! Amazing looking in both modes and the transformation is fun and clever.
Transmetal Waspinator was only 5$CAN but was missing two forelegs and two wings. The forlegs I could substitute with HFTD Insecticon's, but the missing wings will be hard to replace because of the female ball joints sockets.
I was really lucky to find that minicon in a 2$CAN Village des Valleur baggie. I gave back the random garbage that was in the baggie and I kept this one. Dunno who that is nor if it came with anyone originally. But MAN, is that minicon GOOD! Muscle car, great bot mode, and a simple but fun transformation. I scored good with this one.
Still, the toy hunting wasn't really for me. My friend is a Combiner Wars fanboy. I made a few customs for him already (see my sig below) and because I corrupt him, he finally decided to have a FLYING combiner. He care about scale and logical vehicle modes. So the jets, with the robot just hanging under the vehicle is out of the question. He do appreciate the helicopters. But what to do when CW is gone from the shelves and only the sets remain? Easy. GO NUTS!
So below, this is my friend's haul:
TWO victorion sets (100$CAN each at TrU) and we lucked out on a brand new Onslaught for 20$CAN (no tax) at a flea market.
He now have a "grounded" Victorion, made with the 4 cars, the bike, and the firetruck:
He don't give a crap about collectability. The combiner must "make sense" and this one does.
So, what about the other Victorion? And the Onslaught?
It will be a ALL HELICOPTER combiner! The 4 helis will just be repainted. The main body will be Onslaught with most parts swapped from the Victorion. Then, some serious modding will be done to turn that torso into an big-ass helicopter. Finding a scrap DOTM Skyhammer would be perfect.
Also, the spare bike will be repainted to be a chest armor for his all white Optimus Maximus.
My crazy friend also spend over 60$CAN in paints and supplies for the project. A helicopter, transformers or not, still need to be bought for the remaining parts.
