Ok, that Deluxe Energon Optimus Prime figure in my charity shop haul up in that photo there. Is Energon Prime the most crappily designed Optimus Prime?

He is really made for his super modes. And I mean plural, since he looks perfectly fine in his super mode with his drones and looks hella awesome combined to WingSabre in both of those possible formations.

So his design as an individual figure isnt great but thats because he wasnt designed to just be an individual figure.

This is the Deluxe figure who doesn't have the drones but combines with regular Energon figures top and bottom but that feature never looked good to me at all. And looking at the full size Prime with drones and Wingsaber I can't say I think much of those either. Energon was definitely not a high point of the franchise for me at all (though I will say Bulkhead/Sprung was the best Springer-like figure for his time and some of the scouts like Arcee and Cruellock were kinda fun)

Today was a GREAT day.

I had to skip work for the afternoon because of a small medical check-up. So, why not toy hunt on the side?

So first, my TrU have voyager Megs and Hound AT LAST. Got them both with a raincheck. Guess the cashier didn't really cared about what he was doing because he scored me the reduced price of a voyager... and a deluxe! Total, 60.30$CAN WITH taxes! Too bad I couldn't Will'd a Hasbro coupon on top of that.



Hound is good, but figuring the arms was a bit of a mind-bender. Nice but not incredible.

Obviously, the real winner is Megatron. Man, that figure is pure GENIUS! I would have paid the full 40$CAN plus taxes without regrets for him.



Then I went to my local geek store to conclude a trade. I had to spend at least some cash so I bought G1 Brawl.
22$CAN with taxes is NOT a deal, but I was glad to have the very PRIMITIVE original rejoin his brothers.



As for the trade, I'll have to mention what I gave away to the store:

--Power Rangers Supercharge Red T-Rex Megazord, two bikes, and the Red Ranger
--Generations Scoop, Swerve & minicon, Tailgate & minicon & G1 self, Jiaxus, and CW scout Rodimus.
--Platinum Cyclonus Armada
--Super Sentai Dekaranger megazord, "mini-hero-masher" version
--Super Gobots Future Machine and TF GO! Go Prime

All of the above was obtained on clearance or very cheap.

So, what did I got for all this?

It's weird.

Ugly.

Stupidly rare.

And insanely expensive 100% complete.

ALL the ACTION MASTERS ELITES!
WINDMILL, OMEGA SPREEM, DOUBLE PUNCH and TURBO MASTER!



Those were Europe and Australia exclusives back in the day and were thus produced possibly in limited quantities. They all come with parts that detach and get lost so finding one 100% complete is a miracle. Right now on Ebay, Only Omega Spreem and Double Punch can be found 100% complete and each go for over 150$US! My seller found no value in them and even though he priced them at 80$CAN each, he was glad to get rid of them via trade. Sure, the Actions Masters are not popular, but I find them as hidden gems.

They all have a mechanical action feature that activate with a button. Windmill's and Omega Spreem's work perfectly, Double Punch's is iffy, and Turbo Master's need repair. Their colors are very early 1990-ish and they transform more via yoga and partforming than actual transformation. Does that plane remind you of anyone?



I'm feeling a bit guilty because this time, I think I barely gave anything for such rarities. Still, I'm glad with my silly Action Masters display so far.

I've still to get choose a Hound but yes TLK Voyager Megatron is awesome.

And damn I needed a sunglasses warning before scrolling down to the Action Masters. Fun set.

I don't think those "Elite" guys saw much of a release in Australia, if they did, it must have been very limited because they were released before the Turbomasters, Predators, and a host of other figures that have flooded E-Bay AU over the years.

Only based on the TF Wiki article. Their release in Australia must have been like a drop of water in a hot pan it seem. So they're more of an European thing. And even then, it was the very end of G1 in Europe so yeah. That was quite a lucky find at my geek store.

Oh and I made a deal with my local seller. He'll accept pretty much everything for the rest of his Action Masters and he'll give me a 1:1 value. Meaning if I bring something that he'll sell for 30$, he'll give me the full 30$ in Action Masters!

So in the end, I'll have pretty much ALL the Action Masters, a COMPLETE (?) collection and he'll have something the normal, not insane customer want to buy!

Action Masters are literally the last in line for my G1 collection.

Yeah i remember seeing themon the shelves here in England back then but I'd 'grown out' of toys at the time and the lack of transforming didn't exactly hook me. Also the 'cartoon accurate' thing they were going with on some of them doesn't work if like me you disliked how simple the cartoon models looked compared to their toys anyways.


But now looking back at them I can see the collectors appeal and some of those funky colour schemes are kinda nice.

Best price I could find. Mandarake for (I think?) less than 300 CAD shipped. It's less than half of what eBayers ask

Just picked up TRs Kup, Perceptor, Krok and Quake at Target for $50. They also had Topspin but I passed. I was looking for TR and TLK leaders but no luck.
