I guess that is why I like the G.I. Joe club because they offer you two different ways to join the club one is free which means you don't get the figure or newsletter but still get to be able to buy stuff at the club rate, and you get access to the archived newsletters so you also get the info include in the newsletter.

GI Joes and their vehicles also cost far, far less than Transformers. Not to mention that the GI Joe line is made up mostly of vehicles used 3-6 times over the past 20 years and a wide variety of essentially interchangable parts.

And in my eyes, spending money on the mere option of spending more money to get a product is ridiculous.
That's short sighted.
For your fee you get the 6 newsletters and comics (which are actually quite good now that the club is in gear), you get the toy, and your BotCon entry fee is reduced by essentially what your membership fee was.
On top of that you get the opportunity to buy the exclusives at a much reduced price. (Non-members can buy if they want, but might as well join, get the discount then buy. You save money that way.)
Where the club fails is in its dealings with non-US residents.
That aside, TF collecting is not a hobby where you're going to get any sympathy about purchase power. Everything we buy is expensive. Pay to Play. It's Rule #1. ( You can look that up on the site. Read my Article "Living and Dying in Wal-Mart". If you don't know, you better ask somebody.)

Club has a lot of benefits... I did not know, until I became one (I have to admitted I am addicted to Transformers), specially to exclusives/Botcon, I have safe a lot of money that I could have -unnecessary- spend otherwise; it works as long as you are taking advantage of the benefits, If are just to keep some membership of some how related to transformers, my personal opinion, think twice; I just love it!...

2007 was my first year and I joined to get the Astrotrain, Airrazor, Breakaway, and 2007 Botcon sets. I was very pleased overall and the comic is actually quite good, will be sad to see Classicsverse go though.
I will renew for 2008 based on what I've seen down the pipe so far.

My question is, what about the people who don't really care for the exclusives? Most mag subscriptions cost, like $15 to $20, but $40 is a little much for not even a monthly issue. Sure you save money, but not everyone can go to botcon, like myself unless it's in Chicago, or Indiapolis where my sister works. They should have a subscription at the $20 level.

so yeah... the benefits would be close to zero for me. Especially since I don't buy repaints.

I'm lost which topic is this, is it reason to join the transformers collectors club or the first image of Classics/Universe onslaught has been released. I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of the new classics when is the mag that's showing them out.
