I blame plastic limits combined with neither having a signature gun.Tuned Agent wrote:He does share one thing with Wheeljack though, a lack of decent weapons.

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

Nope, I don't see the whole retool thing either like Tuned. Not a single part in common. Look for yourselves.

He's too big! Cliff is Scout class size.

With Apeface, the shield/rear wing is fragile clear plastic, and the fit for the Jet mode is snug. Plus, with the way it wraps around the cockpit, its next to impossible to rock it loose, and more than a few reports have come in on that peg breaking off in Apeface's back

You had already said it was painted clear plastic.Emerje wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Ah, I see. Good to know. It's clear plastic painted pink. No idea why they would choose to do it that way. First the peg is super long and the clear plastic is brittle so it just snaps without warning, you can't even feel it snap when it happens. They should have run a pin through it like they occasionally do on high stress parts.

I have to wonder if maybe they thought that lengthening the peg would make it less likely to break. If so, whoops!Emerje wrote:The other problem is the peg isn't even necessary for alt modes since it's also secured by going over the cockpit (the real one for the Titan Master in the back), the peg is only necessary for using as a shield and could have been half as long.

Mine broke, but there's enough peg left to still function as a shield and honestly looks better closer to the arm.

Caelus wrote:My wife pointed out something interesting about the prehistoric Predacons. I said that everyone was complaining because transforming for them mostly consisted of them just standing up-right. She essentially said, 'So? That's what our ancestors did.'
Another, more subtle case of it is Thrust and Ramjet being illustrated based on the 1985 toys.Sabrblade wrote:With that Trailbreaker definitely not being the Thrilling 30-esque one seen in the Earthrise packaging, I guess we can consider the T30 one showing up on said packaging to be a return of the wonderfully bizarre phenomenon that is the "Archive Oops".
ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:You had already said it was painted clear plastic.I was asking for confirmation that it was hard clear plastic rather than soft clear plastic. As for why they did it that way, maybe they wanted a rear viewport. Maybe it was easier to put that part on the clear plastic sprue rather than the pink plastic sprue.

Sunstreaker on the other hand... The CW version has completely the wrong robot mode because it's a headswap recolor of Breakdown, and the Universe toy really is a mold intended as Sideswipe and redecoed as Sunstreaker.

I think 'Swipe and Alert wore it better because the transformation layout is more along their lines. But do you know who think would frankly wear it better than any of them (especially with some retooling to the arms to mount the doors in a different way)?Tuned Agent wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:*snip*

Ironically, I've always thought Sunstreaker wore the Universe mold better than Sideswipe.

Sunny seems to be a very extensive retool of Wheeljack. Also, am I the only person who thinks Runamuck is a reworking of Cliffjumper?![]()
ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I think there might be some shared inner parts, but it's a Blurr-Chromedome situation if so
I think it's still possible they share parts. I mean, look at Titans Return Chromedome and Blurr. Or Scourge and Highbrow. The hips and the inner shoulders could be recycled.Randomhero wrote:Tigerhawk7109 wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:*compares Sunstreaker to Wheeljack, and even to Runamuck*

He’s not. Runamucks torso(fake car hood chest) and up is the bottom of his car. You rotate him by the waist and fold athe back of the car to the back. His arms are the side of the car. And Sunstreake is not a retool of wheeljack. His arms fold similar but they’re not the same, Sunstreake doesn’t have wheels behind his forearms. Theyre behind the biceps.

What about the hips? Looking at photos, those might be the same. And there's no telling with the inner shoulder.Randomhero wrote:ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:I think it's still possible they share parts. I mean, look at Titans Return Chromedome and Blurr. Or Scourge and Highbrow.
You can see those shared parts on those figures. Thighs hands and knees for both those examples. On this? You can see there’s no shared parts. They’re two different figures with similar engineering. I thought there was in the crotch and thighs but I have wheeljack in front of me and I’m looking at the sunstreaker photos, there’s nothing there.

I checked both. They are different, he’s a new mold. Similar engineering in a couple spots but he’s a brand new mold.
