I'm hoping for a Cordon repaint myself, though Spin Out wouldn't go amiss.

One for each year of the Movieverse's decade strong tenure. Here's to a few more explosive years!

Well of course not. Auto makers more strictly enforce licensing the likeness of their cars these days. Or are you talking about the cartoon-based arms? Other than that Sideswipe's G1 to the point of having molded detail based on the original toy's stickers.AutobotAlvaron wrote:I like him, but I wish I could love him. Something is OFF about this Sunstreaker. He's not as G1 as I'd hope, he's not as G1 as Siege Sideswipe was, & that was not strictly G1 either.
Oh yeah? He's got leg detail based on both the G1 toy's actual leg detail and the undercarriage piece, he's got lights and hood lines on top of his feet, he's got ribbed oblongs for forearms (only missing the dome details) he's got the squarish boosters on the shoulders. he's got the black detail on the chest from the Lamborghini roof... Oh, and of course, let's not forget that he has feet made from the nose of the car and arms made from the aft as per the G1 design. Which is more than the Universe toy can say. And he's not Breakdown's body doing Sunstreaker cosplay.AutobotAlvaron wrote:There aren't enough call-backs to the G1 toy in bot-mode detail & color-wise,
That's true, but 1. the red shoulders only existed in the first place because of Hasbro being too cheap and lazy to change the stickers when they changed the toy from red to yellow and 2. The red shoulders would look even worse in car mode on this guy than they do on the original. Seriously, think about it.AutobotAlvaron wrote:there's no red shoulders,
As is that of most Deluxe-class characters, because of plastic austerity. That SIEGE Mirage came with his complete weapon set is something of a miracle, and a show of plastic savings elsewhere in the design.AutobotAlvaron wrote:his weaponry is inadequate,
1. You were delusional if you expected chrome; at most it would have been silver-painted. Chrome is a luxury we haven't gotten on regular releases in a long time, especially in the US. And honestly, the stuff HasTak use to metallize toy parts is highly vulnerable to human skin oil anyway and they've never sprung for protective finish...AutobotAlvaron wrote:and...oh there it is! His car-mode has NO CHROME SPOILER, THAT'S IT!!
The license is indeed strictly for the MP. And I'm fine with the regular line using approximated car modes instead of licensed... After all, if they were licensed the prices would probably go up further.AutobotAlvaron wrote:Your points are all sound (I knew about the red vestigial diaclone sticker), & I realize that my expectations don't fit what this toy
is (half-hearted & insufficient weaponry should be expected), but I want what I like, & I felt like expressing it. I'll have to get the
Masterpiece to check off (most of) the things I want in a Sunstreaker, but with Siege Sideswipe, I felt such a satisfying
correlation that this figure just doesn't quite match. HasTak has the license, why not use it? Or is it only for use on the MP?
Anyway, I do like it despite my nitpicks, though he needs the aforementioned add-ons. The older I get, the more of a G1 purist I
become!

...What part of that car mode doesn't look like an Earth mode?blackeyedprime wrote:Lore Keeper wrote:I like him for the most part, but that backs of his legs hurt my soul. It looks like there are pieces missing.
I'm sure hasbro is doing it on purpose to annoy the third paty filler providers, between smokescreen, runamuck and scorponok. "Here, see if ya can fill this!!!"
I like what they have tried to do with runamucks fake wheels but it doesnt look as though it worked out that well. He really needed his orange too but I'll likely be picking him up as long as runabout is a rtail release/easy to get. Car mode seems like they cant decide to commit to earthmodes and looks a bit of a mess but hopefully it will be better in hand.

I have to say that adding a spoiler to Sunstreaker is simpler than adding one to Sideswipe would be, since if nothing else they could just make it part of a bigger version of the supercharger piece (or part of an extension to the supercharger piece).
Sideswipe, the spoiler would have to transform to not get in the way of his knees (since HasTak changed the leg transformation because of their bizarre aversion to telescoping legs), which is probably why we haven't seen a kit for one yet; that would take design effort, which the 3P upgrade kit companies gave up on 3 years ago.
